Cost, quality, and access are three major goals of the health care system. One of the problems to get access is Distance. In the remote areas, access to facility of health is impassible for many people. This video emphasizes on access of the health care. University of Kentucky has created some little rural hospitals with the same university’s standards. They use a virtual network system and high performance by transferring referring physicians in those little hospitals which all patients in rural can do any medical treatments or any tests. Doctors send patient to main hospital, when they need to do something more professional medical treatment and prevent them from doing duplicate tests by recording their medical history. In some areas, they
The use of technology in HIM department works out well and effectively. Each patient who is new is assigned a unique medical record number and it always remains the same for the patient each time he/she want to get health care from this health care system. Another system
One area where access to care is a problem is in the rural communities. Healthcare professionals including physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses all affect the quality and cost of care (Derksen, & Whelan, 2009). Going forward importance needs to be placed on using recourses more efficiently and effectively; these resources include but are not limited to tests, prescriptions,
centers are situated in rural and urban areas for their convenience and the payment of such health
This can be a significant burden in the means of time and money. In additions, due to the lack of reliable transportation many would opt to not receive the proper medical care. One main important aspect of creating a RUC is in rural communities there are more elderly residents, who suffer from chronic conditions, which may require multiple visits to receive proper care. The main goal is to create a medical center that will exceed patients’ expectations, to provide high-quality and help serve the community’s
Rural Americans face the struggle of accessing healthcare, both preventative services and also specialty care, here in America. What is the cause most often? Distance. According to a study conducted by Buzza et al (2011), those surveyed believed that distance was perhaps the most important reason for lack of access to healthcare on a variety of the spectrum to include: routine healthcare, emergency care, specialty care, and in some cases diagnostic services. What the study found was that among other things, improved means of getting to said services would in turn, improve access to healthcare services for rural Americans.
Access to applicable health services is often limited for people living in remote areas and for those with restricted mobility. One of the innovative implementation for a sustainable health care system in minimizing this inequality in access is Telehealth services (Bywood, P et.al, 2013). The aim of this study is to analyze the possible challenges encountered during the provision of using advanced telecommunication systems in the health care system.
Accessing health care services can be very challenging for rural residents. Sometimes, they must traveling long distances to seek critical care. Because rural hospitals are usually the sole source for patient care, they are better positioned to offer additional health care services. Critical Access Hospitals are required to improve care for rural patients by improving access to urgent care services and meeting previously unmet community health needs. They are expected to
The study focused on issues with the Information Communication Technology infrastructure and knowledge of the participants in the study. According to the article, the results of the study revealed that the ICT infrastructure in place was inadequate for e-health implementations due to other pre-existing challenges (Ouma & Herselman 2008). Some of the previous challenges included, lack of computer equipment, lack of computer skills, internet connection, out-dated and unreliable equipment, lack of broadband connection, fear of computers and many more. An overall conclusion of the study revealed that previous mentioned challenges should be addressed in the case of rural hospitals. The plan to meet the challenges was to enforce extensive training for management to educate organizations about e-health implementation.
Rural residents need access to healthcare. These residents should have the ability to receive primary care in a convenient setting and do it confidently. “According to healthy People 2020, access to healthcare is
Proper movement and alignment of the body is essential for maintaining health and well-being. This is especially important during a hospital stay or while in a long term care facility. However, being in these facilities often contributes to decreased mobility as a result of clients being in bed the majority of their stay. To help prevent loss of mobility, facilities and providers utilize teaching videos, physical therapy, and proper transfer techniques as evidenced by case studies and observation of movement at the clinical site.
The article entitled, Clinical, Personal and Marketing Benefits of Patient Access by Dr. Paul Rosen talks about the crisis involving the lack of patient access within the health care field. This article discusses the measures that each facility and healthcare worker should take in order to ensure that more patients are seen throughout the business day. Furthermore, Dr. Rosen explains how he significantly shortened the time between when an individual calls his office to get an appointment and when he/she actually gets to see the doctor.
I found the video on the Mayo Clinic study that found two popular television shows inaccurately portray realities of violent crime. They compared how violence is represented on television compared to how it is represented from a public health perspective. The reason that this is important like they discussed in the video is because we in our society get a lot of our information from television so the things that are portrayed on the television whether that be through the actual news or a drama series we take both to heart some what. They try and make those drama series as real as possible for example CSI or Greys Anatomy are both very realistic in how they portray not only violence but life in general. Obviously things are still over dramatized
Remote Patient Monitoring – home daily monitoring, empowering patient to be responsible for their health
A challenge that many rural communities are dealing with is the lack of primary care physicians, specialist, understaffed hospitals, and transportation. “Only about ten percent of physicians practice in rural America despite the fact that nearly one-fourth of the population lives in these areas” (National Rural Health Association [NHRA], n.d., para. 2). Although, there are programs designed to improve patients access to hospitals and physicians in rural areas, provider access for these patients remains a barrier. Technology can bridge some of the gaps of care for these patients and it can be beneficial in many ways. With enhanced technology, primary care physicians and patients will be able to have support, access to quality care, improvement in self-management skills, which ultimately, will improve a patient’s health. To assist physicians with delivery of optimal care and for patients to be able to go to scheduled wellness visits with physicians, a new approach to solving rural health barriers are needed.
Even when one is able to pass the practical hurdles, one must deal with the social concerning hurdles such as language and cultural differences. Even with the help of organization such as World Health Organization, providing medical necessities remains a concerning problem. Healthcare providers must be able to subdue all of these hurdles to be able to provide adequate service to their rural patients.
