"If my men are too scared to return without Hannah Curtis, I will happily let Miss Curtis kill them. There is no room for cowardice in these ranks, boys. I, however, am no coward and an honorable warrior will let me go free back to my Queen." The Commander sounds disgusted as he raises his voice to address me, assuming I'm somewhere near him. Which is true, obviously, yet he can't be sure. There was no way I would let any of the Queen's Guard go free. The man has to know that. I applaud him mentally for having the nerve to ask. He certainly is no coward. If I reveal myself, I would have no choice but to cut them all down. Not an option. Instead, I hold my breath and wait. After a few moment's more discussion, the soldiers head back in the …show more content…
A few deep breaths later, I make the call again. I continue this pattern until I reach a clearing approximately 10 meters across. I switch calls and my five friends come out of the shadows one by one at random intervals, having followed the call to this clearing. Kaitlin is first, followed by Jill, Adriana, Nicole, and Courtney. We all wear the same black clothing, looking the bit the rogues we are. I grin and we hug each other, celebrating that the troops were awful shots and that we had all survived the "dangerous" encounter. Were any of us truly in fear? No, of course not. Therefore, we prepare for the night, making camp and sitting under the stars in the clearing as night falls around us like a protective shield. We don't dare risk a fire, the troops might detect it, but it is a warmer night anyways. "I perceive the mission went smoothly. The target was neutralized quickly, and everyone survived with no injuries at all," I say, looking around the …show more content…
What we do is dangerous, we know. That won't going to stop us from doing it. The Queen deserves to be defeated. Which means we will defeat her. I'm still smiling as I turn to Kaitlin, "set the watches, I'll be back." "Where are you going?" Courtney asks, looking up from the orange she has begun peeling. I stop at the edge of the clearing and look at her for a moment. "I'll be back," I repeat, trusting that they'll just take my word for it. They nod and go back to eating and talking. I walk through the darkening forest, leaves crunching with barely a sound under my boots, ferns, bushes, and low branches brushing my clothes and face. I act as a silent shadow moving through the trees until I reach the tree-line. The Village of Thayne lies down a sloping hill off to the left from where I stand. Rolling green hills surround the meager village, encompassing it in a valley. I look to the right where the hills turn into a sharp, steep cliff. At the bottom of that cliff lies a gorge. The Gorge we call it, the Queen's military headquarters. The bottom is sandy and fences with barbed wire stand on all sides of the installation, attempting to dissuade visitors. We had just proven the fence pointless, in
Next, the Queen inspires patriotism in her troops by leading through example. She lets the troops know that she is there “to live and die amongst [them] all,” in order to convince them that she is there for more than just superficial support of her troops. She knows that if she were simply there to rile up the troops, they would some to resent her for being a hypocrite for standing on the sidelines and not joining in the war effort. By saying that “[she herself]
Calling upon pathos, Queen Elizabeth proves her loyalty to her subjects by telling them “I am come amongst you, as you see, at this time, not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live and die amongst you all.” But would the queen really fight beside her nation? Of course not, England could not risk the catastrophic terror the death of a monarch would bring. But her statement certainly serves its purpose, as it gives relatability.
It wasn’t like any other swim practice, no, not like any other I’d ever gone to. No one usually moved to Minot, North Dakota that was also in swimming, so when Emily Pitcher and her family moved to town and came to practice, it was quite a shock for everyone on the team. She moved from Colorado and she had 2 younger brothers and a younger sister as well. They seemed nice enough but there was something about Emily, who was my age, which seemed a bit off.
Throughout our lives, we all make sacrifices in order to achieve our goals or to help others achieve their goals. For some, this may mean sacrificing friendships or family time, or for others it may mean sacrificing money and other dreams which may also be of great importance to us. A person who has made many sacrifices in order to achieve their aspirations or goals is someone with strength, determination and masses of will-power, and it is someone who is not prepared to give up on their dream.
When my mom married my step-dad, Jon, in 2009, I was only eight. I had to move and I was getting a whole new family that I had never even met before, so of course I was scared. I met Mabel Hickman a little while after the wedding. She was a family friend that my step-dad had grown up with. Mabel was the nicest person I had met in my life and she made me feel very welcome. She was born on December 25, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana. She met her husband, Marvin, at Fort Custer when she was in her late teens. They got married not too long after meeting each other on October 31, 1940 when Mabel was only 17. Unfortunately, Mabel died last year when she got sick. Mabel Hickman is my hero because she never stopped being nice to people, even though she went through a lot or even if the person didn’t deserve her kindness. Not only was the nicest person I had ever met, but she was amazingly talented.
“But dozens of people didn’t die and the one who set off the bomb is dead and there is no sights that the Order knows where this base is,” Samuel’s voice answer, sharply. “We have the situation under control and it will not happen again.”
What would you want to hear, going into battle where you will most likely die? Would you want to be treated as if you were going to die, or be energized by your leader about you winning the fight? In Queen Elizabeth’s speech to her troops about the upcoming battle against Spain, she was able to both empathize with her troops as well as prepare them for the fight of their lives. Queen Elizabeth made sure that everyone know that she trusted her troops and that they wouldn’t be out there alone.
All I remember is running through the halls trying to find the closest closet or classroom with Debra when suddenly I tripped over her foot and everything goes black.
Amanda Stanton shared that she is not going to blame editing, but she does say that some stuff was left out. Of course, the fans don't know the entire Amanda and Nick story, but now she is sharing it. Before going on the show, Amanda and Nick did meet a few times and even talked about going on the show. Amanda also shared that she had a bit of a crush on him. When Amanda and Nick talked before the show, he did tell her he was thinking about going, but he wanted to meet Jen Saviano.
“It was just the trees, Max.” I mutter to myself. About five minutes later I hear it again, I stop dead in my tracks. “Who’s there!?” I shout.
The guard with no expression on his face denied the higher ranks of this town. The chairman begged that he be the best to his rulers. Just as the man and his wife were to lose hope the king’s voice broke through the crowd of poor folk. It was as quiet as a mouse taking the leftover cheese of a splendid feast. The king’s head popped out of the buggy and seemed at peace. “Now, guard,” he chuckled. “Let me dine with these fine people at least.”
Hola Diana, hope it's not too hot over there for you. That story about the baby dolphin is terrible, yet another tale of how stupid and uncaring people can be. That series with Chris Packham was on here not too long ago, Next time you watch it see what year it was made, we've had 2 series of it I think. He presents winter watch , spring watch and autumn watch with 2 other presenters, they put cameras next to bird's nests and badger sets to see how they all live and feed their young, it's a really good programme. I'll post this bit while I can, next part after I've had my tea.
The sand seemed to retreat in fear as the men clad in steel armour trod upon it. The crowds parted as the foreign men climbed the crumbling stone steps that approached the palace, a single strong soldier clad in thick armour considerably different from the group who had so uninvitedly approached the palace stepped forward and halted the group from proceeding.
“I heard His Highness is looking for a Champion,” she said, “someone to deal with the traitors who pollute this empire.”
An old man could not help but stand up, he said, “Roth lost guards, lost the most powerful subordinates, and now even the guards are free to mobilize under the command of Miss Cassie, we should take advantage of this opportunity to overthrow the damn dictator!”
