The Steps to Getting In
I am a senior in high school and I am learning what I want to do with my life and what college I want to go to and how I apply for it. The major that I want to go into is Registered Nursing which is a good thing to know going into college and if that college has it which mine does offer. I am about to explain the steps to get in the college of Stephen F. Austin (SFA). The steps are the application process, housing, and then the financial Aid package. It is very important to do all of the steps as early as possible because if you do not, there might not be a spot open for you when you are ready to apply for college.

SFA has it to where you can live with a roommate or you can pay for a private room which is where you live alone. First thing about applying for housing is getting the application filled out. The cost of housing ranges from 1,864 dollars for a reasonable hall or you can pay 3,145 dollars for the best hall that SFA offers. Knowing going into college you have to have the bacterial meningitis vaccine. Next, you need to find the meal plan that you want to eat on, you can choose the 7 day 14 for 1,635 dollars or you can choose the unlimited meal plan where you get fed all you want but you have to have 2 hours between each card swipe which is 1,875 dollars. FASFA is a form that can be prepared annually by current and prospective college students in the U.S to determine their eligibly for student financial aid as well as concerns that colleges could deny admission. Every kid could and should apply for this because everyone needs help when it comes to money. You can apply for FASFA as soon as it opens which is the first of January. Completing the FAFSA is an easy process, and it’s completely free, I recommend that you submit your FAFSA online using FAFSA on the Web, as your application will process within 3-5 days; alternatively, you can submit a paper FAFSA, which processes within 7-10 days. There are a couple of different types of Federal Aid including: pells, grants, scholarships, and loans. The deadline for submitting the FASFA document is no later the July 30th, so you have from January 1st to July 30 to submit you FASFA document to get help for college that’s more than enough

The FAFSA requires your social security number and your family’s tax returns. The CSS profile is another kind of financial aid that is presented by the College Board, but has an initial fee.

No one wants to be fifty trillion dollars in debt. The earlier you apply for scholarships, the more likely you are to get a few. If you wait to apply for scholarships you will be in debt and regret it. Feel free to go to your school counselors, and ask them to help you apply for scholarships tailored to you. There a few standard websites like CFNC, Fast web & Niche you should check out. Financial aid is not going to cover all your expenses. Also, make sure you have an English teacher review your essays. The better structured your essays are the more impact they will have. I’m sure you teachers will be bombarded with papers from other students plus their usual work load, so be sure to get your write essays early as well. You have to be there.” One of the obstacles to academic achievement that I face on a regular basis is a lack of support in some areas of my life. Actually, sometimes it isn’t a lack of support that is the problem, but more a pervasive attitude that education isn’t that important or is a waste of time. My coworkers are happy working in retail forever, and good for them, yet seem resentful that I have made my education a priority. Overall, I learned that getting into college is extremely difficult. People just can't go into high school and not care because it is crucial that a person does well. When I first entered college, I already knew what difficulties I could face by keeping balance with things I had going on at work and in my everyday life. Would it be possible to keep it all balanced or would I have give some things up? There will be times when things will collide with each other, but making choices about how it should be handled and balancing it out will be appreciated in the long run. College is were you will see if can keep your life balanced, because college is a new experience that has many challenges and trials that one will go through and learn to adapt to. Another thing that people fail to realize that will help balance things, is that if you do not invest what it takes to be successful, you will not see any accomplishments.
Applying for college was very challenging. There were several steps I had to take before I could officially start. The first step I took before applying was taking the ACT test. Standardized test has always been difficult for me, so taking the test was something I really had to work on. It took a lot of studying and dedication. The second step I had to take was to attend registration, which at my college is called SOAR. It was overnight and we had two full days of information and it was very overwhelming at times. It was exhausting and the two days we were there felt like a week. Another step I did when applying for college was finding scholarships. An ACT score of an 18 and a GPA of a 3.0 is required to get in and I meet both of those requirements. The acceptance rate is 79% and I feel like I will be in that 79% when they see my application. I filled out the application online and paid the $30 fee that there is to submit the application. I took the ACT again recently and I am currently waiting to see if I made a higher grade on it so I can receive more scholarship money. The application and everything needs to be in and updated by May 1st (Big Future). UTC’s financial aid (FAFSA) also needs to be filled out by January 1st. The average need based money is $3,32, the grant award is $8,140, and the no need based is $3,068 (University). This is a good thing because my dad doesn't have a good job so this allows me to receive more money to help me get the education i need. For the purpose of this essay the act of enrolling in college will be considered intelligent. Perhaps enrolling while under the influence of expectations, self-motivation, or etcetera may be a good idea considering the perks that come with it. These perks may include becoming thousands of dollars in debt, potentially becoming homeless, possibly becoming an alcoholic, losing countless hours of sleep, and constant starvation. It is this observation that may lead an argument stating that enrolling for college is, in fact, intelligent.
When you applied for college was it easy or was it difficult for you? For me it was a difficult. It took a lot of effort and dedication to get where I am today. Applying to college is like applying to a part time job. It consumes a lot of time and paperwork to get done. If you want to further your education there are a few thing you need to know about the experiences that come along with been a first time college student. The time spent in college is a fond of memory and happy experiences; nevertheless it can be stressful and challenging. Some may say that college was easy but for me I know from experience that only the strong will survive in college. There are so many issues that people students deal with in college. You will think it’s a smooth ride and everything supposes to be in order. In my opinion it’s a learning experience, but a college student thinks it’s a nightmare. You have to be headstrong, if not you won’t like it and eventually drop out. There several issue that affect the Higher Education system. Some of these issues Higher include financial aide, administration, and preparation for workforce and career readiness. Student loans are one of the biggest issues that affect college student’s nationwide especially low income African American college student. Education is facing a lot of issues from tuition cost to drop out rate due to college student’s not been able to grasps the college life and/or not having the funding needed to stay in college. The cost of higher education is also matters of great importance. There are many
