To begin, over the course of this semester, I have written many essays. I have chosen to reflect upon my Compare/Contrast essay, and my Descriptive essay because these are the essays that, I received the best grades on. Also, I feel like those essays were my best work. Both essays reflect on my past experiences and things that I have gone through. The Compare/Contrast essay was written about my decision process of going to college or working first, coming straight out of high school. The Descriptive essay was detailed and expressive about my experience with receiving my acceptance letter.
Next, these two essay that I analyzed and constructed this semester, have impacted me by showing me that my best writing is from important experiences about
Throughout the school year of 2015-2016 at the Founders Academy, I have wrote numerous essays, with generally positive results. Several of the essays exceeded expectations, while others reached expectations to a modest extent, but all of the essays were supported by the writing skills that I had learned that year, regardless of my strengths or weaknesses with these skills. These techniques vary extensively, from comparing and contrasting ideas in a text to editing and revising essays for quality results, which is proven in my writing portfolio.
I have learned so many things out of this class that would be very useful to me in the future. Also, I don’t think that if I truly want to write about all the things I have learned from this class it would all fill a 2 pages paper. However, the three main things that I have retained from this include how to write a response paper, how to read a book better, and how to better write essays.
This semester I learned a lot about writing in English 151. It has been a roller coaster ride with these essays for me this semester. I learned step by step how to write a good essay and how to have your readers be engaged in what you’re trying to tell them. Each essay I did has taught me something valuable I can take to the next level of English. I feel as if as the semester went by I did not take my writing that seriously and that reflected in my grades I received in each essay. It made me a better student and writer and it will reflect next semester. In this essay, I will reflect on what I learned throughout this semester that you should apply in your writing when you begin English 151.
After completing clinical simulation laboratory session 5: surgical scrub, I found that entire process of surgical scrub is way too complicated and time consuming: the entire process took me 5 minutes to complete and one wrong move could result in restarting whole process. My tutor emphasized the importance of surgical asepsis and its role in preventing infection but surgical scrub seemed torturous and waste of time to me. Still not fully convinced, I decided to do some research to find out the importance of proper surgical scrub.
Buddhism has been relevant to my life throughout my own cultural experiences and knowledge that I received from the Buddhist Ethics course taught by Dr. Geoffrey Barstow. The ideas and practices of Buddhism were not limited to my past knowledge and continuously expanded as I went over the introduction level of the course. The study of Buddhism opened to me various aspects that were beyond what I had known. The most standing out topic seemed to change my perspective in Buddhism was karma. The concept of karma is not simply to determine every single action that I have done in my lifetime but it also makes me think critically what is right or wrong in many situations when I make an action or behavior to other people around
I can honestly say that I am glad I made the decision to return to school and finish my degree, more specifically, I am glad I changed my degree program to Mechatronics. I believe a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics can allow me to become more marketable in a realm of sectors and industries and I can learn more about the broad spectrum of engineering. A bachelor’s in Mechatronics is a like obtaining associate’s in Electronics, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering along with an associate’s in Computer Programming. I am on my last week of Logic and Design and must say I am somewhat upset that it is only five weeks long; I would not have guessed I would like the class as much as I did. I had to complete a course project, broken into 5 sections which covered the major requirements of the class. I learned a lot from doing the project, found my weaknesses
In my final semester I felt a little stronger as a nurse as more blocks were placed upon my caring base. I felt more comfortable teaching patients about their illness and things that they could do to treat their illness such as medication therapy, diet, activity, and attitude. I felt like I was able to teach patients that they have some control over their health. This semester meant caring for and teaching three patients and learning how to prioritize and balance each one. It was also in this semester that I relied more on the patient care techs for tasks such as vital signs and help with their activities of daily living. In the past I liked to give my patients their bath because I felt as though I was able to obtain a thorough assessment.
My first semester of college was by far my most difficult, as I struggled with anxiety which was physically and emotionally taxing. As expected, this had a negative impact on my academic performance. The grades I received were the lowest of my academic career. I am not asking you to excuse my grades, as I have since corrected the problem, I do want to explain the reason behind the slow start and change in my grades.
This past year, I also learned a lot about leading and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Fall semester proved very difficult for me; with a daily schedule packed full from sunrise to sunset, and hours upon hours of homework in the evening, I struggled to find a consistent sleep schedule or eating schedule. However, after the Moreau material covering sleeping patterns, I decided to incorporate naps into my daily routine, and as a result, I felt significantly more energized and happier, even, the remainder of the fall semester. This semester, I have improved significantly by exercising regularly, getting at least seven hours of sleep per night, and eating two full meal a day. Compared to first semester, I have also done far better with handling stress. One way I have done this is by changing my perspective on stress, utilizing it rather than letting it become debilitating and damaging to my mental health as the article “How to Be Better at Stress” describes. I hope to continue maintaining a
During week one, my initial definition of learning was listening to an instruction, studying and then rehearsing that information in my mind, or categorizing it in a way so I could remember most of what was taught in the course. The class has opened a new dimension for me in the learning process; from understanding how I process information to deciphering which learning processes I use in intentional learning or metacognition. Understanding my learning patterns form dynamic learning relationship is a key element to my view of how and why I process the learning experience, even relating it to every day life.
Rethink my initial written assignment in the first week (see Appendix A), I have a further development of initial reflections that modern teachers should have educational ideas that keep pace with the times. Based on my past learning experience, teachers usually use blackboards and PPTs to teach on the podium. Students take notes on their books and notebooks. However, through studying this Unit, I found that digital technology is becoming increasingly popular and affects all aspects of life. A discussion area was added to moddle this semester, which greatly facilitated discussion between students and teachers. Student and faculty contact is a good way for students to learn more knowledge from each other through using laptop. Students can share their opinion and learning resources on forum, they can also post some questions they did not understand in class, the teacher and some students can give some suggestions or different opinions. In the classroom, the teacher can also use the computer to play teaching videos for us. In the group discussion, we also use laptop. This saves time for our study and allows us more time to communicate with
For the final reflection, I have accurately notate the sentence I have spoke depending on how many rhythm are there in that word like basketball are three rhythm so i would draw eighth note of 3. For the every word I have notate it correctly which has made the rythm well and have 4/4 in each bar and there are no more or less for 4/4. The some area that I could have improved are the maybe on writing the reflection since the reflection are long that we need to have 3-4 paragraph which is like an essay and my english is not really good which can cause making the mark go lower.
While I write this final reflective discussion post, I look back on the weeks of work that I’ve done in this course, I have seen a good deal of improvement in my ability to write clearer and stronger. I also discovered how much I enjoy writing, it has become an escape for me. This class and the essays that I wrote have greatly improved my confidence in my own writing skills which has made me even more confident in eventually writing my own book someday. However, while I did strengthen my writing, I found that I still lack in papers that require sources, especially papers such as the final essay. This issue with sources and properly citing sources is something I wish that I had learned more about in this course, but I also believe that learning
This first semester at the University of Akron has flown by. I learned many new writing concepts that helped me become a better writer. English composition was a required class that I had to take in order to get my degree. Although this class was required I still wanted to take this class to become more knowledgeable about writing. Coming into English Composition I was worried about all of the papers and the workload that I would have to complete. I knew that I was going to have to write a lot more than I previously had in highschool, but I was unsure of just how much. The works that I decided to include in my portfolio comprise of my Literacy Narrative, Image Analysis Paper, and essay titled Mayas Hardships based on Maya’s experiences in I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. I selected these works because I felt that they are the ones that require the most improvement to them. The papers i've chosen show how far I’ve came In English Composition.
Since the beginning of the semester, my writing has changed and evolved to accommodate and sustain longer essays. With longer essays, there is more room for in-depth analysis. Further analyzing a topic has led me to findings that I did not know existed. As I continue to write, I uncover addition and superior methods to approach my writing to the benefit of me and therefore, my audience. Throughout the semester, I have incorporated techniques to further my narrative throughout my writing.
