Both scrooge stories are good but they have their differences for example the scenarios are different, in the play the story is more visualized than the story, in the play the author is Israel Horovitz and in the play is Henry Edwards. In the play the charachters development is better than the movie,The characters are better described in the play but in the movie by visualizing them you know how they are, the characters emotions are more visuable than in the movie.
For example the characters, the characters is a detail that the play and the story make different for example the story does not give us a lot of details from the characters but the play give us the sufficient information of characters to know the difference between them, both types
Both the book and DVD are similar and different in many ways. One way that the movie and book of “A Christmas Carol” are similar is most of the sequence of events. In both the book and DVD it starts out by introducing the characters and then starting the plot of the story. Another way that they are similar is that they both involve a man named Ebenezer Scrooge as the main character. Scrooge is the main person who in both the movie and book, is in most of the events. The last way that they are similar is that they both involve three spirits that come and take Ebenezer on adventures into the past, present and future.
As the protagonist of the play, Scrooge’s decisions and actions are central to the theme and development of the production as a whole. Throughout the first part of the play it becomes obvious that a cycle of
Many people would agree that Puritan Jonathan Edwards and Rationalist Patrick Henry were both rhetorically effective because of their powerful use of pathos throughout their writings. But ultimately, Rationalist Patrick Henry was able to be more rhetorically convincing because of his strong and compelling use of ethos and logos.
One difference in the movie was that the Ghost of Christmas yet to come has a hand of skin. Not a hand without skin that was wrote in the book. I think that this makes a difference though because it doesn't show a big impact on the story. I think Charles Dickens put the skinless hand in his story to give his story a "chill-factor". I don't think that the director of the movie version of A Christmas Carol thought that it was a big deal or a big impact to the rest of the story. Another difference between book and movie is that Scrooge doesn't go to church at the end of the story. I think it makes a big difference though, because it shows how much Scrooge has changed since the three spirits came to visit him. It shows a before and after effect which I think made a big impact on the story. The last significant change between the book and the movie is that when Scrooge follows the Ghost of Christmas yet to come, he ends up falling into his grave. This is significant because Scrooge gets to meet the old Scrooge and gives him a slap in the face of reality of what's going to happen if things don't change. It's ironic too because it's the new Scrooge that wakes up on the bed in the morning.
Two infamous speakers during the 1700s, Patrick Henry and Jonathan Edwards had very influential orations. The speeches delivered by Jonathan Edwards, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," and Patrick Henry, "Speech to the Virginia Convention," differ in many respects. The speeches had different audiences, were set in different places, and had completely different subjects. Yet these speeches, delivered thirty-four years apart, had similarities. They both used logic, classical images, and restatement, but they varied in the use of emotion and Biblical references. Depending on the topic, and audience, each speaker used these techniques to add to his speech and make it more effective.
Zach Theard Honors English 11 October 2016 Macdougall Patrick Henry and Jonathan Edwards Comparison Essay In both Patrick Henry’s speech, “Speech to the Virginia Convention” and Jonathan Edwards speech,“Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” significant literary devices are used. During the movie, Regarding Henry, Henry goes through a traumatic accident that alters his personality. Before the accident, Henry was very mean to everyone, including his own wife and daughter. After the accident, Henry forgot everything about normal human behavior. He could not move his arms, nor could he speak. Because of this, Henry had to learn how to accomplish tasks in the same manner as he once was able to. This goes to prove that Henry’s natural state is his id, and throughout the movie, it becomes clear that his superego is learned. Once Henry begins to learn how he used to act, he reverts back to his child-like id.
Furthermore, Scrooge’s personality in Act 1 shows that he is a greedy person and did not care for the welfare of other human beings, and he is also depressed of something unknown in the story. Also there are major transitions from Act 1 to Act 2 in personality because, Scrooge starts off as a lonely heartless man in Act 1 to becoming a generous man with a heart in Act 2. Scrooge’s personality make a major transition from Act 1 to Act 2 by becoming a different person, but

From the story, “A Christmas Carol”, to the movie, “Scrooged”, there are many similarities and differences in the characters, symbols and even plot although much of it is due to the change in setting from the early 1840’s to the late 1980’s. Beginning with characters, Ebenezer Scrooge carries his overall theme of generosity or lack thereof into the movie where he is referred to as Frank Cross. Cross shows this in his Christmas gifts that he gives out to family and employees which happen to be no more than a fluffy towel. Scrooge expresses his lack of generosity by giving Bob Crachit, his employee, little to no christmas bonus and being unhappy with his request to take Christmas day off. In both the book and movie, Scrooge and Cross both start out with a very annoyed and almost depressed demeanor, both having a short temper and being very dismissive towards others. Cross was vain and very dedicated to his television company while Scrooge was a workaholic and the only thing he cared about was money. He also craved isolation as he would return home
How does one compare a play and a movie when both are based off of a book? The book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, has had many adaptations by aspiring producers and writers. One of these includes a 1984 adaptation under the same name starring George C Scott as the famed character Scrooge. Another of these adaptations is a live production; a play called A Christmas Carol as well, performed by the Palace Theatre in Manchester, New Hampshire. A play and a movie are very different of course; a movie can be shot over months while a play has to be performed live. These two shows had to use different techniques to tell the audience the story. Both of these focus on the central theme of the story; that the true meaning of christmas is giving,
The book and the movie are also different in many ways. The book had more detail in some things but the movie has a better way of showing it. One of the ways that it is different is in the movie Scrooge sold corn to the three men at the bank but in the book that never happened at all! Another thing that was different between the movie
