This book Freak The Mighty reminds me of another book Bridge to Terabithia Because it has a don't judge a book by its cover thing to one character. That Character is Leslie she is a new kid how meets Jessie in a race she was the only girl in that race and beat all of the boys so he thought she was a person who brags all day however he meets her and she is very creative and they go on many adventures. That's How i thought it connected to Freak the Mighty.
Freak aka kevin is first described as cripple kid That Max met at Kindergarten. If we were to judge him solely on his appearance, we might assume that he is Mean or strange because he called max a Earthling. In fact, when we first see him, Talking about things max does not know. This shows that he is Smart and Nice. Freak is also on page 84 Freak has some trouble eating as he chokes on chop suey and that might lead to drama later in the story. This shows courage and intelligence when he tricks kenny kanne to save max by saying there is acid in his water gun but only dish soap and vinegar on page 128. However, later we see him in the hospital giving max a empty book on page 150. This confirms our initial judgment by showing that Freak is a good

Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. There are many differences between the book and the movie like when the retrieved the purse. Also, Kevin tutors Max in the movie, also the kidnapping scene in the movie and the book. There are many differences between the book and the movie.
Freak the Mighty is a combination of both Max and Kevin because they are completely different people, neither of them are really considered normal though, they're considered weird or odd. Kevin is really smart and gets good grades. He has a birth defect, a disease where his body is too big for his organs, his insides are outgrowing his body which can cause him to die if it gets too bad. He is in a wheelchair and it's hard for him to get around by himself. He is only about 3 feet tall. Max is normal size, he isn't as smart as Kevin and doesn't have very good grades, he has a disease where he doesn't learn the same as other people, he looks different from the other people, he looks a lot like his father, Kenny "Killer" Kane and he gets bullied because of it. He feels worthless and dumb because of his past. Max doesn't really talk to
These characters are quite the same in the book and the movie. In the beginning Max is bullied and is kind of an outkast. Freak/Kevin came to his new school, but he was bullied because he was Smarter and
In the book Freak The Mighty we learn not to judge people by first impressions or looks because you can find a new friend. Max is a really big kid that becomes best friends with a small kid named Kevin with a disability called morquio syndrome. Max was more than triple Kevin's size but Kevin didn’t really care and he
“I never had a brain until Freak came along and let me borrow his for a while...,” are the perspective words of Max, one of the main characters in Freak the Mighty. Throughout the novel, Freak the Mighty, author Rodman Philbrick creates a developing friendship for the two main characters, Max and Kevin, of whether or not the two of them can work together in life. In the novel, Freak and Max become like brothers in how they act and how much time they spend together. Kenny Kane, Max’s father, shows how not to act in a family by his actions toward others. Gwen, Freak’s mother, Freak, Max, and, Grim and Gram, Max’s grandparents, show how to act in a family by how much time they spend together and how much they care for eachother. In an attempt to be kind to one another, all of the main characters realize that family is determined more by behavior than by blood.
Kody Scott grew up in South Central L.A. during the nineteen-sixties and seventies, soon after the creation of the Crips. Raised in poverty without a father, and a full family raised solely by his mother, Kody Scott led the stereotypical "ghetto" life, a poor and broken home. However he does not blame this on his own personal decision to join the Crips while only eleven year's old. The allure of the respect and "glory" that "bangers" got, along with the unity of the "set"(name for the specific gang) is what drew him into the gang. Once joined, he vowed to stay in the "set" for life, and claimed that banging was his life. After many years of still believing this, he
Throughout the novel Freak the Mighty author Rodman Philbrick creates a compelling story featuring the main characters, Maxwell “Max” Kane and Kevin Dillon, better known as Freak, who go through a journey testing their friendship and loyalty to each other against the forces of evil in life. Max has not had it easy, with his mother being murdered by his father Kenny “Killer” Kane, and he has “never had a brain” (Philbrick 1). These actions and thoughts have left him with no friends and immense grief. Freak has also had a fairly lonely life, being two feet tall with extraordinary intelligence leaving him an outcast. Even into adulthood, people like to isolate others due to appearance or behavior. Loretta Lee, a woman the boys meet on a quest and also an old friend of Kenny Kane, is a perfect example, as she is judged by her looks and the way she can act. Despite their looks or behavior, all of these characters have the best intentions and enormous hearts, and are living a quality life, proving that just because someone is different, does not mean they are not of the same worth as everyone else.
He is very inspiring and is a role model for others. He inspires Gene to train for the Olympics and, although there were consequences, climb up to the tree branch and jump off. He also inspires all of the other kids in different ways. He is just a very confident and inspiring kind of person and it shows. He seems like someone that you would want to hang around with. There is however just like everyone else, a negative
Kevin or Freak is physically handicapped but very intelligent kid and Max and he work together as a team called “Freak the Mighty. The theme of Freak the Mighty is the importance of Family . He distances himself from grim and gram, how his family is messed up in the sense that his mother is dead, his father is in jail, and they don't say his name, and finally he contrasts his family and other families, views his own family different. To elaborate further on that idea, Philbrick shows that Max distances himself from his family(Grim and Gram.)Gram and Grim, bless their pointed little heads, they're my mother's people, her parents. (1.3)By calling them “my mother’s people,” I got the idea that he is distancing himself from them.
The book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is about two boys named Kevin and Max. Neither one of these boys are exactly normal, “freak” (a.k.a Kevin) is physically handicapped and was diagnosed with Morquio Syndrome. Freak is abnormally short but extremely smart. On the other hand, we have Max. Max is extremely tall, but he has LD (Learning Disorder) where he has trouble with reading and writing. Max describes himself as a “butthead” where he says “I never really had a brain until Freak came along”. Having a good friendship means learning more each day, helping one another out and fighting for each other.
Freak the mighty written by Rodman Philbrick is about the adventures of Kevin and Maxwell. The movie The Mighty with Kieran Culkin and Elden Henson portrays the book well, yet there are some differences. Like the rescuing of Maxwell, Maxwell gets the empty book different, and Kevin’s death.
Set in Michigan, Freak the Mighty, written by Rodman Philbrick is a realistic novel told from the perspective of one of the main characters Max. Max is a teenage boy who has special needs and no friends. Kevin a.k.a. Freak is the other main character. Kevin has a life threatening disease were his organs grow faster than his body .Michigan is similar to Detroit and Lansing because they are both urban environment I think the setting takes place in a city more like Lansing .Since it's economy is decent compared to Detroit. I think the plot of the story is a maturation plot because Max learned how to read ,write and to be polite to people with Kevin (Freak) .Those are some skills you learn while you mature.
In Rodman Philbrick’s “Freak the Mighty”, it shows the main character Max Kaine and his friend Kevin Avery are pictured as social outcasts. This is because Max is looked at like his father who has a reputation for crime, also Max is quite big for his age and not looked at as intelligent. Kevin on the other hand is nearly a exact opposite he has been cursed with a horrible case of dwarfism but has a gifted mind, of quite possibly a genius.
The book Freak the Mighty is written by Rodman Philbrick. The main characters in this book are Freak and Max. The theme of this story is friendship. Freak and Max always were friends and supported each other even in hard times. The story takes place in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in modern day. I would recommend this book as it has a lot of action and suspense.
As the main character in the novel, Fowler possessed many complex levels to his psyche.
