If you take the bible literally you will know that the earth was created in six literal days. The world was spoken into existence by God’s Word. The bible says in Hebrews 11:3 that through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. As christians we believe through faith that this is the true account of the earth but, evolution teaches the exact opposite. Evolution turns the creation event into a process that spanned billions of years and is still not complete. Was the earth sharpened by consistency or by Catastrophe? First we have to understand Uniformitarianism. Which is The hypothesis that the earth is billions of years old and is rooted in the unbiblical premise …show more content…
An obvious fact to christians that is ignored by many is that the universe was mature when it was created. God didn't create cells nor did he create seeds but rather plants that were mature enough to produce others plants after their kind. Genesis 1:11, 1:21. In fact the bible states that Adam was a fully grown man. On the seventh day God rested from his labor the world was a mature world and it was fully functional. The eagles soaring overhead might appear to be thirty years old, but they were less than a week old. Elephants roaming around might have had full tusks and appeared to be fifty years old, but they were merely one day old. Any mountains, rivers, or other geological features probably also appeared to have been there for some time. There were no doubt beautiful waterfalls and canyons, and other features that the typical geologist would surmise had been formed by several ages of wind and water or volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. The fact is that all of this amazing creation that we see was formed in just one week. Amiracle. When Jesus turned water to wine, for example, He utterly bypassed the fermentation and aging
Scientists have found that the Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago by collisions in the giant disc-shaped cloud of material that also formed the Sun. As gravity slowly gathered this gas and dust together into clumps, it became asteroids and small early planets called planetesimals. These objects collided repeatedly and gradually got bigger, building up the planets in the Solar System. Although scientists are very close to answering the question, they still continue to search for the exact answer to how the Earth was created. With all the evidence presented, it is hard to refute from scientific theories. This becomes cumbersome to many religions because in their eyes God has always been the creator of the Earth.
The age of the earth has been debated for centuries. Many people believe in evolution that it took billions of years for everything and everyone to form. Others believe that God created the earth in seven days and that the earth is young. Secular scientist and Christian scientist both use different methods for determining how old the earth is. For example, Secular scientist look and use the layers of rocks to help them, while Christian scientist uses the Bible and look at historical data from other cultures to help them. Doesn't looking at archeological data seem more accurate than looking at rocks? If the earth is truly billions of years old, then why is there little sediment on the sea floor? Or how can secular scientist explain finding soft tissue in a fossil if the earth is old? The most logical explanation is that the earth is young. Many people believe something just because people say that it is true, sometimes it is good to investigate for yourself and see if it is good for you.
Based on biblical knowledge, life on earth began in approximately 5.000 B.C. In the bible when you read Genesis 1, it is called “The Beginning.” The very first verse in the bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” As you read further along into Genesis, we are told that God created water, light, day and night, animals, and humans. In Genesis 1:27, it says, “So God created human beings in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” All of God’s creations were made over a span of 6 days. In the beginning, God created the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve. Adam and Eve were created for specific purposes and were the only Humans. Life on earth was simple. God gave Adam
In The Book Of Genesis, Chapter 1, God creates night and day(1:3-5) and separates the ocean from the sky(1:6-7). He provides the essentials for every living thing to thrive on Earth (water, air, and food). In Chapter 2, God created man out of dust and woman out of the rib of the man, He gave them one rule which was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The woman, Eve, disobeyed, when lured by a snake to eat the fruit and was convinced it was harmless. She offered some fruit to the man, Adam, and he took it and ate it(3:1-6). The question I will ask in my essay will be as follows: The creation account begins and ends in Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, the creation account virtually begins again. Why is this? What is going on?
Christians today have a biblical principle and opinion of the universe existence. Christians believe that God created earth and that he accomplished that in only six days. Genesis 1 explains the creation and the interpretation is so utterly clear and one writer states “Thus, any interpretation that goes beyond a clear plain meaning of the text is considered to compromise Biblical authority and capitulate to evolutionary theories”. One look at the Young Earth View is said to be formed from the Modern English
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. …the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” In the Christian faith the world was created by God in the sequence of seven days. Throughout those days he made light and darkness, water and sky; he made the animals of the water and the animals
Throughout Genesis 1-11, one of the main subjects covered is the natural world. Genesis 1 in particular provides crucial information for understanding the origin of the natural world. In the first verse of the entire Bible (Genesis 1:1), the reader is immediately told that “God created the heavens and the earth.” Additionally, the reader is informed that “there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day” (Genesis 1:31), showing that God’s work of creation took six days. Because I believe that God created the world in six literal days, the foundation of my worldview is entirely different than the foundation of an atheist’s worldview. When I look at the world around me, I do not view everything around me as the product of random chance and evolution; instead, I see everything around me as the handiwork of God.
This is one of the mot debated topics for Christians today. That is why it is important for one to be able to defend a literal six day creation. A majority of people believe in Evolution and attempt to mix it with the Bible by placing millions of years between different creation days. This “Gap Theory” is not Scriptural, and defies Romans 12:2, which says, “Do not be conformed to this world….” This verse confirms that we should not conform to modern “science” but instead we should rely on Scripture.
accept his offering for it was all that he had and did not know how to
Starting from the beginning of Genesis I will travel to the end of chapter 11 giving details of each part as I go along. I will pick parts
The young-Earth view on the original creation of the Earth and all that inhabits it is a six literal day creation by God. This view does not try to hypothesize on the unobserved past, rather this view is based off of the Genesis account recorded in the scriptures. “The language of Genesis chapters 1 and 2 are technically precise and linguistically clear. Any reader would understand that the author of those pages intended to convey a normal six-day creation” (Creation was 24/6. N.d). “Genesis is history, not poetry, parable, prophetic vision, or mythology” (Mortenson, 2011). The foundation of the young-Earth viewpoint starts with God as the omnipotent spiritual being from eternity past who spoke all things into existence. In the first day God created light and separated it from darkness (Gen 1:3-5). On the second day God created an expanse and separated waters above and below
Theologist and scientists have relentlessly contemplated the idea of creation; how exactly was the earth created? Creationism and evolution have become progressively more controversial within the Christian body. In The World And The Word by Eugene Merrill, Mark Rooker and Michael Grisanti explains the three major positions on the creation of the universe: the theistic evolution, in which absolute evolution and natural selection occur, old-earth creationism, involving divine intervention and evolution, and young-earth creationism, consisting of six solar days (180). “Merriam-Webster Online defines “creationism” as: “a doctrine or theory holding that matter, the various forms of life, and the world were created by God out of nothing and
The Gap Theory The “gap theory” (as it is called) states that there is a large gap of time between Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” and Genesis 1:2, “And the earth became without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” In the very beginning, the Lord created the heavens and the earth. Then, over a long period of time, the earth became (as it reads in the Hebrew) without form and void, and darkness covered the earth. The former civilization and creation of God corrupted itself and was destroyed by God.
One major reason for the contrast in views is the difference of interpretations of the Bible. Extreme Christians take the story of Genesis purely literally and believe God created the world in six days, leaving no room for the arguments of science. Others still believe in the story of Genesis but that instead of six days, six periods of time. Others, however, completely reject Christianity.
Genesis teaches us many things in regards to the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. Genesis is the book that describes the beginning of the known world. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh, which we refer to as the Sabbath. It tells the story of how animals and plants came to be. It tells us how we as the human race came to be. It also gives us an insight into relationships and the human race and cohabiting the earth.
