She shows that this is her focus by mentioning many things such as man-made disasters, the disagreements between parties, famine, and accountable governments. Rainsford shows his determination through his swimming and Farah shows hers through her walking. Rainsford survives the dangerous sea and Farah reaches Pakistan, both are successful in their journey.
