Welcome to the second and final part of Eagle Facts: 15 Things You Didn't Know. Hopefully the first part of this list was enlightening, and there's much more to come...
Number Seven: Eagles Often Have Two Eggs, But Only One Surviving Child. This is because the older of the two eagle babies will often attack and kill its younger sibling. And the parents of the children will not interfere with this seemingly brutal behavior. Life is tough as an eagle kid.
Number Six: Eagles Are Stronger Than Planes. Or at least their wings are. Relative to their size, eagle wings actually contain more power and strength than the wings of an airplane.
Number Five: Fledglings (Young Eagles) Leave the Nest Weeks After Birth. After nine or ten weeks of life,

Then when the eagles sat on their eggs they would break their own eggs and that is how herbicide orange almost made the bald eagles extinct.
For this week’s forum, I choose to talk about the bald eagle. The scientific name for the bald eagle is Haliaeetus leucocephalu and comes from the accipitrine family. With the bald eagle growing three feet tall had having a wing span of seven feet, this magnificent bird has few predator’s. Crow’s enjoy harassing the bald eagle, but pose very little threat. Animals such as the; great horned owl, squirrels, raccoons and ravens will try to snatch the eggs from the nest of the bald eagle. The one major predator of the bald eagle is humans, in the past farmers would kill eagles to protect their crops and livestock, bring the eagles almost into extinction. The bald eagle is no longer on the endangered species list, but it’s still illegal to
While Death Valley is home to many species, the Golden Eagle is the most amazing in beauty, and in flight, graceful, and adroit. “May nest in the niches of cliffs, escarpments, and bluffs” Golden eagles hunt early in the day and in the late evening, soring in flight at low height above the terrain, they hunt for small to mid size mammals. Mexico considers this amazing bird their National bird. This bird usually mates for life. With their unique ability to sore close to the ground to capture its pray, the eagle uses it talons to dig into its pray and pick it up” (Patchen, 2013).
Throughout my childhood when everyone saw a bald eagle, they would be awe in. People always said something like, “Wow that’s an amazing sight. There aren’t too many of those in the US anymore.” I’ve always wondered why this is. It wasn’t until recently that my interest in bald eagles was re-introduced. About a few weeks ago during lacrosse practice, a bald eagle was soaring above Sodexo Field. My coach goes, “Aren’t there only like 20 of those left?.” At the time I knew that bald eagles were taken of the Endangered Species List, but that’s all I knew. I figured this would be a good project to research and get the full history of bald eagles.
The golden eagle is a very large, dark brown raptor with broad wings, ranging from 66 to 102 cm in length and from 1.8 to 2.34
On Thursday, November 10th I viewed the play entitled, Wings, by Arthur Kopit performed by the Waterford Union High School in their home auditorium at seven pm. This 40 minute competition production gives a rather interesting look into the mind of a interestingly intricate women. Emily Stilson , played by Kate Mcalonen, suffers from a stroke causing her to lose many of her cognitive and physical abilities including being aware, knowing when and where she is, inability to understand basics, inability to successfully communicate outside of her own head. During many points of the show She is lost in her own mind and memories. Emily felt so lost because she did not understand what was happening to her which led to a lot of confusion. Emily
One of the biggest reasons for bald eagle death in California is the DDT. DDT is a pesticide that farmers and ranchers used to stop bugs from eating their food. After that, something terrible happened. The animals started eating the plants with the DDT on them. Also, it poisons the birds which makes that eagle eggs very thin.
A declining rate of bald eagle populations was first caught attention by the end of 1930. Both Canada and the states suffered from this declining phenomenon. In some areas breeding populations vanished completely. There was a variety of reasons for the decline, that included; loss of their home, illegal shooting and killing, pesticides, electrocution,
All in all, bald eagles are the national bird of the United States of America and now you know about their
“It’s a lifestyle, not the right style,” was my company’s motto, Fly Pride was my teams’ name and Fly Pride was the on clothing labels. Fly Pride was a clothing line that catered to trendy and fashion forward young men and women. Our target audiences were individuals who prided themselves on being contemporary and abreast with the most recent popular songs, phrases, sneakers, etc. Simply put, we captured the current fashion trends images and/or words and artistically printed it t-shirts. My sister and I designed fashion t-shirts for Fly Pride’s women’s line and our counterparts were three young men who designed for Fly Pride’s men’s line. As a clothing designer apart of the Fly Pride team, which operated for less than a year, it was coherent
An American Tale The mighty eagle Soared over the land And he saw dirty cities And polluted rivers, lakes, oceans and seas Then he gave out a mighty cry
Thanks for sharing your chosen animal for the week. I also live in Chesapeake area and commute every weekend to Northern Virginia and have seen an American eagle flying free. What I didn’t know about it is that these eagles can be found every state except the rainbow state. So I guess that may be why the Honolulu Zoo’s entrance fee is expansive. It is interesting to find that the eagles are facing population problems with result of poisoning. Do licensed hunters dispose the organs after their kills? If so, I agree that the poison problem will be easily resolved and save the eagle population.
The program leaders connected with James’ large scale thinking but worried that he missed the smaller picture at times. During a day hike up a mountain three wedge-tail eagles flew over the group causing the group to stop and gasp in wonder. James huffed and said, “Oh what’s the point?!”
