Edgar Allen Poe writes his poem “Annabel Lee” in a way and format that emphasizes the idea that he and Annabel Lee are inseparable. No matter what comes in the author’s way as he describes it, Annabel Lee is still mentioned everywhere as if she’s still there. He will associate certain places, feelings, and descriptions with her and use those same things to take her away from him making everything that happens about her. He does this effectively through repeated patterns and rhyme schemes throughout the poem to remind the reader of these associations.
