Throughout the play Hamlet is seeking revenge. He is angry and spiteful towards Claudius for the murder of his father. There is a lesson to be learned from his seeking of revenge, that revenge doesn't ever go as planned.
Hamlet is angry and he doesn't believe his mom should have married so soon after his father's death (Act 1 Scene 1) He is angry that his mother married his uncle and disgusted. (Act 1 Scene 1) Hamlet learns of Claudius murdering his father from the ghost, the ghost is of his late father, and Hamlet speak and the ghost tells Hamlet to avenge him. (Act 1 Scene 5) Hamlet plans a play called Mousetrap to see if the King, Claudius is guilty. (Act 2 Scene 2) Hamlet tells Ophelia "I hereby declare we will have no more marriage. …show more content…

Meanwhile, Hamlet returns from England to find that Ophelia has killed herself because of the grief of the death of her father. Hamlet feels terribly sorry for the loss of Ophelia. Laertes challenges Hamlet’s love for Ophelia making Hamlet want to prove he loved her “ I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers, if you added all their love together, couldn’t match mine. What are you going to do for her?” (Act 5 Scene 1) Laertes and Claudius set up for Hamlet to fence Laertes, Osric asks Hamlet to fence Laertes knowing this is how they are going to kill Hamlet. (Act 5 Scene 2) Not knowing the wine is poisoned Gertrude drinks wine. ( Act 5 Scene 2) Hamlet finds out that the cup is poisoned because the wine kills his mother, Laertes is wounded by his own sword and dies because the poison, Hamlet is wounded by the poisoned sword, Hamlet forces Claudius to drink the poisoned wine. That is the end of the play, this play show that because of one evil murder and the plot for revenge just killed 8 people, it didn’t do anyone any good.
