For As long as people have had hair, they have needed a way to tame their hair's tangles. It has provided mankind with a method of detangling their hair for thousands of years, though it has evolved and improved over time. Many types of hairbrushes have been dated back to ancient times. We cannot pinpoint the exact time and place of the invention of the hairbrush as it has been utilised by so many cultures and civilisations such as Ancient Egypt, since the beginning of mankind. What started out as a very basic grooming implement, the hair brush has morphed into a highly specialised grooming and styling tool.

Tangles - detangling is best done before the child’s hair is washed. Use a wide tooth comb and start at the bottom of the hair, working your way up. Tangles can cause terrible battles between the parent and child. To reduce the pain of combing tangled hair, hold the section of hair you are trying to comb tightly. For extremely hard tangles, a good de tangler will help.
New fibers are developed continuously that are better resistant to heat and have an appearance closer to human hair. Mixed hair can be styled with heating tools at a very low temperature. Using tools that are too hot on these blended wigs will cause them to melt, frizz and shrivel up.
Although a lot of hair dryers may look very different from the outside, but not much has changed on the inside since the 1920’s, aside from adding some safety precautions, most hairdryers still use a heating element and a motor driven fan. By using the heating element and fan, a hairdryer converts the electrical energy to convectional heat.
Hair in the 1910s became more fitted to the head and it started to be cut shorter. The hair was also seen in a bun. Pin seen were long and held the larger hats in place. The pins would have flowers made from ivory, enamel, leather and jet on them and other gems were also seen. Pins were made from metals such as steal and gold. Over the sharp end of the pin, a cap would be put on to provide protection when they were in the hair. World War 1 led to women being viewed differently and in 1918 women were able to vote.
Hair is an aspect of identity many women are made to confront. It is a projection of how a woman would like to be perceived and who she believes she is within her society. Black women in America face an interesting dilemma when it comes to hair. When African slaves were brought to America, they were confronted with the Eurocentric ideal of beauty, which, in addition to pale skin and Anglo Saxon facial structure, also included straightened hair. As time progressed, black people sought new ways to assimilate.
