Hello Men, We have now gone through 3 games and a scrimmage, with another game tonight. Now, You can make all the excuses in the world for why we lost the first two. “They’re like number one in the state”, “That was a bad team for first week”, “We didn’t have all our guys”, the list could go on and on. But one thing is for sure, and that’s that there is no excuse for the way we played those first two weeks. There’s no excuse for missing blocks, running by tackles, and taking plays off! Not a single excuse you give will make that ok! You can’t do those things and expect to win games. We played pretty well against GMG in week 3, but that doesn’t mean we played our best. That doesn’t mean we can play that way and expect to win these next few weeks. It’s going to be tough; it’s going to take a perfect effort every snap by every player. It;s going to take you pushing through the pain of being tired. It’s going to take you paying attention to the details. It’s going to take you having an asskicker mentality on every single snap. Offense, defense, or special teams it doesn’t matter. If you give a perfect effort on every single snap the athleticism and that …show more content…
Focus on giving a perfect effort on every single snap. Focus on your job! When you’re tired and feel like you can’t give a perfect effort, look at that guy next to you, think about how tired he is. Tell him to keep going and he’ll tell you the same and you can play for that guy next to you who’s just as tired as you. Think about what’s driving you, think about that dream of winning a district championship and playing in the dome. Think about how for some of you this is your last season. How do you want to remember it? Do you want to look back on it and say ‘man, i wish i would’ve given my best effort on that play’, or do you want to look back and be proud of yourself and the effort you put forward every single
I walked onto the court for warmups and the routine shots and drills performed seemed pointless. Our opponents did not have a single player that was closer than 3 inches to my height so I expected to have a successful game. We all believed that we would win the game, and most probably expected to dominate. We were hit by a rude awakening as our opponents torched the nets shooting the ball, and we uncharacteristically made mistake after mistake. By then end of the quarter, the scoreboard read 23 to 9 and we were not the happy leaders. Our coaches told us, “Stay positive, and play hard. We will be ok in this game if we play
After having some miscues in a young secondary during the first game, the focus then turned to Tennessee in hopes of having a better performance from the unit.
Then we snap the ball over the quarterback’s head and give them 40 yards on a turnover, then they go down and score. It certainly was the biggest play for the first unit. There were some positive things, but you have to take care of the football or you are not going to win in this league.” So how much can we tell from a preseason game? I mean most people say that it is just a glorified practice. It is not starters that are playing or a true indicator of whats to come. However i will say that it does show what the teams focus has been in the off season. Issues that they have or haven't addressed etc. There were some key players that really excited me for the season however. Gus Johnson un-drafted rookie back scored on an impressive and powerful 5 yard
Last night at Swank Field in Heath, Ohio the Newark Catholic Green Wave limped into action against a undefeated and healthy Heath Bulldog team. I think many of the nice size crowd, who knew that the smaller school, minus five starters had no chance of winning and most likely knew that this one would be ugly and that is just what this game was.
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
Going into that game we had convinced ourselves that we had already lost before it even started. We were about as flat as a tabletop. While warming up we were pretty much just waiting for the game to end, so that we could just leave and just call it a year!” Once the game actually started something just clicked. We
”We’ve turned into this team that looks like gangbusters in the fourth quarter, but does not look like gangbusters in the first quarter. It’s a four-quarter game. We’ve got to start faster. That’s something as a coaching staff we’ve got to get figured out.” said Coach Koetter.
“Our execution just wasn’t there tonight and hopefully we can change that with our last game approaching next week.”said Escalon Peyton Arnold
"We have had some inconsistency in technique and finishing on the play, which we will get better at," cornerbacks coach Doug Belk said. "We have a lot of guys who do not have experience getting thrown in there fast. I wouldn't say disappointed, but there are a lot of things we need to work on."
"We made some mistakes," defensive coordinator Tony Gibson said. "We could have had another couple turnovers the other day and dropped some. But we still have a lot of stuff to clean up. We are not close to being where we need to be. Our kids aren't satisfied. We're not satisfied. Obviously, we got to continue to keep getting better."
The Panthers’ defensive front has gotten bullied in both the run and the pass game, while their secondary has looked shaky. On offense, Cam Newton hasn’t been as sharp, and he has been hit much more than he was last season.
We would follow Gaudin into anything, he inspired all of us. I looked around as we waited to run out onto the field. What I saw was a group of young men that had bonded and become a team. Win or lose, I was happy to be a Lion. I’ve busted through that navy and orange banner many times, but I will never forget the feeling I felt that night. We came to fight and fight we did. It was not long before we put the first points on the score board. Then we scored twice more! After the first half we were up 21-7. In the locker room coach encouraged us to keep fighting, and to rely on each other. Ridgewood’s coach must have given quite the pump up speech because they came for blood in the second half. They soon scored a touchdown which shifted their momentum. I myself was having trouble guarding a six foot three inch wide receiver. At only 5 foot six inches, I was at slight height disadvantage. In the final seconds of the game our opponent managed to charge down the field and score a touchdown. They were now an extra point away from tying the game. The clock was out of time, and they had a decision to make. Tie the game or go for a two point conversion to win it. They went for
When the first quarter began, both teams struggled. The teams were trying to find out the other teams strengths and weaknesses so that they can play better during the rest of the game. But both team’s efforts in the first quarter
“The game wouldn’t have been the way it is without our defense. We held them to only one score. The turnovers they got back for us opened up our offense. Everybody made plays. Everybody stepped up when they needed to and it was a great team effort,” Kadle said.
I can’t explain the feeling of missing the playoffs senior year. All the cone drills, back pedals, workouts, and practices feel like they were a waste of time. Do not let last week’s loss get to your head! You are a talented team with speed and a lot of young talent with weapons on both sides of the ball. Defensive backs, I know two seniors were lost due to injuries and had to be replaced with two sophomores who are inexperienced. Replacing our secondary, “Lock Squad”, will be a challenge that you all can conquer. My sophomore year, I was in the same position. I was moved up and had to step up and make plays and sometimes nerves got the best of me. Sophomores, you have support from the upperclassmen. Follow their lead and go out there each and every week and get hits and picks! The best advice I can give you is to be gym rats, stay after to work on DB drills, and watch as much film as you can in your free time. Of course, you are all STUDENT-athletes so your schoolwork comes first no matter what, but you can watch film after you finish your studying. Remember that the journey to state starts here. Take it week by week and look forward to the playoffs because
