In my research, I learned that Frank Borman went on the Gemini 7 mission. I am also a Gemini because my birthday is May 28. The mission was called the Gemini project because only two people were on the spacecraft. Likewise, the Gemini constellation is of the two Gemini twins. Another connection that I have to Frank Borman is that he went on the Gemini mission number 7 and my softball jersey number is 7. I also learned that Frank Borman is part German and I am also a little bit German from my mom. Furthermore, I found that Frank Borman has sinus problems or allergies from cold weather. I also get allergies when it is too cold outside like
In the second paragraph, Benjamin Banneker alludes to the Declaration of the Independence to note that Jefferson himself wrote “all men are created equal” and have the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Banneker includes this detail to prove to the audience that Banneker is knowledgeable, and also point out the hypocrisy of the whites. The use of Jefferson’s own words against himself creates a slight shock from the audience, and urges a re-examination of themselves and the principles they claim to hold dearly. Banneker opens the third paragraph with several religious details that criticize Jefferson’s support for slavery. Banneker explains that while Jefferson is “fully convinced of the benevolence of the father” he “counteracts
Since the beginning of slavery, leaders called on their faith to justify the immoral actions of the slave trade. These strong preachers for their communities’ strategically defined the meanings of scriptures to sway members into the ideals of North vs. South. Richard Furman and John G. Fee are historical activists using scripture to inform the community of their views. Both figures, arguments juxtaposed reveal the stark differences in their interpretations of the connection between human nature and scripture.
Within the first discussions with Dr. Gerald Blechman, I was questioned on the subject of the weekend overnight visitations, to which I responded “they started well”. In my explanation, I included the defense of certain difficult aspects that could be attributed to a new schedule and living environment, a limited set of time that encouraged for there to be less individual time, and other factors that were unavoidable and eventually worked through. Secondarily, I commented that the visitations had all been perfectly free of almost any inappropriate behavior until the most recent, and that not all instances of visitation were “terrible”, as I had described certain inappropriate moments. With these points made, I mentioned the justified
The person whom invented Jazz was born in uptown New Orleans on September 6, 1877 to Alice and Westmore Bolden. Charles “Buddy” Bolden grew up in one of the most musically rich cities in all of the United States during the time, and it would have great influence in his life. As a young man, Buddy made money as a barber, however his heart was truly in his music. The cornet was his instrument, and he could play like nobody else. He was famously known as “The King” because of how well he played the cornet, as well as his public demand and popularity.
The literature and material that has arisen because of Steve Bartman’s life does little to tell of who he is. Bartman repeatedly declined to speak, even when it would be lucrative for himself. The infamous Steve Bartman incident occurred on October 14, 2003 with the Chicago Cubs and Florida Marlins at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. He almost caught a foul ball that controversially might have been caught by outfielder Moisés Alou and turned the tide of the game they lost 8-3. The outpouring of blame and thrown objects forced Bartman, an avid Cubs fan, to leave, and even to sequester himself in his house for protection. This has raised issues related to
In Jim’s early life he was born in Logan County, Kentucky in April of 1796. When Jim was six years old his family moved to Bayou Boeuf, Louisiana in 1802. In Louisiana, he developed the spirit of adventure. His usual hobby was wrestling alligators and just exploring around the areas he lived by. In 1812 he enlisted in the Louisiana militia after the start of the war in 1812 against the British but he was too late to see any action. Soon he was back in the Louisiana selling timber. But with the money that he earned he bought slaves. Jim later met Jean Lafitte, who was a gulf coast pirate who was involved with illegal slave smuggling. Jim’s brothers bought smuggled slaves and said that they found them and kept the money when they were sold at
There has been much controversy involving racial injustices. From the many killings by police officers of innocent and unarmed African Americans, to well recognized symbolism that may have negative connotations to some such as the Confederate flag. Many of these problems have been brought up a numerous amount of times, but never resolved. It would be a much better world if there was not any division among us. If finding solutions to these issues is a goal that is desired to be achieved, then only talking about the problem must stop, and action needs to take place. The Tillman building was built in 1894 and was formerly known as the Main Building. The name was changed in 1962 after Benjamin Tillman who was a South Carolina governor, a United
I will be writing about a special group of Puerto Ricans enlisted in the US Army between the years 1899 and 1959. This group of Puerto Ricans were termed as "The Borinqueneers". Due to my culture background I was educated in the fact that they were the first organization composed entirely of native Puerto Ricans who voluntarily enlisted in the new American Colonial Army in 1899. This group of Puerto Rican soldiers has a long history and they are very rich in traditions and military merits. The members of "The Borinqueneers" were soldiers who lived over the ideas and concept of what it was to serve their country and their nation with passion and dedication. Nearly 100,000 men served for several years in this unit, they were braves soldiers who devoted their lives to the service and are considered real war heroes.
ancestors in America and was also in The Civil War. When he was younger, he fell into a charcoal pit, permanently injuring his one leg. When the Civil War came about, he was able to pass the physical examination by never actually taking it. Instead, he had someone else take it for him because if he would have taken the examination, they never would have let him in due to his leg. By doing this he was able to successfully get into the war where he was a drummer in 1863. Over the course of the war, however, his leg only got progressively worse, and it eventually required amputation, which was, despite major difficulties with Civil War amputations, a success.

James Madison warned the young American nation of factions at its conception, describing groups of individuals perpetually discontent with the status quo. Such groups would find compromise impossible, isolating themselves in the vast, untamed wilderness of the young country. Madison’s prognosis, however, offered the slim positive that the nation was large enough to contain the factions without conflict because so long as they remained in the minority, they posed no threat in a democracy. However, Daniel J. Boorstin’s evaluation of the nation’s health leans towards illness, as he correctly argues that while “disagreement is the lifeblood of a democracy, dissension is its cancer.” Democracy functions through disagreeing opinions coalescing to
My astronaut's name is Charles "Pete" Conrad. There are some interesting things about this astronaut to me. First of all, his birthday is on June 2 while mines is on June 3 which is pretty funny. Now lets get into he serious information. He has gone into flying time for more than 6,500 hours, which is about 270 days. Can you believe that! Well in all, Pete Conrad was a very good astronaut. He went on many missions including Project Gemini which he had set the record of space endurance for 8 days. He was also the captain for Project Gemini. The last mission he was on was Skylab. The station had been damaged but luckily his crew had fixed it quickly. Sadly Conrad died on July 8, 1999. He had lived a good life and shared it with his four sons
Francis could not understand their language, the murahaliin took Francis among all the children he had kidnapped, Francis was confused because he was separated from the others, so the murahaliin took him to his home with his family and introduced him to his wife and his children Francis did not understand what that they were saying but apparently the man's wife did not seem at all pleasant the boy Dinka, however the children of the Arab beat him while they laughed and sang a song which repeated the word "abeed" Francis tried to understand what the word abeed meant, but he could not find the meaning of that word that those children with pleasure repeated while hitting it again and again.
Rifleman Dodd is a fictional novel that follows the struggle of one British rifleman I chose this book because as a junior Marine it seemed like it would relate to me and many of the diverse situations I was being faced with. Rifleman Dodd provided me with a motivation to learn as much as I could and to always apply my knowledge and training to any given scenario. This book follows a British Rifleman fighting in the French, Portuguese War in 1807. Matthew Dodd, the main character in this novel, must conquer many mental and physical challenges to complete his mission. In a risky retreat to the lines of Torres Vedras, Rifleman Dodd is left behind in this costly maneuver. With Dodd, only being a Private of the British Army, is very unaccustomed to the trials of war leaving him to reflect to his training to battle fatigue,
Have you ever wondered why there is such an evident prejudice against Gemini’s? Even if you didn’t know that was a thing, now don’t you want to find out? Well to tell you the truth there really is no logical reason why people target Gemini. People could have just as easily targeted Sagittarius or Leo but they chose not to. I believe that one thing that made it easier to target Gemini was the fact that the sign Gemini stands for the constellation of the “twins” so you could call them “two faced”. There are always good and bad people for every sign, so there is no real reason for any stereotype against any one of them, especially if you don’t believe in horoscopes. I hope as you read more about the process and the science behind all of the
