The three main focuses of the French Revolution were liberté, égalité, and fraternité. Napoleon’s action show that he supported liberté and égalité, and therefore Napoleon supported the revolution.

In my view no one should be under one ruler because the one ruler only cares about himself. The British did not care about the colonist. The British wanted the colonist to pay for the debt they had after the French and Indian war. The only way to do that was by making Acts, taxes, so the colonist can pay for the debt the British were in.. The colonist had every right to push for revolution, even though they were subjects of the British crown. King George III did not do very well in protecting their interests. The colonist had every right to push for revolution especially, when the British had George Grenville, one of the ablest men in Great Britain, to make Acts, the Currency, Sugar, and Stamp Acts so the colonist could pay for them.

During the 18th century, the majority of French citizens were not satisfied with their country. The poor decisions made by French monarchs led citizens to resent the absolute power and the policies of the French government. The citizens also deemed the government’s extremely high taxes and raising of food prices unreasonable. Raised food prices and poor harvests left the agricultural sector of France in a state of economic depression. The French took inspiration for their revolution from newly created Enlightenment principles as well as the recently successful American Revolution. The French Revolution is known as a model revolution for modern ideals and an example of the people’s power. The French Revolution had many stages that were influential in the outcome and lives of the Republic. The Reign of Terror was a year-long period that reflected the changing views of government and the means to do so. The Reign of Terror was unjustifiable as the wars in and out of France created more devastation, the rights established by the representative government were contradicted by the government itself, and fear was spread.

The social state of France was the final reason for the French Revolution. The French social class was divided into three classes that included the clergy, nobles, ant the common people. The First estate was made of the higher and lower clergy. The higher clergy lived amongst luxury while the lower clergy were miserable. The Second Estate was made of the court nobles and provincial nobles, the court nobles also lived in luxury and the provincial nobles did not enjoy the same treatment. The French revolution took place from 1789- 1799 and there were many changes to the Church that occurred during this time. Catholicism was the official religion of the French state and recognised the Pope as the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Most of France's population was Catholic until it was challenged by the French Revolution were Churches were closed down and religious worship suppressed. From than on when the Catholic Church had returned but never the same again.

The revolution in France was a quick process that takes over ten years before stability was finally recovering and Napoleon came to power. During the ten years there were many different types of government all with different ideas, however none of the governments didn’t really affect the peasants. The people in France became fed up. Fed up of paying taxes to sort out the massive financial chaos, fed up of paying for pointless wars and people just didn’t care enough to stop Napoleon rising to power.

The French revolution affected the people and their society in the 18th century when the change of power or organization shifted in France over a short period of time. Any true revolution has a purpose, an end goal of over throwing the current controlling power and taking over that leading role to paint the society, in what they perceive as, the perfect image. While most revolutions are said to be based on this first occurring revolution, the natural laws of man being an individual stays strong throughout time. The changes created as the effect of a new leader are usually intended to make the society better, or in a darker view, to gain power and money. Either way the people are affected personally by taxes and religious tolerance dysfunction on a daily basis.

I also really liked the reference of the revolution happening like earthquakes aftershocks, because it really did seem that way. The French revolution definitely transformed the way of life in France. The people overthrew the monarchy and took control of the government. The revolution changed the social and political structure in France. It bought liberty, freedom, the abolishment of slavery and the rights of women. The new ideas the revolution bought to France continued to influence Europe over the years and it shaped many modern-day governments.
