The Lilies of the Field by: William E. Barrett mainly demonstrates the theme of human change, but I will focus on a closer aspect of this type of change in human nature. By describing Homer building the chapel, by retelling Homer letting the Hispanic men build with him, and by illustrating Homer helping the nuns, it taught me in human nature that at the beginning, most people do not want to do something without a pay or benefits, but as we progress later, we see that people will do the right thing in the end. This theme was shown numerous times throughout the story. It is shown specifically by the actions and words of the main character Homer Smith, who was a big, African-American sergeant that came to the sisters at the start of building a chapel for them.

Their main function in pursuit of this goal is to find out what happened overall by determining all facts and collecting all information relevant to the case. Most commonly, the police will rely upon eyewitness identification and testimony as the primary means to identify suspects. For instance, eyewitnesses can be brought to a local police department and led into a room, where a photo lineup of possible suspects takes place (O’Connor, 2010).

In these three crimes, the suspects for the most part, remained consistant, and I think that while they continue to do so, it will make the job of the analysist and officers much easier to apprehend these individuals. It is very important that the victims of crimes are interviewed immediately with a follow up, to be certain that they are able to give as many clues as possible.
