“It’s a lifestyle, not the right style,” was my company’s motto, Fly Pride was my teams’ name and Fly Pride was the on clothing labels. Fly Pride was a clothing line that catered to trendy and fashion forward young men and women. Our target audiences were individuals who prided themselves on being contemporary and abreast with the most recent popular songs, phrases, sneakers, etc. Simply put, we captured the current fashion trends images and/or words and artistically printed it t-shirts. My sister and I designed fashion t-shirts for Fly Pride’s women’s line and our counterparts were three young men who designed for Fly Pride’s men’s line. As a clothing designer apart of the Fly Pride team, which operated for less than a year, it was coherent
The futuristic looks of 60s clothing were revived, as were the neon colors of the 80s, and the “hippie” style of the 70s (Korsnes n.p.). The fashion of the decade got many elements from previous styles, and many old trends were redesigned and made popular again. Thus, a lot of vintage clothing styles became very popular in this era. Because of globalization, designers based their items on various styles from around the world, causing the fashion of the 2000s to be more diverse, and become a mix and match of different styles. This increase in the variety of the styles made it easier to express one’s identity through fashion (Rindfuss
Throughout time clothing has been an important part of individual’s lives often reflecting one’s culture and personality. People use clothing to express themselves and to help others see who they are. One particular group of people that uses dress as a way to express who they are and how they feel are black women. In the seventies black people were finally allowed to attend mostly white universities, although this was a huge step forward, black women did not feel like they fit in. Black women and men decided to turn to clothing and their appearance in order to find a sense of self in a world surrounded by whites. Tanisha Ford presented “Liberated Threads: Black Women, Style, and the Global Politics of Soul” explaining why dress matters to black
Beast? “Kill it! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” WIlliam Golding’s Lord of the FLies is one ofthe most powerful and popular novels of the 20th century, but no one truly knows what the “beast” is, except for Golding himself. The novel begins just after a plane evacuating a group of English schoolboys has been shot down over an unnamed deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. When the boys first land, there is an air of adventure and even celebration at their newfound freedom from grownups, but what the children don’t know is that there is something there with them. As the book goes on, there are many different thought of what this thing is, or some would say what the “beast” is.
It’s very common for children to fear monsters, but it didn’t come as a shock when in Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of children were stranded on an island in the midst of a war. Consequently, the children’s fear started to develope into the mysterious figure called the “beast”. The beast has multiple symbolic meanings behind it.
What others see as boring, I see as practical. What others see as cheap, I see as economical. Clothing trends disappear as quickly as the newest iPhone fades into technological oblivion. The simple will forever hold a place within society.
It may be a New Year, but that doesn’t mean the winter is anywhere close to over. In fact, Ludlow, Kentucky could be facing some serious cold and snow in the next couple of weeks, and it always pays to be prepared. That’s why Ideal Supplies, your local hardware store, recommends that you stock up on your salt/calcium pellets now before it’s too late. You don’t want to be desperate for ice remover when there’s already ice on the ground.
Fashion is everything to society and the media. The fashion industry has transformed into a necessity in the life of people. Everyone wants to look good, feel fabulous and feel as if we belong with everyone else. The envy and desire to wear certain things and look a certain way all come, from wearing the latest fashion handbags, accessories, dresses, shoes, and the list goes on. But, when is considering fashion into an individual’s life going too far to the extreme? Many do not consider the whereabouts of fashion materials and how the environment is affected by the mere existence of certain garments. Some may believe these objects grow on trees. But that is clearly not the case. Even though it would be nice. The fashion industry as a

Throughout the year there have been several examples of appearance versus reality. This idea does not fail to reside within unit two. While watching the movie Pearl Harbour, the men are portrayed as men of pure bravery and perfection. Despite all odds they were able to complete a task that no other man has been able to conquer. There appeared to be no errors, mistakes, or failures throughout the mission. This movie was actually very motivating and the background music helped influence this. Many students wanted to watch the movie, despite its arguably uselessness toward the class as a whole. Not every source describes the men on this mission the same however. In the book Flyboys by James Bradley he discusses the American fighters who risked
On my first day of summer pride, it was very rough and hard. Summer pride is a activity where you run and workout over the summer for the next football season. I was always tired after right after every practice and go home take a shower and then go straight to sleep. Although every practice was tiring it was worth it for are next football season. I liked summer pride, because are coaches were always having us lift weights, but what i did not like where we woke up at six in the middle of the summer. The running was also frustrating because it would be very hot and humid outside. The first freshman football game was against McArthur and was one of the best games of the season. We worked hard for are first game, and we won. The game ended up
Fashion reflects the attitudes of a society more than any other art form. Like art, fashion is a material record of the ideals that swayed the nations at the time of their creation. Through examining the styles, and tastes of a particular era, we can realize where the interests and priorities of a time lie. As Frank Parsons wrote in his 1920 study, The Psychology of Dress, "There is surly no better field in which to trace the devious paths of human thought than in that of clothes, where man has ever given free play to self expression, in a way which, thought not always a credit to his intelligence, is yet quite true to his innermost self, whether he will acknowledge it or
The AG was established by Churches that were looking for authentic Christianity. William Seymour, a Black pastor, preach radical reconciliation and the restoration of spiritual gifts. This caused Pentecostalism to be seen on a worldwide stage. The founding fathers (unnamed) of the AG saw this revival and decided to organize it, hoping to create doctrinal stability. They formed the first General Council, working to promote doctrinal stability and missions. The first elected officials of the General Council were Eudorus N. Bell as the chairman and J. Roswell Flower as the secretary. Flower also became the first executive presbytery.
During our life we construct many different identities of who we want to portray ourselves as to the rest of society; fashion plays a vital role in generating who we are. With the ideas from Storry and Childs they state that “the way that we dress can either serve to confirm or to subvert various facets of our identities, such as our gender,
As a groovy guy, my small group leader always wore what the coolest clothes. I loved to talk to him about it. I said “I love your style. Where do you buy your clothes?” Many different times, I wore similar clothes to him. I started wearing unique socks, colored jeans, and many other things. He took more notice than I realized. One day he took me aside and said “You don't have to live exactly like someone else, you just need to be you." He insisted, saying “don’t just copy me because you like the way that I dress, find your own groove.” I took these small statements to heart.
“It’s where it all starts, from the ground up; street is the seed to all other fashion” says Kenta Goto from Brknhome, a now defunct Canadian t-shirt brand (Vogel 37). There are many voices that speak of the streetwear culture: what it is or once was, how it all started and where it is heading. Streetwear is not just some fad or a passing trend. It is nothing but pure talent and passion, and the vision to stand out from the rest. It is a fashion movement, primarily for the youth who roam the streets expressing their interests, cultural identity, and common scenarios that take place in their urban catwalks. For the youth, streetwear can be the most effective form of self-expression.
