A hero is someone that shows courage and bravery and is admired for their actions. Sometimes, a hero is someone unexpected and would never have been thought to be a hero by anyone because of who they are, or what and where they come from. One example of unexpected heroism, is from three greasers, Dallas Winston, Johnny Cade, and Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders. Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy can be considered heroes because of some actions and choices they made.
Dally Winston can be considered a hero. In the book The Outsiders, it states that Dally hit Pony in the back to prevent him from burning and that he had given him a jacket. Later in the book it explains that if it weren’t for that jacket on his back and Dally smacking the fire off of him, he may have died of terrible burns. If Dally hadn’t hit Ponyboy in the back to knock the fire off of him, he probably would have died or been severely injured. He’d saved Pony’s life. If one saves a life, then one is a hero. For example firemen save people’s lives and they are considered heroes. So, since he saved Ponyboy’s life he is definitely a hero. Dally also had helped save the children from the burning church. While Dally can be considered a hero, he’s not as much

The Outsiders proclaims that Johnny followed Pony into the burning church and later it says that he and Pony both went to save the children. Johnny went into the burning church to save little kids he didn't even know. He was risking his life for strangers and even saved them. Sadly he eventually died from this. This means that he sacrificed his life for others which makes him a hero. Also, the book says that Johnny was gonna turn himself into the police so that Sodapop and Darry wouldn’t worry anymore about Pony. Again, he was putting others before himself. When someone is brave enough to risk their life and go to jail for others, they are pretty heroic. In conclusion, Johnny Cade is a
Hero. This word is mentioned frequently, but what makes a person a hero? Is heroism only saving the world from villains trying to enslave the human race, or can it be a small act of kindness? Can it be both? Yes, for a hero is someone who is brave, courageous and helps others in need. In the book The Outsiders, by S. E. Hinton, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally can be described as heroes because they are not afraid to step up, and help people. Ponyboy is a hero because he rescued people and befriended a soc. Similarly Johnny is a hero because he used his heroic qualities to help people. Finally Dally is a hero because of his kind and heroic actions towards Johnny. All three of these Greasers, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally show that heroism is not only a matter of saving the world, but it is also a matter of doing something for someone else.
A hero is someone who put's other people's needs before their own. They are selfless, caring, and show unconditional love. to be a hero, you must be strong and hardworking. In the novel The Outsiders, one of the main Greasers shows his heroism in many ways. That Greaser is Darry; he shows all of the qualities a hero would have. In The Outsiders, Darry takes over as the parents for his brothers Ponyboy and Sodapop, puts their needs before his own, and loves them unconditionally
Another factor that proves that Ponyboy is a hero is his personality. In the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of being a hero also includes their “fine qualities.” “’What in the world are you doing?’ Two-Bit's voice broke into my
Johnny was a hero too because before Pony and him stayed at the church. The socs came to Pony and Johnny about why were they walking their girlfriends home. Since the socs are very violent they got Ponyboy and tried to drown him in a fountain. Then Johnny killed one of the socs named Bob because if
The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, is a novel which tells the story of two rival gangs from Oklahoma in 1965. The rivalry is between Greasers who are much poorer than their counterparts from the west-side, the Socials. Ponyboy Curtis is the narrator of this story, and it is through his eyes that the events unfold. In this classic, there three characters who stood out from the rest: Darry Curtis, Dally Whinston and of course, Johnny Cade. But, are they heroes? To answer this question, one must first know what a hero is. In my opinion, a hero is a person who, in the face of danger, adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and self-sacrifice for the greater good.
Johnny Cade is hero because he was one of the Greasers that were saving the children in burning church without thinking. Johnny is a hero
In the novel, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are 3 Greasers that are heroes. Johnny is a hero, for many reasons, he is courageous, brave and he risked his life to save a lot of people. First, he saved Ponyboy from drowning in the fountain. Also, he saved some kids from the church that was on fire. Finally, Dally is a hero, for reasons just like Johnny, he saved Johnny from dying in the church. Also, Ponyboy is a hero,he also saved the kids from the church that was on fire.
First, Johnny is a hero because, he risks his life to save Ponyboy, and those kids from a burning church. On page 92 it says ”Johnny wasn't behaving at all like his old self. He looked
Darry is a hero because he gave up his dreams of being a football player and going to college to care for his brothers. Darry has a lot of responsibility for his age and is working two jobs to take care of his brothers Ponyboy and Sodapop. Both of his jobs are manual labor that requires muscle. Darry also tries to protect Ponyboy from getting hurt by the Socials because Ponyboy isn't street smart.
Greasers aren’t typically associated with the word “hero”, they are known for stealing, holding up gas stations and even having occasional gang fights. However, a hero is defined as someone who is brave, courageous and helps others in need. In The Outsiders, Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy show all of these heroic qualities, despite their Greaser titles. Because Ponyboy is never shown to be interested in wrong-doing, it wasn't out of character for him to show heroism.
To every situation, there is a hero and a hoodlum. Through my eyes, everyone is a hero in their own way. In the book “The Outsiders” each of the characters show that they have a little hero in them. In my opinion, the characters I thought that were the most heroic in the book are Darrel Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, and Johnny Cade. Here’s why.
Define heroic. What do you think the word heroic means. The word heroic means: a person that has the characteristics of a hero or heroine; very brave. But, some people are heroic in different ways. Like the character Ponyboy from the book “The Outsiders”. Ponyboy was heroic when, he came home to meet Darry and Sodapop, when he talks to Cherry for the first time, and when he stuck with Johnny in the worst of times. The Outsiders is a book that stars in the 1950’s when there was lots of problems. Ponyboy Curtis is a 14-year-old boy whose world has been turned upside down. His parents were killed in an automobile accident just eight months before The Outsiders story takes place in. He lives with his older brother, Darry, who is 20 years old and has legal custody of him and his other brother, Sodapop, who is 16 and dropped out of school.
Darrel Curtis proved in the novel The Outsiders that he has heroic attributes which therefore make him a hero. To be specific, Darry shows a caring parental role towards Ponyboy, Sodapop, and the Greaser gang. Darry stood up when both of his parents died and took their role. Darry took up two jobs to support his family. Darry was very motivated to go to college but, he didn’t due to the fact he knew he couldn’t support his family if he left. So, instead he was saving up to send Ponyboy to college this shows the hardship Darry goes too to help his family. Ponyboy describes Darry as a young man who grew up too fast and as handling things no one his age should have to. If Darry was substantially motivated to go to college and could have left his two younger brothers in a boys home, instead he stood with them together through their hard times. Darry stood up to the plate and took the responsibility of raising his two younger brothers and working two jobs to send one of them to college. As well as he actually shows compassion, and love toward his family which is a rare trait that is shown in someone in his circumstances would do. For example, when Ponyboy ran away with Johnny to the church Darry was on the search for them, he didn’t just move on like many would, he kept looking and looking and finally
“Suddenly, in the red glow and the haze, I remembered wondering what it was like in a burning ember.” (Hinton 22) In the Outsiders Johnny was the true hero in the story. Ponyboy knew without Johnny they wouldn’t be the same. Johnny ends up saving many people's lives because he knew it was the right thing and that is true heroism.
A hero is a person is a person that goes out of their own way for someone else. To me that definition of a hero makes Ponyboy a perfect hero. When the church was on fire he jumped out of the car and ran to check on the people standing by the church, when he heard the yelling coming from the church he did not hesitate to go in the burning church to save the little kids even though he could have easily died in that church. Ponyboy could always find ways to make Johnny feel better and help him even as he was being abused at home, I believe that he shows a lot of loyalty and selflessness in those times. I think that a hero should be liked by lots of people, if that's true then Ponyboy meets the criteria for a hero because even the socs liked him.
