Heroes In The Outsiders

Fast forwarding to the part in the church, Johnny had run into the church for two reasons. One is that he wanted to help and the other is that he was going to keep Ponyboy safe no matter what happened and he did a great job of it.

A hero is someone that shows courage and bravery and is admired for their actions. Sometimes, a hero is someone unexpected and would never have been thought to be a hero by anyone because of who they are, or what and where they come from. One example of unexpected heroism, is from three greasers, Dallas Winston, Johnny Cade, and Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders. Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy can be considered heroes because of some actions and choices they made.

While at a movie theater, Dally is antagonizing and annoying several Soc girls. Johnny stands up to Dally, his hero, and states, “‘Leave her alone, Dally.’ ‘Huh?’ Dally was taken off guard. He stared at Johnny in disbelief. Johnny couldn't say ‘Boo’ to a goose. Johnny gulped and got a little pale, but he said, ‘You heard me. Leave her alone’” (24). It took all of Johnny’s bravery to stand up to his absolute idol. He was willing to stand up to a dangerous boy that could easily defeat him in a fight, to save others. Not only this, but when a church is burning down with children inside, Ponyboy states, ”Johnny wasn't behaving at all like his old self. ... he grinned at me. He wasn't scared either. That was the only time I can think of when I saw him without that defeated, suspicious look in his eyes” (92). Johnny gives his own life for kids who have futures. The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton is sold worldwide. This book sold more than 14 million copies. This hit has shown heroism throughout the book and readers never knew what was going to happen next. I personally think that a hero is Brave, Sticks up for Friends and Strangers, and also is willing to sacrifice his or her life for others. In The Outsiders Johnny best fits my personal description of a hero.

Hero. This word is mentioned frequently, but what makes a person a hero? Is heroism only saving the world from villains trying to enslave the human race, or can it be a small act of kindness? Can it be both? Yes, for a hero is someone who is brave, courageous and helps others in need. In the book The Outsiders, by S. E. Hinton, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally can be described as heroes because they are not afraid to step up, and help people. Ponyboy is a hero because he rescued people and befriended a soc. Similarly Johnny is a hero because he used his heroic qualities to help people. Finally Dally is a hero because of his kind and heroic actions towards Johnny. All three of these Greasers, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally show that heroism is not only a matter of saving the world, but it is also a matter of doing something for someone else.

A hero is someone who put's other people's needs before their own. They are selfless, caring, and show unconditional love. to be a hero, you must be strong and hardworking. In the novel The Outsiders, one of the main Greasers shows his heroism in many ways. That Greaser is Darry; he shows all of the qualities a hero would have. In The Outsiders, Darry takes over as the parents for his brothers Ponyboy and Sodapop, puts their needs before his own, and loves them unconditionally

Who do you think is a hero or has shown heroism through their life. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy’s interests and behavior contrasts his gang. For example, he hates to fight unless he has to, unlike his friends who fight for the fun of it or because everyone is doing it. Though he is the oddball of the group he still displayed great heroism throughout the book. In S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, Ponyboy displays many heroic traits and is a risk-taker. He shows great courage, his personality, and his actions are respected by many people.

Are there some people in your life that you would consider a hero? Well some of the of the characters in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, are considered heroes in their own way. Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy could all be classified as heros. They have proved on several occasions that they are heros.

Each element influences the big idea of flawed heroes and friendships to readers. With her powerful novel, Hinton is able to express the necessity of unity and brotherhood within a community, despite differences in classes, ages, or ideals.

The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, is a novel which tells the story of two rival gangs from Oklahoma in 1965. The rivalry is between Greasers who are much poorer than their counterparts from the west-side, the Socials. Ponyboy Curtis is the narrator of this story, and it is through his eyes that the events unfold. In this classic, there three characters who stood out from the rest: Darry Curtis, Dally Whinston and of course, Johnny Cade. But, are they heroes? To answer this question, one must first know what a hero is. In my opinion, a hero is a person who, in the face of danger, adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and self-sacrifice for the greater good.

Johnny was a hero too because before Pony and him stayed at the church. The socs came to Pony and Johnny about why were they walking their girlfriends home. Johnny also ran into the church with Ponyboy, demonstrating that he would do anything at the side of his friends. This helps the reader to understand many of the key themes in the novels, as it shows that the bond that the gang shares is stronger than any other bond they

A hero is someone that you look up to, someome who goes out of their way to help you or others at their expense. Hero’s, to me, are those who unexpectedly help you, because no one thinks they can because of who they are and where they come from. To me, hero’s posses qualities such as loyalty, courage, and kindness. A lot of people judge others based on the clothes they wear or their style of hair, but after reading this book, I feel that those sterotypes can be disproved by the three Greasers, Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy- Curtis from “The Outsiders”, who to me, are heros. They can all be considered heroes because of some of their actions and choices they made throughout the book.

In the beginning of the book Johnny showed a small act of heroism by defending the 2 girls from Dally. This part was surprising for Dally because Johnny respected and admired him. For Johnny to stand up for the 2 girls who were being bullied shows Johnny’s bravery. On page 25 after Dally stormed off from Johnny defending the girls, Cherry said, “Thanks. He had me scared to death.” This again shows Johnny did the right thing and even made Cherry and Marcia feel safe. Johnny also showed his heroism by saving the children in the burning church. After Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally finish their discussion they come back to see the abandoned church in flames. Johnny hops out of the car and doesn’t hesitate to save the children inside the church. Something important in this scene was Johnny didn’t only save the children but Pony as well. When they were both saving the kids, burning timber began to fall

Writer Joseph Campbell once said “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” Joseph Campbell knew a lot about heros, and so did S. E. Hinton when she wrote her book The Outsiders. S. E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, is a book about a boy named Ponyboy who runs away with his friend Johnny when he kills a Soc named Bob. In this book, 3 of the heros are named Johnny, Randy, and Sodapop.
