The Book Thief The name of this film is the Book Thief. This film was directed by Brian Percival and came out in 2014. This film is narrated by Death. It is about a young girl called Liesel Meminger who started off as a little girl on a train with her mother and her brother. On the train ride her brother had passed away from sickness. She was then forced to separate from her Mother and move in with Rosa and Hans. Liesel Meminger was the antagonist in this film. Liesel understands the pain of loss after losing her brother and her mother. Later on in the movie she deals with other people passing on. When she first moved in with the Hubermann’s she was very scared and had a difficult time adjusting. She strongly believes in justice and sticks up for not only herself but others around her. The main themes in the film are relationships, the kindness and cruelty of humans and the power of words. …show more content…

The first point to this is when Hans Hubermann (Liesel’s step father) took Liesel in and was the first person to show her love at her new home when she was scared. He comforted Liesel whenever she was having a hard time. Max Vandenburg also showed love to Liesel. He was the Jew living in the Hubermann’s basement. Despite Max being in a dark basement hiding and fearing for his life, the one thing that kept him happy was Liesel. When Max was sick Liesel read to him every day until he recovered. Besides relationships with family, there was another main character that loved Liesel. His name was Rudy Steiner.
