Freedom Writers: Rhetorical Analysis Essay

The physicality of an individual can endure many trials, but the resilience of the soul can overcome the greatest obstacles. The hearts of many American colonists grew weary as they continued their path of adversity for independence. The American colonists faced the toughest battles toward the end of the 18th century, where they experienced physical hardships and faintness of their soul. To overcome British tyranny, the deteriorating colonies needed to unite with one internal desire. The Declaration of Independence consisted of many key components that gave the colonists reason to join arms and fight for their independence.

For Howard Zinn, the Declaration of Independence seemed, abnormal. He is convinced that the Declaration was written for selfish reasons. He observes that the upper-class needs to induce the lower class. “It seemed clear to the educated, upper-class colonists that something needed to be done to persuade the lower class to join the revolutionary cause, to direct anger against England.” Alternatively, Bernard Bailyn has a disparate interpretation. Bailyn is convinced that the Declaration is written for ideological reasons. “The Declaration of Independence represents the colonists’ deepest fears and beliefs.” Quite frankly, they are both correct.

Throughout history, there has been people faced with a daunting task. Convince people to do something for people other than themselves. To get them to stand up for the rights of others. FDR, JFK, and prosecutor Adam Foss face this intimidating burden, and through the use of rhetorical devices, persaude people to stand up for the rights of others.

To be free, is being able to do what you want to a certain extent, with some rules. Being free means having all of your rights, not having them jeopardized or taken away. Many don’t have the opportunity to be free or have rights and are limited with the many things they should be able to do. All over the world we should have the same rights and have the same ability to be free. Although, there are some rules and laws that should be followed.

Freedom Essay Before there was much racism and no equality for others that were a darker skin color. There is a change now where everyone is equal and not too much racism. In the speech Barack Obama talks about how Martin Luther King Jr. bought our nation equality for all races. He wants us to all remember that many people fought for our rights, and didn’t stop until they won which is why we are all equal and racism has gone down by a lot.

For example, Martin Luther king Jr.’s purpose for righting the speech was for the many poor and mistreated African Americans of the United States to realize that “We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality.” They refused to believe that there were “insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.”Trying to wake up the nation in fury for equal rights for all citizens of the United States.

When we read we get images of what the characters look like, how they dress, and what each scene should look like. Our imaginations are incredible, but when books are made into movies, it is not exactly what we picture. There is a white, frustrated man looking straight forward. His hair is as white as snow, with a mean look on his face. It looks as if he wants to say something, but can’t. He has this striped, red, white, and blue, flag on his mouth as if it’s making him keep quiet. His background is pitch black and shows no delight in anything. It has big white bold words saying, “Freedom of Speech”. He has on a white collared shirt with a black jacket on. His eyes are as if they are furious and cannot wait until his mouth is uncovered. Half of his face looks like he is trying to come out of the shadows and trying to be acknowledged. I am doing a rhetorical analysis on this picture that interest me and should be noticed by others.

Enrollment began to decline after Jackie retired and Mary’s position was eliminated. The FMCS community loved Jackie and could not imagine staying at the school with her being gone. The decline in enrollment got even worse when Michael was fired. Even though he lacked pertinent leadership skills, he was friendly and well liked. Anastasia Lynn was a sophomore at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. The school sat in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing. No matter which direction you looked there was just trees and old dusty brick campus buildings. A trip to the inner city required two hours traveling time to and from. The only place near the all-girls college was Crowder college. They weren’t much better. The drive home to Indianapolis was worse. September 14th, Tessa was starting to get used to the huge college she was attending. As a freshman, she was extremely lucky to have a junior roommate who she loved. Her roommate, Anna helped her out tremendously. Life was good for Tess, she had gotten into her number one choice school, Carnegie Mellon. She worked extremely hard to get there, and she wanted nothing more than to be successful. Tessa was in the middle of the 2nd week of school. She was already piled in homework. That night, she studied for hours in the 24 hr. study area for the students.

Soon enough, the month of May came and it was time to move on. I remember walking into the classroom for the last time. The children were delighted to see me saying, “Miss Courtney’s here!” Although, I could see the gloomy look in their eyes when they remembered it was my last day with them. The student who became my primary focus since December, came up to me and hugged me. I felt the impulse of tears wanting to come, but I knew I had to be strong. Then I started following the normal routine that day and prepared the children for lunch.
