September 10 1774: This week representatives from every colony met for the First Continental Congress. They have collectively decided to have all the colonies boycott British goods. We are all pushing for one thing, independence!
april 1775, Colonies located in North America put their foot down and worked towards a unified
I know it is hard to believe we (the colonists) would be on the verge of a revolution against our own homeland. My father has explained to me the reasons we deserve independence from God, the King, and the British people. There are many things going on in the colonies to lead us to our current thoughts. The British people have imposed many Acts upon us colonists.
The years of 1763-1765 were truly defining moments for colonist of the colonies, soon to become the United States of America. ‘’War! War! This is the only way!” American Colonist shouted,as they took to the streets proclaiming defiance of British rule. “We as a people shall fight for our freedom and have victory. No more shall we continue to let others control our countries and give our money to a monarch who has no concern for our right’s, dedication that was put forth to help fight and respect us as loyal subjects. We must fight for our freedom!” When American colonist waged war it proved to be the only way for the colonies to become free from Britian. In turn, the colonist were justified in breaking away from England because of: The
This chapter covers the years that saw the colonies emerge as an independent nation. The colonial rebellion began as a protest on the part of the gentry, but military victory required that thousands of ordinary men and women dedicate themselves to the ideals of republicanism.
The thirteen British colonies of North America were slowly going into independence. The people (colonists) were proud of being British, they had no desire to separate from their own country. April 19, 1775 people made calls for independent. Also in that year of July the Second Continental Congress sent the King a request for redress and reconciliation, which Dickinson had to drain indubitably.
The American Revolution, one of the most significant events in our world’s history, has established a huge impact on not only life back in the eighteenth and nineteenth century but our society today. The Acts of Parliament highly benefited the British but did not afford those same rights to the colonists until the formal issuing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776, in which colonial freedom was granted. The most controversial issue is which group caused it; a result of propaganda by the colonists. Multiple acts and protests contributed to this war, three influential ones being the Stamp Act, Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party.
On June 17, 1775 in Charlestown, Massachusetts, the wrangle between the colonists and the British continued in the Battle of Bunker Hill. All in all, the British won, netherless of the severe damage the colonists caused ( out of 2,200 troops, 268 British soldiers and officers had been killed; another 828 were wounded). However, this resulted in the colonists receiving an important boost of confidence and a realization that they can’t defeat Britain alone, therefore needed allies. Since the French lost to the British in the Seven Year War, the colonists asked them to help them defeat the British. The French agreed, but the only condition is that they have to leave the British Empire.
Common Sense, a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine, brought the attention to the colonies and opened their eyes on starting what would soon be known as the American Revolution. From the Boston Massacre to the four acts that the British forced on the colonist it arose an anger that made the colonist’s blood boil. The colonists started to go against the british, boycotting their goods so they would not pay outrageous taxes to pay back the debt the British were in from the French and Indian war, and dumping the tea into the harbors. With all the anger, frustration, and tension, the colonist snapped and they wrote their “break up” letter to Britain listing the reasons why they want to claim their independence beginning the American Revolution.
However, we can not continue to allow the British to control what we do in our colonies. The British has controlled us with the Intolerable Acts by outlawing town meetings.and closing the Boston Harbor. In addition, the British Parliament has created trade inequalities that have had a negative impact of us. The Parliament created mercantilism by forbidding us to trade with other countries, monopolizing our markets, banning the export of gold and silver, and limiting our wages. This was created due to the Parliament creating Triangular Trade Routes, Navigation Acts, and the Tea Act. We have to break free from the British government in order to gain financial prosperity, secure our rights, and declare our
A pivotal point in history developed the day of December 16, 1773 when the colonists decided it was time to stand up against the injustices that the mother country of Great Britain had weighted them with. The Boston Tea Party was a crucial event for the Revolutionary War. With this act, colonists initiated the bloodthirsty portion of the revolution. It was the primary attempt of the colonists to disobey and rebel with brutality against their own government. The consecutive events were generated by a domino effect. The colonists recognized for the first time that the British government treated them atrociously. It was a significant stride to approaching the Independence dream. The Colonists fled from their mother country to embark on a fresh
Did you know on July 4, 1776 is the day that the colonists broke away from England? So they weren’t under their control any longer. The colonists wanted freedom from their across the ocean rulers. They were being controlled in all sorts of places like taxes, to whom they could trade with, and what the believed in. I will talking about all of these topics in the following paragraphs.
End of 1776 the British thought they have won the war. Howe the General of the British offered a peace treaty signing a promise saying “remain peaceful obedience” to the king. Thousands took his offer. Washington did not believe that amity was possible between the American colonist and British. Washington knew he had to do something, he gathered all of us and read to us from Thomas Paine ‘The Crisis’. “These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it NOW, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”
I would like to find an amicable solution to the impending doom that is the colonies separating from Great Britain. I understand that Great Britain has invested lots of time and money into the colonies. However, Britain, you have to realize that you have been making a fortune off of taxing your many other colonies. You are also restricting the colonists from trading with any other countries besides your own. By allowing the colonists to trade with other countries you would help them feel more independent while you would still maintain control of them. I also understand that the colonists are upset about their unfair treatment and unfair taxation. The colonists have gone through lots of hardship since the first generation that came abroad
Have you ever considered about switching sides? Our lives matter. Do you really want to be controlled by the British for the rest of your life? The British have had control for far too long. And now they are taking it further and forcing us to pay unnecessary taxes. If you make one wrong move, your life could be in jeopardy. Join the cause and fight against the British not only for our lives but for our freedom! Our lives would be better in taxes, trade, and political theory and I’ll explain why.
