There are two sides to a raccoon – the arboreal and the terrestrial. When a female coon is in the tree, caring for young, she is one thing. When she descends and steps off onto solid earth to prowl and hunt, she is quite another. In the tree she seems dainty and charming; the circles under her eyes make her look slightly dissipated and deserving of sympathy. The moment she hits the ground, all this changes; she seems predatory, sinister, and as close to evil as anything in Nature (which contains no evil) can be. If I were an Indian, naming animals, I would call the raccoon He Who Has the Perpetual Hangover. This morning, conditions inside the hole are probably unbearable. The kittens are quite big now, the sun is hot, and the hole is none too
Punch-drunk is a British company that performs a wide variety of theatrical performances and transforms them into the wild and the peculiar. It was founded in 2000 (En.wikipedia.org. (2017) by Artist and Director Felix Barrett, who was award an MBE on July 5th 2017 for his work in the theatre industry (Anon, (2017). The Company has been producing shows for 17 years, taking classical storytelling and adding their own twist on the story. The stories are then turned into real-life pieces that are not staged in a typical classical theatre, but in various locations that are well-suited to each part of the story for example, an old warehouse or an ancient asylum. This gives the audience a sensory perception of the world around them and presents them with a joyful experience of witnessing a story told in a way that’s not just the lifeless classical proscenium arch stage layout and more of a place where they can watch the action at different angles taking audience awareness out of the picture and applying the “Fourth wall technique” used by Dennis Diderot (En.wikipedia.org. (2017). This keeps the audience on edge and scares ordinary audiences away from Punch-drunk as the work that they produce is regarded as “out of the ordinary “by most classical theatre audiences. Some of the parts of the story contains physical theatre (Punch-drunk (2017). making the performance non-naturalistic and naturalistic, simultaneously.

Binge drinking is one of the third most preventable causing deaths in the United States (McGinnis & Foege, 1993). At the micro level most teens do it to seek acceptance from within their group of peers and we also undergo peer pressure and think they need to drink to be able to be accepted and then at the mid-range level most college males students drink to seek their masculinity from within a friend group. Then once at the macro level different countries with different culture values may drink alcohol more than others even though they may drink more there still is a chance that someone may develop alcoholism.Such things as symbolic interactionism, conflict, and functionalist perspective are all associated with binge drinking
Alcoholics Anonymous was founded in 1935 in Akron Ohio by Dr.Bob and Bill. They created this organization because they were alcoholics trying to get over their addiction at the time, they wanted to expand this group to help out even more people. How this organization started to take off and expand farther than Akron Ohio is, the two men Dr.Bob and Bill went to the hospital in Akron Ohio to help the alcoholics in the hospital. This man that they helped in the hospital helped the two men start the first AA group, later on the idea spread to New York which started the second group, a third group started in Cleveland, within these three “founding” groups it took over four years to produce 100 sober people out of the three groups together.
Every person has to deal with some sort of conflict during their life. For some, their problem is external. Others face an internal struggle that they try to deal with by themselves. Few people deal with both simultaneously, especially to such a high degree. The Alcoholic written by Jonathan Ames and Illustrated by Dean Haspiel revolves around Jonathan, a man living in New York that has an addiction to both alcohol and drugs. During this period of time, the event of September 11th has just occured. The story tells Jonathan's struggles through the event as he deals with his external and internal conflict. Ames and Haspiels work depicts the struggles of an addict that has gone through a horrific event while doing a great job at presenting
On 09-13-2016, at approximately 2200 hours, I was notified by Cpl. Keene of a deceased person at 11408 Memorial Highway in Tampa. Upon my arrival at approximately 2235 hours, I met with Sgt. Gundersen and Deputy M. Armstrong. Joseph Derocher who is the roommate of Pytlik, said he had dinner with Pytlik last night and watched TV with him this morning and left the house around 0700 hours and said he was fine. Derocher came home about 1930 hours and saw Pytlik sleeping on the couch, which is where he usually passed out after drinking. Derocher tried to wake him up around 2040 hours and said he was cold and stiff to the touch. Derocher said he then called 911. Derocher said Pytlik is an alcoholic and had been staying with him for about 1
Thomas R. Burke, in the article The Economic Impact of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, writes about how alcohol severely affects our nation. This obviously is in the economic sense. Burke addresses how alcohol is the most common used “drug” in the United States. He informs us that no person in this culture is immune from the epidemic that is alcoholism. He goes on to list all the ages that might be affected -- All the way from youths to the elderly. The article goes on to mention how much alcoholics cost the economy. At this time, 1983 it was a reported $117 billion and it was expected to rise. In 2010 is rose to $249 billion. Burke claims “A recent study estimates that as many as one half of all out homeless in America suffer from alcohol abuse and alcoholism”. If the emotional factors of alcoholism are not enough to want to make us help, then maybe the economic state of our nation will.
When you make the decision to go out drinking it is best to be prepared. Always be sure you have extra money for a cab or have a designated driver tag along so you can insure that you can have a safe ride home if you end up unable. But if you can not find a sober friend to drive for you or you don’t have the extra money for a cab home, I would suggest that you simply stay home to have a few drinks or maybe try again on another day when you would be able to have a friend or cab assist you. Or maybe you could all plan for a drinking night at one designated place where everyone can stay over night if they need to. If you make the conscious decision to drink then you should first and before most be responsible. You don’t want anyone getting hurt
Nakae Chomin wrote A Discourse by Three Drunkards on Government in 1887. It is a work of debate literature that presents us with multi-dimensional characters with very specific and indefinable beliefs about how Japan should be run. Nakae Chomin studied in France for some time and this certainly must have influenced his thoughts and writings.
“Thanatos, Drunk” is the best work that the director Chang Tso-chi ever made, because it deals with extremely complex emotions through a delicate plot. The beautiful story of this film feels just like a knife that slowly stabs into audience’s heart and reveal everyone’s deepest feelings. The story is about Rat and his elder brother Shanghe, who live on the edge of Taipei City, trying to live their lives and handle their own personal relationship. Rat worships his cousin’s boyfriend Shuo, because he is a fancy guy with great personality. So, Shuo naturally steps deeper in the lives of the two brothers’
Furthermore, many scholars argued that heavy drinking may be associated with negative mental and physical health. Evidence demonstrates that exposure to alcohol can cause irreversible brain damage. After reading various research, I determined that age is an important factor in the development of alcohol tolerance, and I also reflected on the outcome it can have on the brain. Marisa M Silveri, an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School carried out a research on separate age groups, and came out with the following results:
How would you define the average drinker and mostly where do you think he or she spends there time drinking at. Does it always have to be a harmful thought or assumption that there’s too much on their mind? So maybe they tend to stray from reality for a bit with a glass of liquid that requires acquired taste. For a moment my thoughts float then proceed to come down targeting the first customer that has walked in. Approaching the bar, stood a man in his mid-forties with blue jeans and a vintage Nebraska jacket. The man begins to greet the familiar face he’s accustomed to every morning. How you doing Mrs. Dailey, she replies doing well as he sits in a stool facing a wide range of bottles. “What will it be today Joe, he responds with a miller.
If you have any doubts about whether or not you have a drinking problem, you might want to consider answering the "20 Questions" provided by A.A. Based on the organization's criteria, three positive responses is an indication you may suffer from alcoholism. If the process leads you to that realization, you should seriously consider using that as motivation to stop drinking and ask for help in dealing with your addiction.
The holiday season means at least one thing is certain every year. The family drunk has one too many drinks, their light fuse hits its target and the party becomes World War III. During the frantic aftermath, at least one person is trying to figure out what set them off, what started everything. However while most of the parties involved are able to go home, or go to sleep that night knowing that they do not have to see or think about something like that happening again, what about their children? Children of Alcoholics have to live with this behaviour everyday. Alcoholics function with no predictability, These children have no sense of stability other than expecting this erratic behaviour.
In Eugene O’Neill’s tragic drama Before Breakfast O’Neill creates an unescapable situation for his antagonist character Alfred by using his protagonist character Mrs. Rowland to expose all of Alfred’s faults and prod him about his uselessness that leads to the rising action of the play. Furthering her argument she says how she does everything around the house and works a job to put what little food she could on the table. In this play the dramatic structure of this play leads up to a psychological break in Alberts mind due to the lack of employment, the lack of self-esteem and the excessive consumption of alcohol which inevitability leads to Alfred committing suicide.
