A massive wildfire around Fort McMurray, Alberta, moved toward energy production facilities, which caused a shutdown that costed a Canadian manufacturer one million barrel a day. The fire jumped a firebreak area where plants and trees had been removed to stop its spread, moving north of Fort McMurray. About 4,000 workers were evacuated in the northern part of the area. The uncontrolled blaze covered 285,000 hectares, officials said that it was moving 30 to 40 meters per minute. If it keeps moving north, it has potential to impact a much bigger part of the production and impact facilities that were deemed as having no damage, a worker said. The fire also threatened Enbridge Inc's Cheecham crude oil tank farm south of Fort McMurray. The fire
In BC, in 2050, the forest fires will have a big impact on the standards of living in Canada. The forest fires will affect both the health and wealth aspects of living standards. For example, forest fires are very expensive, sometimes even costing billions of dollars. This huge cost will affect the economy (or economic value) of Canada considerably. The forestry industry will also influence the living standards if the forest fires do not allow the recently planted trees to grow. Since one in seven jobs are connected to the forestry industry in BC, many people’s jobs will be involved. The standards of living in Canada will be damaged if action is not taken towards properly protecting forests from fires.
In 2003, possibly one of the worst wildfires in California’s history occurred. This fire, referred to as the Cedar Fire, spread across 273,246 acres.
It destroyed structures, forced civilians to flee their homes and destroyed lengths of forestry. Investigations have been taking place in Fort McMurray to determine the cause of this disaster. “Leading Alberta scientists say climate change likely contributed to the Fort McMurray wildfire.” In the past 40 years, there is an increase in forest fires activity. As temperature have become increasingly warm, there has been a rise in forest fires all around the globe and they are dangers to wildlife and people living around them. There had been no rain in Fort McMurray for two months and everything became dry and hot which sparked the forest fire and enabled it to rapidly grow. The fire was a tragic event that altered the lives of many. Although many see fire as destructive and catastrophic, the symbol of fire represents both good and evil. According to J.C Cooper fire symbolises, transformation, purification, protection and renewal of life. The positive sides of this symbol allows individuals to see the good that can come from a tragedy through allowing new developments and help our society understand the negative impact hyper consumption has on our
First off I am going to talk about the B.C Wildfires. The wildfires aren’t a good matter for B.C. In 2012 they made a deal with the government giving registration services for the people in the fires. The Province of B.C strongly encourages all evacuees to register with the Canadian Red Cross, even if aid is not required. Given the current wildfire situation. Red Cross is bringing in additional resources when and as needed to ensure pub

Fire in Fort McMuuray brought a new point of view in my life. Before I thought helping is limited only to help within community, however now my vision is completely changed. We should always think beyond our self, think about as a mankind as whole. Don’t limit yourself within a small circle, think beyond yourself where race, religion are not matter

On the night of 21st June 1979, nearly six months before the Hastie fire, Rosabell Fenton was preparing for bed when she saw a figure of a man stood by her front door. The figure moved away when he became aware that he had been seen. She was convinced it was “Daft Peter”, who she knew and had shouted at earlier that day as he was loitering on her porch acting
BAUGHMAN TWP. — The East Wayne Fire District Board of Trustees approved placing a 3.1-mill levy for fire operations on the November ballot during its Thursday meeting.
Severns was found guilty of starting the fire and was sentenced to seventeen years in prison. Prosecutors denied the ability of the aerosol cans to be the cause of the fire. However, after a video of aerosol cans bursting into flames was released, prosecutors admitted that the fire that took place in Severns gun shop could have been accidental. If the video was shown at the trial the outcome would have been different. Severns was offered a plea deal, but he refused the deal because he said he did not do it. I believe that Cameron is innocent. There is no where near enough evidence to prove him as guilty and the aerosol cans are very likely to be the cause of the fire. I do not think his outcome is fair, I believe they made a mistake for imprisoning
On June 9, 2012 the High Park Fire took place about 15 miles west of Fort Collins, Colorado. Itwas started by a lightning strike and fueled by high winds and dry vegetation, the fire grew to be the third-largest fire in Colorado history. Residents were instructed to take precautions if they could see or smell smoke, and a Fort Collins hospital reported an increase in emergency room visits related to smoke inhalation. Much of the fuel for the High Park Fire came from stands of trees that have been killed by beetles (BAER Report, 2012). This paper will discuss methods of remote sensing and field activities based on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM) Strategy. This strategy will allow
