For my career investigation, I chose forensic science. With forensic science, you need to have at least a four-year science degree, and it’s recommended you do an internship. I managed to find a few reasonable colleges, and figured out the total prices for each college, which average out to about $395,933. I also researched a couple integral things to getting a job as a forensic scientist.
In forensic science, there are many jobs people can go into. In criminal you can be a crime investigator or work behind the scenes in the lab. A crime investigator analyzes the crime
I am interested in forensic science because of the many ways we attempt to find answers to questions that would otherwise be impossible. Something as simple as a fingerprint can be used as evidence due to the advancement of technology and help bring justice/peace to others. Forensic Science allows me the opportunity to not only work alone but also testify my findings at court, enabling me to also have foot in the legal system. I would play a part in the conviction of those accused, be able to give the families of victims rest knowing how their loved ones were injured. I'd also play apart in putting away hardened criminals and make this world a better place. I believe in the facts and not just "gut instinct". This is why I am pursuing Forensic
After further research I learned that a forensic scientist needs a degree in a natural science such as biology, chemistry, or in forensic science, or biochemistry. When applying to colleges most did not offer or have a major in biochemistry, but all had general chemistry and biology. Central State was a school that did not have biochemistry, but after further research I learned that there was something for me here. I learned that the school offered a major in chemistry, and after completion of the chemistry courses I could minor in forensic science. However, with a chemistry degree I would be qualified to work in any crime laboratory in the United States. Many undergraduates will get a degree in a natural science and go on to get a master’s in forensic
To become a forensic pathologist, typically one has to go through minimum of 13 years of post high school education and training. Considering this career heavily relies on biology, chemistry, physics, and other core sciences, an aspirant must have strong aptitude for science.
In four years I want to be happy. I don't want to be stressed out about whats going to happen. I want to be prepared.
I have chosen to do the Early College Program to save money and prepare me for when I go off to study my major. I aspire to be a Forensic Pathologist which requires 15 years plus of schooling. Schooling that will require a lot of money and hard-work.
The career field of forensics is a very diverse and broad field to get into too. Studying criminal justice doesn’t mean one is going to be a police officer, criminal justice can branch into many other specialized jobs. In my case, I would like to minor in criminal justice, then branch off and get a bachelors degree in psychology and become a forensic psychologist. I would like to work with the behavioral analysis unit and work with the FBI.
The following information is an overview of some of the essential elements in conducting a thorough death investigation, as outlined in the U.S Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice’s Research Report titled “Death Investigation: A Guide for the Scene Investigator”. These observations and any possible recommendations, are intended to provide as comprehensive an overview of the materials covered as possible, and any further helpful material deemed necessary to improve the knowledge and abilities of the Forensic Crime Scene Investigator. (National Institute of Justice, 2011).
Professionally, in the field of forensics, I will have to be able to analyze problems very critically. Forensics is on based on opinions and accurate theories. I will have to be able to problem solve, analyze different perspectives with witnesses based on a homicide
Forensic psychology is a varied field that can lead to more than one career option, and provides more than one path to get into the position you’re seeking. A master’s degree is required to work in the field of forensic psychology. With a master’s degree you could work as a correctional officer, a parole or probation officer, or as a counselor to criminal offenders, a counselor to victims of crime, or a counselor to people who abuse drugs and alcohol. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics correctional officers earned a median salary of $38,970 a year in 2012 (BLS1); while parole or probation officers earned a median salary of $48,190 (BLS2), and drug and alcohol abuse counselors earned a mean annual wage of $38,520 (BLS3) for the same year.
This career path caught my interests because I really enjoy watching the TV show criminal minds and my favorite part in the series is where they analyze the evidence of the crime scene so when I realized it was an option for the chemistry careers project it immediately caught my attention. I am highly interested in learning more about the collecting of evidence specifically on the human body and the procedure of analyzing the body fluids. Another thing that caught my interest in this field was learning more about the way their work fits into the investigation of a criminal case and the way they interact with the justice departments.
Forensic science is the application of science to the criminal justice system. Forensic science technicians use evidence submitted to them to assist in legal proceedings and accurately determine any results. There are many specific areas that many people specialize in, such as everything from analyzing the evidence to testifying in court as an expert witness. Since before I could remember, I have always had an interest in a sort of criminal justice area and thought it would be really fun and exciting to have as a job. I often read Marjorie Weinman Sharmat’s “Nate the Great” books, which were about a child version of Sherlock Holmes solving local mysteries. But even so, like every other girl I knew, I thought I would end up having a career
Being hired by any of those places could be a very big deal especially if hired by federal agencies or any other higher officials. If a person would like to work independently it is not very likely that it would work. That is so because a major part all forensic scientist work under a company or organization. There are certain states where forensic science is very popular. Those states are Arizona, North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, and Nevada.
Where a forensic scientist works depends on where they live. Most people work in labs but some people work in the field of the ongoing criminal investigation. Large cities tend to have a higher crime rate resulting in large forensic departments. Then the people actually at the crime scene hand it over to lab. For smaller cities forensic scientist may work crime scenes themselves and then send it to the laboratory for analyses afterwards.
In order to become a forensic scientist, one must first apply to one of the schools in which forensic science is listed as an area of study. It is vital to choose a school that offers a 5 year bachelor’s-to-master’s program, is authorized by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC), and is connected
