Forensic science technicians reconstruct crimes scenes, by collecting evidence to figure out what occured. They have to analyze and interpret data, both physical and intellectual types. The data is analyzed by observing and testing to solve cases. Along with studying data, theses technicians inspect evidence material, through various testing, like dusting for fingerprints. Skills that are good to have in this job are precision, organization, reading comprehension, and listening. These are a major part of a regular work day, since employees need to use precision and organization to be accurate, plus, they need to understand reports and listen to important details. Overall, the job of a forensic science technician deals with maximizing the use of evidence, to unravel the unknown of the crime.

When working outside, it’s in all weather conditions, and inside it’s in offices and laboratories, at police departments, distinguished crime labs, morgues, and medical examiners offices. Forensic scientists work with law enforcement, and specialists, to study evidence. They work a regular week, except if there is an emergency that needs immediate attention. As a part of their job, they have to prepare reports of their discoveries, methods, and techniques. To solve crimes they collect evidence from crime scenes and other sources, then reconstruct the scene to find relationships between pieces of evidence. Laboratory equipment is used to make solutions, reagents, and formulations to test materials for possible clues. Ballistics, fingerprints, handwriting, and other evidence are examined and interpreted to find links between objects.
