Social inequality refers to is the marginalised, segregated groups of society whom do not share equal social status or class due to race, wealth or other discriminating agenda. Harper Lee’s TKM illustrates how people in the town, of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s were affected by inequality, whether because it was race, social status or even more. There are problems of human inequality within society.This is all revealed by ‘Kill the Mockingbird’ characters.
One way inequality is shown is through education. Calpurnia brings the kids to her church and the way Calpurnia’s people were talking was different. As if, they didn’t have good education."You ain't got no business bringin' white chillun here—they got their church, we got our'n. It is our church, ain't it, Miss Cal?". Classes meaning, the educated i.e the Finch family, the Cunninghams, the Ewells, the Negroes. Aunt Alexandra is an example of a higher class citizen in Maycomb. “I don’t think it’s a good habit, Atticus. It encourages them. You know how they talk among themselves. Everything that happens in this town’s out to the Quarters before sundown.” This was Aunt Alexandra on Calpurnia, correcting Atticus for speaking freely in front of her.
