The Mafia is an Italian secret criminal society. The Mafia, or syndicate, impacts cities all around the world. Most of the effects of the Mafia are negative, but there can be several positive effects on the culture and economy of the cities in which it frequents.

A literal arms race for firepower has become a reality in the United States. People buy guns to keep themselves safe, which makes others uncomfortable, and motivates the next person to buy their own gun. Gun control would create a safer environment for everyone. With a population of 323 million, it’s estimated that there are 357 million guns in the United States.

The Mafia is involved with more crime then one can think. Back when there was prohibition who do you think was the booze smuggler, the Mafia. this is just a few crimes the Mafia commits. Mafia hitman Salvatore ``Sammy the Bull'' Gravano pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges that he helped operate and finance a multimillion dollar, statewide criminal drug deal in Arizona. Sex probably rates higher than whiskey in desirability, and so organized crime moved into illegal prostitution. these are just a spoonful or what the Mafia does. Racketeering; fraud; car theft; robbery; armed assault; drug dealing; trafficking in weapons and radioactive material; trafficking in human beings and exploitation through prostitution; alien smuggling; smuggling of precious and antique goods; extortion for protection money; gambling; embezzling from industries and financial institutions up to infiltration and control of private and commercial banks; controlling of black markets. The Mafia is dangerous group of people and they should be put in jail.

Hence, many would believe that gun purchases would plummet; however, the opposite has occurred. Gun manufacture has risen around 40% since then. These correlations show that the access to guns do not contribute to the violence. Another scenario many pro-Gun Control advocates dismiss is how the crime guns are obtained. In a study conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, data has shown around 79% of crime guns are obtained through friends/family or street/illegal sources; thus, if the criminals wanted to acquire firearms they will find a source. In the BJS’ survey only 8.3% of the offenders bought their guns from a retail store. The government can only prevent these delinquents from obtaining guns in registered sources like retail stores, pawn shops, flea markets, and Federal Firearm License (FFL) certified gun shows. The other option is to take away the 226 year old right to “bear arms” created by our Founding Fathers. The shootings that has happened throughout the Unites States has created a great divide among Americans on what should our nation do to prevent further shootings from happening. Many people believe that forcing new laws on how people purchase weapons should require background checks. Gun Control in the United States of America is a topic that has had lots of criticism and support by many citizens. The critical people of this topic believe that the guns do not kill people, it is the people that kill people. The supporters of this topic believe that guns lead to violence and a feeling of power over others. They also believe that if guns were eliminated from the public, then violence and death would decrease heavily in this country. These two opposing views leave the federal government open to a decision on whether or not to abolish one of our Constitutional rights, or to keep allowing people the right to own a gun. There are many issues that need to be looked at in order to decide which laws are necessary.

In the past half decade, there has been a rise in violence not only in the State of Indiana, but nationwide as well. The violence has been anywhere from mass school shootings that have devastated the nation to murders that have led to huge racial debates. The school shootings have even been close to home, including the Purdue University incident. Although gun control may help lower the percentage of violent acts, criminals will still be able to obtain guns through the black market. With the black market being more accessible to criminals, gun control could make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. Also, with restrictions on owning firearms, it could make the citizens feel less safe. Whether it’s considering making a gun harder to obtain through a more rigorous background check or limiting the amount of ammunition one is allowed to buy at one time, the law-abiding citizens still have a right to own a firearm.

There has been a huge increase of gun related deaths in the US United States and the related stories have been all over the news and newspapers. Taking guns out of circulation could be helpful, but is not likely to completely solve the problem. A current issue in the United States is gun control, and whether or not the government can, or should take away our right to own them is the big debate. There have been numerous situations covered by the news media where guns have been used to take lives in an outburst of anger, or during a mental breakdown of some kind. Currently, it seems that the government is trying to take away all guns including ones that people use for sport, hunting and self-defense.

[1] This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives. [2]” (Fact Sheet) Some people in the U.S. believe guns are dangerous and no one should have a gun so the solution should be to have a gun ban law be past. But in reality that would not work because without guns in the hands of good people chaos would happen in the U.S. Having gun control laws made from the government, such as taking guns from current owners will not work in reducing crime relating in gun violence because criminals will always have a way to get guns whether it is black markets, across borders or illegal street sale.

Although some people argue that there should be gun control in America, history and evidence proves that there should not be gun control in America. Many people claim that if there aren’t any guns, it keeps people more safe. They also claim that no guns would prevent mass shootings. First, guns do keep people safe. Second, guns don’t kill people. When payments aren’t made to the state, it always results in being in debt and credit being ruined which makes it really hard to make a living. Calls from debt collectors include being harassed, threats, and force which can stress a person out. The state tries to control what people do in their own homes, while the mob sells what you need for personal entertainment. The mafia’s responsibility is keeping their people protected and satisfied by offering them the best plan in order to feel free from harm. They do not keep you from possessing a gun in order to feel safe, while the state makes it difficult to own a gun by doing background checks in order to be secure. The state over-prices their products in order to gain more money, and expect the people can take care of themselves. The mafia is able to limit crime in the areas they are protecting, if a person feels they’re in danger a phone call made to the police may risk their life and many others. The state is a business and could care less, on how they make their money. Government agencies are much more high-priced due to the amount of fees, while the mob’s protection is a lot less

Because the organization is so large and has an abundance of memebers, they are able to commit an abudance of crimes. Their mostly known for crimes such as: “Its illicit activities include labor and construction racketeering, gambling, loansharking, extortion, money laundering, prostitution, fraud, hijacking, pier thefts, and fencing”. The Mafia keeps their illegal activities current with the times. When Prohibition was in effect, the familes of the Mafia sold, and disbrubuted alchochol. In the 70’s when illegal drugs became popular, they sold the drugs.

Imagine living in a world where crime ruled. A world where gangsters were more powerful than politicians, owned the police, and ran the city in whatever way they felt. They robbed whom they wanted and killed when they didn't get their way. Now stop imagining and realize that this happened here in the United States of America in the 1920's. It was run by an organization made up mainly of Italians called the Mafia.

Well, it’s not actually quite that simple. The Mafia does a multitude of different things. Some of these things include: murder, extortion, corruption of public officials, gambling, labor racketeering, loan sharking, and tax fraud schemes. Nowadays, they do much more than just smuggling illegal alcohol around like back during Prohibition times, although they still sometimes do engage in the same or similar activity, such as drug smuggling.
