In chapter fourteen, Freak gives Max some wise words while he and Max talk about Freak’s upcoming surgery. Max asks Freak why he can not just stay the way he is and not change, but Freak says he must, telling him that everyone changes no matter what. Max may remember this when he is discussing the topic of his father being put up for parole. Max’s dad may not be the same when he gets out of jail, showing that he changed just like Freak mentioned. Rather than being a killer, he may be reformed and better, proving that people can change. However, the words could also apply to someone like Tony D. It is possible that Tony D. will change and help Freak and Max, despite his previous behavior towards them. If either of these happened, Max would learn
When you look at my older sister you might think that she kind and helpful girl because the way she acts in public and helps my mom out. Also you might think that she is a kind sibling. But in reality that not who she is while she is home. When she is home she always on her phone and doesn’t really help with things and can be mean to my little brother. Even though this is a example of something that is good it's actually bad. In some situations bad can be good because the bad can help you get past things in your life or solve some things in your life. In the book freak the mighty by Rodman Philbrick give a great example of that.
In the beginning Max had low self-esteem because people would bully him. They would sing him a song that made him feel bad. Max was scared because he saw his dad killed his mother. Max matured because everything that happened, from his dad kidnaping him to Freak dying. Max learned that he did not need Freak to be smart. Max change because Freak helped him to realize that he did not need Freak to be smart. Freak helped Max because max was shallow but Freak help him step out of the shade. Freak help max to be comfortable with himself.
Learning to celebrate small victories and keeping happy increased Max’s resilience and helped him keep things in perspective throughout the story. During his time with Walter, Max held a very bleak outlook on life. As a result, the guilt of
freak the mighty is about two boys. one boy is 11years old his name is Maxwell kane he was a big boy he was real tall he always got made fun of and called stupid according to the book . he never had a brain until freak came along. Freak is a boy that had medical problems which caused his bones to not grown right. he had to use crutches like things to help him walk to get him places until he was flying a helicopter and it landed in a tree and max helped him get it that when they became good friend so max help carry freak around.
It was stated that people were afraid of Max and bullied him, because of his father, Kenny Kane, who was supposedly in prison for murder. This character did not live up to the initial impression most readers had, because on page 160 it states “ so I wrote the unvanquished truth, for months and months, until it was spring again, and the world was really and truly green all over”, and at the beginning of the story Max stated on page 1 “ I never had a brain until Freak came along.” It was shown toward the end of the book, that Max had been affected by others actions towards him because if he wasn’t affected he would have probably acted a little smarter and considerate when he learned about Kevin’s death. An example of the way he actually acted is on page 155 “ a bunch of them jump on me and I keep going, running around in circles like an accident of
In chapter 1 Walter Dean Myers First place called home was Harlem. Walter had said that it was a magical place called, alive with music. Walter only memory, he has on women is who picked him up on Sunday morning. Chapter 1 was called roots because it was about his history. Walter real mother had died after the birth of his sister. Walter had considered his adopted mother, to be his mother.
This book Freak The Mighty reminds me of another book Bridge to Terabithia Because it has a don't judge a book by its cover thing to one character. That Character is Leslie she is a new kid how meets Jessie in a race she was the only girl in that race and beat all of the boys so he thought she was a person who brags all day however he meets her and she is very creative and they go on many adventures.
Although I agree with most of the opinions that Kinzer has put forward in this book, there is one area that he jumps the gun, at least from my perspective. In the last chapter of the book Kinzer talks about how the current Iranian government out of hatred for the west, has been financing terrorist groups like Hamas for years and this on its own is harmless and factual, it’s the assertion he makes next that will cause your head to spin. Out of nowhere he says, “It is not far-fetched to draw a line from operation Ajax through the Shah’s repressive regime and the Islamic Revolution to the fireballs that engulfed the World Trade Center in New York.” (Kinzer, p203-204) To be totally objective he meant that Iranian revolutionary leaders had
In Rodman Philbrick's compelling story Freak the Mighty, Max was kidnapped by his own dad who now has begun his plan to brainwash his own child into believing that everything this whole time has been a lie and he's innocent. After taking a rest Kenny starts his plan by telling Max that he killed nobody and he was just assumed for that because, of his size. This displays that, Kenny is manipulating his own son into believing that he is innocent. He even uses the Bible card by swearing he isn't a serial killer. At first Max was more agitated and nervous, but, when Kenny got the bible out, Max started to feel numb and think. After a long talk and some more sleep Killer Kane goes to Max and continues his goal of brainwashing his own child by, coming

In the book “Think Like a Freak”, the authors suggest that “Think like a child” is one of solutions when you are struggling with solving problems. So, what does it mean “Think like a child”? , according to the authors, “think like a child” means to think small not big. Most of the time, when people face with their own problems, they alway think complicating ways which are their solutions. Because they know their problems are hard for them and just only complicating ideas or answer will be the best solutions for them.
Yesterday’s Kin starts out with geneticist Marianne Jenner. She had recently discovered the thirty-first haplogroup of mitochondrial DNA in Homo sapiens. During her researched it was discovered the thirty-first haplogroup was only in a few people. The FBI comes to her congratulation party to ‘asks’ her to follow them. The reason the FBI want her because a Deneb, an alien, wants to talk to her in person about her research. While talking to the Deneb, Smith, she discovers the thirty-first haplogroup matches with the Deneb DNA. This means the Denebs were originally from Earth a long time ago. These ‘humans’ have evolved differently from the Terrans, humans from Earth. The Denebs tell the Terrans, there is a space cloud full of fatal spores that
CHAPTER 1- This chapter introduces Liesel, her brother, her mother, and the Führer and shows the importance of them. It shows Liesels understanding of words can and there effects on humanity even though she can't read or write. The Grave Digger's Handbook is the first book that Liesel steals. It's important because she found it the last day she saw her mom and had to burry her brother. Also important is the fact that Hans is more involved with Liesel to begin with which foreshadows their close relationship.
When I first started reading the book, Goosebumps Horror land: Help! WE HAVE STRANGE POWERS, it was very boring because all the book talked about was how Jackson Gerrard and Jillian Gerrard were twins. However, as I kept reading, the book got more interesting, for example, page 16’s whole page, it was written how Jillian and Jackson wanted to check out their fortunes from an old fortune teller machine. They soon tried reaching for a white card until an electrical wire had shocked them right to their knees. The card soon fluttered to the ground where Jillian grabbed for it. The fortune ended up being a mind reading power which was very creepy for them because they wanted to be a regular human being. By reading this whole book it made me glad
