HOW WOULD YOUR STAFF PERFORM IN RESPONSE TO A FIRE ALARM? In the event of a fire at your work place, it is absolutely critical that your staff are well trained enough to function efficiently in such a crisis; it really doesn’t matter how recent your Fire Risk Assessment is or how well written your emergency plan if no one has taken any notice of your instructions or even practiced an actual fire-drill. In most cases, no-one ever really believes that ‘it’ will happen to them! Unfortunately, in the case of work place fires, they most certainly do. Every single member of staff should be well versed and trained in the correct procedure in order to deal confidently with any possible situation. Although everyone assumes that panic is likely to
Inherently the fire service operates in high-risk environments to facilitate the role of preserving life safety and property conservation. How these incidents are managed and safeguarded by our administration
There are many areas in the fire service where potential lawsuits and liability can arise; some of these areas include, but are most definitely not limited to negligence, hazing, and not following the fire department’s SOPs/SOGs. As our society has changed, so has its expectations of those in emergency services—while many in the community may think of firefighters as the pinnacle of what an upstanding citizen must look like, there are countless moral and ethical pitfalls that firefighters can fall prey to and diminish the reputation of the fire service.
If you went out one day and out of nowhere you find yourself in a life-or-death situation would it be your fault? People in a life-or-death situation should be held accountable for their actions because most of the time people know that if they do something that can put them in a life-or-death situation then something bad will happen but they still do it willingly. Another person might not agree with this claim and say that people should not be held accountable for their actions. The reason he or she might think this is because if when a person does face a life-or-death situation it might not be entirely their fault. The following reasons are examples of why my claim is stronger.
To begin with, I believe that there was more than one conflicts in the story. The conflicts were man vs. nature, man vs. self, man vs. man, and man vs. society. Mattie acquired all of these conflicts throughout the novel. To describe the conflict of man vs. nature, it is explained that the fever had spread through the air and it was up to Mattie to save herself from the disease. She had to “fight” nature and protect herself from the heat as well as the fever until winter arrived. Mattie also fought with herself when she had to decide to give Nell up to the orphanage or keep her in her own hands. Mattie also shows man vs. society as she defended the intruders breaking in the coffeehouse. Man vs. man is explained in the novel when Mattie would argue about doing her chores and going to Polly’s funeral in the
Following a fire risk assessment an employer must provide the following in order to safeguard the safety of ‘everyone’ in case of fire:
Nowadays, it is almost impossible to find a building that does not have exit signs or fire extinguishers in America. Whether in a university or at the work place, exit signs and fire safety instructions can easily be found by anybody. Fire drills are regularly practiced to ensure the least amount of casualty will occur if something goes wrong. However, a hundred years ago safety issues were barely taken into considerations and safety regulations were most of the time inexistent, as illustrates the terrible fire that happened a hundred years ago at the Triangle
Too get these service users down the stairs an emergency stair lift would be at the top of the stairs and should be used in the event of a fire, once you think that all of the service users are out you should send the designated person in to see if the area is clear. All of their medicines are in the building and some may be due to be taken, this could harm their health if medicines aren’t taken at the correct time and also many of them could be burnt away if they aren’t taken with you, it could also be a risk of infection because if you were in a hospital and this happened an outbreak could happen if certain diseases aren’t treat and they also could be passed around. Another thing that could occur could be the smoke off the fire, if a service user has breathing difficulties or has asthma this could have an impact on their health, the service user’s family must be called as well so they know what is going on. You should also consider that the fire could’ve been an act of sabotage and you must work out where it started and how if there is any of the building left. Service user’s safety is at risk because they could die in the event of the fire, a staff member could be pregnant, there safety is at risk and so is there baby’s, so I think they should be evacuated first to increase both of their safety. It is important to maintain dignity when removing service users from the
As part of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other regulations, every setting that employs five or more staff must have a safety policy. The policy will cover emergency procedures in the event of fire, accident or other emergencies. Fire and evacuation drills are also a requirement of every EYFS settings in England. The following are steps to take in the event of fire:
A fire can happen anywhere at any time, if the conditions are right. These conditions could be, the condition of the building is in, the weather, how many people are in the structure, or what is going on inside that structure. A fire is defined as the rapid oxidation with evolution of heat and light (flame) or as an uncontrolled combustion. An investigation happens at every fire so that way the cause and origin are known (DeHaan, 2). A specific fire happened on February 20, 2003, at a night in Rhode Island. The night club is called The Station, and this club was located in West Warwick, Rhode Island, and was holding a concert where the Great White performed. With all fires investigations occur looking at the fire
For years if not decades, firefighters have responded to a reported structure fire that turned out to be a fully involved single room. This fire scenario requires a core set of fire tactics and skills to control and extinguished the fire, but is it this simple? Perhaps twenty years it may have been, but new dangers are lurking in every scenario and may have detrimental outcomes for unsuspecting and unaware firefighters and victims. The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) agency along with the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) have been conducting research to understand fire behavior and fire dynamics. This research is providing firefighters with new information about how and why
Doing this will alert not only the other staff members in the building but the other residents inside the day care centre. Another step that would critical in this situation is to begin evacuating the service users that are closest to the fire, this means that the staff members must quickly assess the situation and begin planning an escape plan if they have not got on already. By doing this it will speed up the process of saving more lives and if the ones that are closest to the fire are not evacuated quickly it could have devastating consequences for those who are unable to get themselves out. https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/what-do-if-theres-fire
The greatest lesson learned from this tragedy was the need for planned fire drills and accessible fire escapes. If the employers would have made it mandatory that all employees become familiar with the buildings layout, practice fire drills and know their closest fire escape, it would have aided the employees in the hour of despair. The biggest cause for death in this fire was a result of poor pre-fire planning. The building may be fire proof, but the people and contents inside are not.

Once, our hotel has fire-safety simulation. Because this day, few examiner were coming to our hotel and checking the all about hotel. In the restaurant such as refrigerator, a product that expiry date, a cleaning product that is bio, also does any stuff is blocking Emergency Exit. After that, we started to on fire-warning and to check that does it correctly works facilities. Continually I control the kitchen and restaurant that make sure there is nobody inside. This point, I participation the fire safety lesson and simulation, I learn about having a responsibility in each workstation.
The company can also ensure the installment of fire extinguishers and fire exit doors within the firm’s premises to create better channels of evacuation during fire outbreaks. In addition, smoke detectors and alarms should also be installed to signify and create warnings in case of such.
