Chapter nine’s main focus was on being able to identify your signature strengths. The strengths of characters talked about are how we achieve the virtues mentioned in chapter eight. The virtues include wisdom and knowledge, courage, humanity and love, justice, temperance, and transcendence. Though the strengths in which we acquire the virtues include things such as hope, social intelligence, teamwork, loyalty, curiosity, etc. The first part of the chapter goes on to explain the difference between talents and strengths. The Ancient Greeks believed in many gods and heroes during their time. Each one had a sole purpose in a mortal’s lifetime. Greek mythology had a huge impact on religion in Ancient Greece. The Greeks performed rituals in order to honor their gods. Mythology affected the Ancient Greeks in many ways. The origins of mythology, the influences of mythology through a human’s lifetime and lessons taught in the ancient myths will be examined.
When people wonder about Ancient Greece the first thing that comes to their minds is Greek mythology; gods and goddesses that have helped shape many historical events. “In ancient Greece, stories about gods and goddesses and heroes and monsters were an important part of everyday life.” (“Greek Mythology.”) The civilization showed that numerous characters and stories helped shape Greeks. The beliefs the Greeks had with mythologies was they understood the meaning behind all the characters that are known today. However, to the Greeks, they were not just characters, these were their gods and goddesses who gave them meaning and understanding of the world around them. Worshiping the gods and goddesses helped them with their religious rituals and the temperament of the weather. A famous wine-jar that was made during this time period was “Achilles killing the Amazon Queen Penthesilea, 540-530 BCE, black-figured amphora”. (Khan Academy) The civilization that they lived in grew around their worship and achievements.
I became very interested in Greek history after visiting the display of papyrology. The papyrology collection at the graduate library at the University of Michigan displays some ancient artifacts of the 4th century and even older showing us what life would of been like in those times. In this exhibit there was a wooden tablet with school exercises from Egypt used in the 4th century. The wooden tablet was found in an unknown provenance of Egypt. This extraordinary tablet was used as a part of elementary Greek school exercises. The tablet features the alphabet written out in regular and reverse order, on the reverse side of the tablet it shows syllabary consisting of consonant/vowel combinations. This tablet would have been used in schools in

"It's it obvious?" Nikki asked. "I want us to do a sexy photo shoot. It's not kinky. But I'd figure it would spice things up. Do you know how to take professional photos?"
According to various accounts of the creation of the world. Hesoids version describes that in the beginning, there was only Erebus, or darkness, Nyx, or night, and Chaos, who has been interpreted as the opening form which the other ancient characters arose. Then appeared Gaea, or mother earth, personified as the solid foundation of the world. Next, was Tartarus who is usually confused with the residence Hades, but was depicted as the father of some of Gaea’s children. Also appearing after Chaos was Eros, the source of sexual love/attraction that brought beings together to produce more children.
Greek Mythology, used to explain the unknown. The Greeks never had the technology to discover why things happened the way they did. For that reason, they would believe in stories about Gods and Goddesses that determined their everyday lives. They would worship and sacrifice living beings to show their respect for the Gods. Over time, they developed the story of how the world was created, their main Gods and Goddesses, and traditions and rituals.
The small group, led by Kodor, headed on to the entrance of the network of underground tunnels in Arazi. However, instead of the long corridor that went away from the cave, and from which other tunnels set off, a tall circular dome with a single opening —the one that they were using now— welcomed them. Theo thought of Ulder, the boys and his father. Would they have turned when faced with a non-entry way, or were they already on the other side of that wall of stone?
Salt comes from the sea. Tears are lying in the sand. We said we'd be together.
Iris looked at me with confusion as I held the doorknob of a shabby building, daring myself to twist it. The front wall stood out suspiciously against the almost clinical utopia that surrounded it for miles and miles - you look to the right, there were rolling green hills that in the past would have been called fake, and on the left, a glistening blue sea and tall as can be skyscrapers. Ten years ago, where we just were a few minutes ago, you'd never see any of this - it was a sleepy city with not much going for it, but it's all hustle and bustle now.
“Look at this. LOOK AT THIS!” I complained as I gestured towards the layer of sticks and leaves the canopy tent was set up on top of, “This could take and hour to clean up!”
Our story starts in the furthest side of the western ocean. Living there were the three gorgons. Stheno, Euryale and Medusa. Stheno and Euryale were immortal, born to live forever. Medusa though, was only a mortal, bound to die sometime in her life. What’s a gorgon though? A gorgon is a dragon-like monster with golden scales and snakes for hair. Whenever looked in the eye of a gorgon you are frozen to stone. They were shunned for what they were and there was no way to escape the hatred the community of people living on land gave them. Their parents; Phorcys and Ceto were sea-gods.
