Gods From Outer Space This was a very interesting book to read. Erich Von Daniken is the author, whose previous works include "The Chariots of the Gods" and "The Gold of the Gods" which in actuality was published after this one. This book right off the bat goes into some detail about our author. It specifically says "Erich Von Daniken is not a scholar. He is an autodidact, someone who is self taught. That is what made his previous book so successful, due to the fact he isn't impartial on anything. He his free of prejudice from colleagues and professors." His audience, so it seems, isn't directed towards anyone particular group of people, but to anybody with the curiosity and willingness to imagine and to question the …show more content…
There is no concrete evidence, nor will there ever likely be any. According to the good Erich Von Daniken the methods and regulations of archeology hinder its progress to unearth the great mysteries of our history; new means must be achieved if the world is to ever know our true origins. Over all this book is filled with simplistic terminology, not once did I have to run to a dictionary to look up some scientific word. With the ease and flow of the authors' words, anyone should be able to pick this book up and jump right in. It's not even necessary to read from the first page, you could jump right into chapter 6 and know what is going on. Each chapter deals with a different unexplained mystery into our past, sometimes taking ideas or explanations from a previous chapter and incorporating those into a more elaborate scheme of things later on. So, if you jump into the middle of a theory it's definitely going to make you want to go back a little and find out more detail about something he mentioned earlier. You really don't have to go back to find out what's going on; the author just has a very bad habit of making you think. The presentation and layout of his ideas are perfect; they always follow a small story or some ancient folk lore that already get your mind flowing into the extremes possibilities of ancient history. I was very eager to read this book,
As I read more and more the more I get confused. It is just the way the author writes, that throws me off track. I did realize that there was little stories throughout the passages that I found interesting, but it just skips around so much. There are many different ways people can write. It all depends on what you like to read. I think that if I started to read these kinds of things on a daily basis I would start to learn how to read them better.
The book starts out strong and extremely informational, slows down extremely in the middle chapters and ends in theory, which is somewhat thought provoking.
The book to me was interesting. The author use make history sounds more exciting than the
Who adores Jenna Fox.?Of course her parents but she doesn't know why her grandma seems to not. Honestly when reading the first chapter will have you confused .You would want to put it down because it seems boring but each chapter slowly reveals more information and will have you reading the chapters every chance you get. Every chapter you think that you have solved the mystery, but it lintels more and more information. The author writes this scientific novel in 1st person and honestly if it was in any other format it wouldn't have made sense and would have been confusing for the
timeline of modern humans, Homo sapiens, and how long they have been in existence. According to mainstream science, popular belief holds that the history of our species is confirmed to be confined to the past 12,000 years. This figure is a culmination based on what we know about evolution and what we have been able to gather through fossil analyzation and dating of artifacts as well as human remains. Although the subject of human antiquity, also referred to as human origins, does not prompt a great deal of debate there may actually be the need for some. A reexamination of the notion that humans have only existed a mere 12,000 years should be considered as there may be evidence to support a much greater antiquity of modern human life. Alternative researchers have offered up evidence of “forbidden archeology” that contradicts the mainstream beliefs of human origins, however these discoveries seem to have been swept under the scientific rug.
In the latest edition of The Matter of the Gods: Religion and the Roman Empire, Clifford Ando examines Roman religion from the time of the Punic Wars to the Roman interactions with Christianity in late antiquity and beyond. His primary study attempts to understand Roman religious behavior in terms of “knowledge.” Ando opens with the questions, “What sort of knowledge did the Romans possess about their gods? What kind of information, of what status, motivated their religious actions?” (ix).
Our newly discovered human ancestor was unearthed about two years ago by amateur cavers, They were exploring the limestone tunnels in the rising star cave near Johannesburg, South Africa.
In the book, the Pursuit of God, Tozer offers many different areas of our life that we need to focus on in order to stay on God’s path. I went through the book and tried to piece together a short summary of each chapter below.
Archaeological evidence can only be reliable to an extent when there is definitive evidence to support theories, but when speculation enters the equation it brings doubt and unreliability.
Euhemerus (330-260 B.C.) of Messene was a philosopher and author of ancient times, a Greek mythographer, who is well known for his interpretations of Greek myth and the gods. While he may not have grown to be as big as other authors, his name remains attached to his line of thought even now. He wrote out his thoughts in a work called Sacred History, also Hiera Anagraphe, where he tells a first-person story of his travels to the island Panchaea in the Indian Ocean, in which he discovers the temple of Zeus. Here he learned that the gods that were being worshiped were originally mortals, elevated to their god-hood status because of some great feat they performed or some even that led to important cultural advancement. These people were worshiped and glorified when they were alive, but as generations passed were made divine. It’s assumed that everything written by him is fiction, more or less, but that did not lessen the credibility or impact of his theory.
Mainstream scientist has ignored the astonishing evidence of fossil records that provide concrete background to humans existing for millions of years. In 1962, a team of archeologists led by Cynthia Irwin-William discovered ancient tool and skeleton remains at an archeological site called Hueyatalaco. Virginia Steen-McIntyre and her team of geologist were called to the site to determine how old these artifacts were. The team of geologists conclude that the artifacts were 250,000 years old. However, the team of archeologist argued that the date would be impossible due to the fact that humans did not exist within North America 250,000 years ago. Therefore, archeologist refused to publish the geologist’s finding. The power group of geologist repudiated Steen-McIntyre’s team because of the process of “knowledge filtration”.
The Gods Must Be Crazy 1 is a South African comedy film which tells the story of Xi, a Bushman from the deep Kalahari Desert. He lived happily with his family and tribe because he thought the god provided them with plenty of things. The film contains various elements about cultural differences and intercultural communication concepts. In this essay, I aim to analyze the film in the light of the concepts of ethnocentrism and values. The literature review of the concepts will be discussed in the first two paragraphs, and a description of the segments relevant to the chosen concepts, followed by analysis and discussion on how these segments informs the concepts and what could help viewers to understand.

Evolutionary biologists and archaeologists in recent years have forever transformed the way we look at our past, and have shed light on many things that were previously waiting in the dark just ready to be discovered. With breakthroughs in technology such as the potassium argon method, and DNA analysis, biologists and archaeologists have found new ways to look back on where it all began.
The record is not complete. DNA has not been recovered from specimens older than about 800,000 years. The fossil record is quite patchy but improving all the time. Just recently yet another unknown line has turned up in Spain which has a signature different from Neandertals and humans yet incorporating some Denisovan traits from Siberia. The critical epoch when the mosaic pattern of human evolution led to speciation is not known with complete certainty.
