Examples Of Overcoming Obstacles

Reflecting on all the times in my life that I have had to overcome obstacles there is a long list of mishaps, lessons learned and many other adventures. The top one of the list is going through US Navy boot camp, which consisted of basically being torn down and built back up. In short you are told that the way you have always learned things from as early age is the wrong way and there is only one way the Navy way.

Throughout everyone's lifetime, one will confront an obstacle. Obstacles can obstruct or hinder one’s process. Most of the time obstacles have a negative a affect on people because of how difficult they can be. Not making a team, loss of a loved one, loss of a job are some examples of common obstacles that occur to many people. Obstacles are barriers that block people from pursuing what they want to do. They are present in every journey of our life, no matter how big or small. The importance of overcoming obstacles is learning new skills, determination and creating new opportunities.

The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

I have faced many obstacles in my life and have been through many hardships. However, I always overcome them in one way or another. For example, when I first walked the halls of Harlingen High School I entered as a shy but ambitions freshman with a lot of friends and unfortunately a lot of enemies. I was always put down due to play playing ability in band. I constantly tried to get better and better and that’s when freshman region auditions came along. I was excited to be able to actually compete with others so I can finally prove myself to my peers and teachers. I stumbled through my pre-audition and wasn’t able to audition and that killed me inside. I practiced so hard to not be able to audition. Although I was never any good I decided to

Have you ever been scared to accomplish a challenge? I'm going to be talking about the time when I accomplished one of the challenges that I have always wanted to learn how to do. Starting my second semester in Modern I, I was really excited to see what new things I would learn and what new goals I needed to set for myself. I was definitely ready to push myself and work even harder than the semester before. During my second semester I set only two new goals and kept one from first semester. The two goals that I set included, getting stronger in my inversions and watching the alignment of my hip. In my culture, society looks down at mental illness and when news of mental illness gets out in the society, one’s reputation is pretty much destroyed. My elder brother, Imran, was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was a teenager. My family was still living in Bangladesh at the time and my brother’s illness was treated as a secret by my parents. My parents went above and beyond to hide my brother’s illness because we come from a culture that is quick to condemn parents for their children being abnormal, my family felt very protective of the fact that we had mental illness in our family. Family visitation and guests in our home were strictly monitored by my mother and my siblings and I were coached to make excuses for my brother. My brother’s illness shaped me as a person because I realized that I needed to be able to overcome the obstacles life throws in my way in order to take care of my family.

I have had to face many obstacles in my life. I have learned that every obstacle can either make you stronger or brake you. If overcoming the obstacle were easy, everyone would do it quickly and without any difficulties. It is the joy of overcoming the obstacles that makes everything so much worth it. In my case every obstacle has had a purpose. Three unforgettable obstacles that I have overcome are my childhood, an abusive domestic violent relationship, and jail time.

Obstacles and disadvantages are a part of life, and will always be there in your path. Some of the hurdles will be bigger than others, and some hardships will be easier than others. Whether it be a chair in your way or something you can't get over, obstacles will be there. The question is not how to avoid snags, but how can you turn the tables on them and have a positivist outcome. Flipping them to benefit you, and others around you to have a better outcome on the situation. There are three ways that I know that can help you achieve this, being optimistic, adding on to your armor, and using them as an advantage.

“They never said it was easy, they said it would be worth it.” This quote means that everything in life is going to be hard; in the end, it will all be worth it. Think about it as a subject at school it may be boring, but it will be worth it in the future. So if you're having a hard time in life this quote can help you, and believe me I was in your shoes one day.

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a nurse. However, my strong repugnance of blood and needles made a nursing career highly implausible. I had never set any logical career goals. Even if I had, the pursuit of any goal would have had to be put on hold, as I became pregnant at the age of seventeen. Prompt #2: Describe an obstacle that you’ve experienced. What does your experience show about your character?

Time management is an on-going challenge that is important for my overall sucess. I currently work a full time job that requres many hours of travel. Gradaute work requires many dedicated hours of study time. Maintaining a healthy lifesytle is important for my overall well being. One challenge that I must overcome is maintaining enough sleep. One goal that I am working on to impove my sleep hygeine is to go to bed at the same time everynight and disconnect from social devices in my bedroom. Another goal is scheduling most of my work for completion before noon, when I am most alert.
