The Gospel of Propitiation When we speak of the cross of Christ and the death that He accomplished on Golgotha, many of us look or focus at the physical beatings, whips, humiliation, and death that Jesus had suffered on the cross. However, although the physical death of Jesus was a necessity the essence of it all was what happened spiritually. Because God is holy, He demonstrates His holiness on the cross of Christ by opposing with divine wrath against which the sin that He hates through propitiation. The Wrath of God The wrath of God, “means that He intensely hates all sin.” (Grudem, 1994) The attribute and characteristic of God’s wrath is a direct correlation with the attribute of God’s love. The very nature of God’s love, is not to say that God loves and cannot hate, however, God is love and He must hate. If a person declares that they love life and the sanctity of life, then they must hate abortion. They simply …show more content…
In other words, propitiation is the grand finally of the Gospel of Christ. It is the key to it all. Without propitiation there is no hope for man. We may indeed look at Christ’s physical death in horror, however, the physical death of Christ is a grain of sand compared to the entire ocean. Many Christians perhaps may not be able to answer the question, “What are you saved from?” However, ‘being saved from’ refers to something is chasing you. In other words, when a Christian says, “I am saved.” Biblically the Christian is saved from the wrath of God. It is God Himself whose wrath abides on the enemies of God. The point is clear we need a savior who will endure this wrath. And it is only God who can fully endure His own
The novel leaves readers with a quandary, Haynes writes, that resonates with a deep question faced eventually by everyone: How shall I respond to claims that God speaks directly to individuals, instructing them to behave in ways I judge to be immoral? Stating that God issues commands for what appear to be immoral acts raises at least the perception, and comes close to asserting, that God commands and controls evil as well as good. For satisfaction atonement, Jesus’ death is aimed at God or aimed Godward-the target of Jesus’ death is God’s honor or God’s law. God’s honor not only needs the death, but God also arranges for Jesus to die to pay the debt to God’s honor. The evil powers who oppose the reign of God by killing Jesus-whether the devil, the mob, or the Romans-are the ones who are actually doing the will of God, are doing God a favor by killing Jesus to provide the payment that God’s honor or God’s law demands. Since the death of Jesus is also professed to be good and salvific, this image has God orchestrating both good and evil-salvation for some of God’s children depends on God directing the death of another of God’s children. Weaver explains to the audience how God answers to our call, how he knows how to heal us when we are hurting, and answers to the question of “Why did Jesus have to die?” or “How does Jesus’ death save?”.
Today I am going to talk a little bit about the Christian Worldview. Religion can be a highly debated subject depending on who you talk to and the environment you are in. With so many different types of religion in the world today it can get confusing where you may fit in. In this paper I will be exploring some of the important elements of one of the more well known religions in the Christian Worldview to help you to understand why they believe what they believe.
Jesus’s death turned him into a martyr, catapulting him into prominence as the saviour of Man in the eyes of God. Jesus’s widely known trial, death, and alleged rising set off a chain that caused him to be thought of as the son of God, and eventually caused his death to be one of the most celebrated events in the western world. The speculations surrounding the night before his death also shed an interesting light upon the way in which he died, emphasizing that, unlike what it may seem, Jesus was actually rather reluctant to embrace his death as a victory. In Mark chapters 14:32-42, Jesus tells his disciples “My soul is
Isaiah 64:6 – Prior to our salvation, even our best deeds or intentions are ineffective to save, and thus any attempt to save our own souls is repulsive to God.
The Gospels of Jesus tell a story that is a unified story over the four gospels. Each of the four writers had their own point of view that they were writing from. Just a four journalists covering an important story will write from their own point of view
Do you ever feel like you have no one to comfort you? No one that cares which you could talk to? Come to Jesus, and have your burden lifted while it flies away. Jesus is the spirit that embraces your soul, him whom we cannot see, but yet we still acknowledge that he is there. He’s the friend who you can always trust, the parent that comforts you, the teacher that guides you, the song that sings to you, and the joy that makes you laugh. The word that is read to you, and the heartbeat, which your heart beats. To teenagers whom are losing faith, Christ can seem a million miles away or not here at all. Now and then, it may feel like endless nights of praying with no one to hear, but that is not true. Because he is not visible,

The four Gospels all tell the same story, but they differ in the small details and the way in which the story is told. The “Gospel Authors” spent much of their time with Jesus and I’m sure the events they witnessed were truly remarkable. These Apostles did have flashbulb memories, which are memories of exciting or shocking events that can be clearly remembered, but they also had much more going on. To remember the events that happened and record them for Scripture, the authors had to encode, store, and retrieve these memories. Encoding would be when the Apostles are first experiencing the event. Their brains are taking in information and processing them in unique ways. They then stored these memories in order to retrieve them later. Finally,
The Gospel of John is amazing and unique in its own way. There's a lot of different controversies that arises to the surface because of the differences between John and the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke). There are differences in stories, themes, writing styles, and so on. It's like hearing 4 different people tell the same story. You will always get something different; different answers, details, etc.
The apostles are the twelve followers that Jesus selected early on in his ministry. They were chosen to spread the Gospel after the death of Jesus Christ. These men were ordinary people that God used in marvelous ways. These men called us to follow Jesus Christ. After the Death of Jesus the spread the word of God to places as far as Rome.
The Gospel of John proclaims: “whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him at the last day. For my flesh is true food and my blood true drink” (Jn 6:54-55). The words of Apostle John give us the ultimate assurance of the many blessings that the Cross of Christ has won for us in which, there overflows numerous blessings which come to us whenever we participate in Eucharistic sacrifice, because to receive the Eucharist during Mass, is to receive Christ Himself who has offered himself for us, who promised his disciples eternal life and intimate union with him. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that, our Christian life has foundation in the Eucharistic banquet and we need daily nourishment from it in our pilgrimage journey until the moment of death, when it will be given to us as viaticum.
This two-fold process first begins with an encounter with God. When he or she personally receives the experience of God as salvation, then the person is filled with the Holy Spirit. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is an addition to already being filled with the Holy Spirit. If a person never receives the Baptism of the Holy Spirit during their faith, he or she still receives salvation. A person who receives Christ has the Holy Spirit, but not everyone who has received the Holy Spirit can speak in tongues. Tongues can be traced as the evidence of the Holy Spirit coming in a way that is different than just having the Spirit. The Holy Spirit was present after Christ was resurrected. The reason being is because before Pentecost the disciples were preforming healings, exorcisms, and proclaiming the good news. Jesus needed the Holy Spirit in order to perform those miracles. Which leads me to strongly believe the disciples had the Holy Spirit after Jesus left the earth.
The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is either one of the most wicked, vicious, heartless hoaxes ever foisted upon people, or it is the most important fact of history. It may be said that the one casts light upon the other. If He was what the Gospels represent Him, He must have been born of a pure Virgin, without sin, and He must have risen from the dead. If the story of His birth be true, we can believe that of His Resurrection; if that of His Resurrection be true, we can believe that of His birth. In the nature of things, the latter was incapable of strict historical proof; and, in the nature of things, His Resurrection demanded and was capable of the fullest historical evidence.
No human could raise themselves from the dead, thus we cannot defeat sin, death, and the devil on our own, we need God to humble himself as a human to do it for us. We discovery that Jesus’ resurrection one of several signs of Jesus as God incarnate. We also see that Jesus’ prophecy of his arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection as stated by the angels in 24:6-7. Due to this prophecy, we can infer that Jesus knew beforehand what he was going to be enduring with his arrest, mocking, torture, and death. Knowing this shows readers that Jesus is loving and greater than I in all aspects, I could not imagine going through that torture for someone who is disobedient, neglectful, and so full of sin. He truly is indescribable there are no human words that can describe how wonderful and loving he is for doing that for you and
