A man who calls the police while others cower in fear. A woman who wins rights for equality. A boy who stands up against a bully. All heroes. All people that where nobody and became somebody. The man shows bravery by staring danger in the face and still taking a risk to save others. The woman does not only inspire people all around the world she succeeds in her goal. The boy that stands up to the bully does a little bit of everything. Although heroism means being brave in the face of danger, and having the ability to inspire when everyone may be out of hope, failing to accomplish a goal fails to make a hero.
A hero can help in a society by inspiring the people to become heroes themselves. In our world haveing cape or the ability to fly is

A excerpt from the article Love Triumphs: 6-Year-Old Becomes a Hero to Band of toddlers, Rescuers says “A 6-year-old boy walking down the road, holding a 5-month-old, surrounded by five toddlers who followed him around if he were their leader.” It is amazing to see such bravery and strength come through in a time of serious need. If that is not heroic what else could be. If a hero can be brave in the face of danger then use that bravery to inspire others like Malala and Love their on the path to become a great hero.
If a hero is brave and inspirational will they still be remembered if their not successful? If Neil Armstrong was not the first man to walk on the Moon and lost in the space race would he still be idolized? The answer is no. Most people do not even know who the second man was to land on the Moon. It may sound bad but it is saddly true. Even Abraham Lincoln a president almost everyone thinks was amazing would not be half as important if he failed to end slavery. There was many people before Lincoln who tried to end slavery but because he was successful he became a hero. Even in a primary source O Captain! My Captain it says, “The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won;” (Whiteman). Going to show that everybody was celebrating Lincoln for his success. Movies do the exact same thing to. Nearly never do the heroes we know and love fail in the end. They may go through hardships along the way but they nearly never do not catch the bad guy
A hero is defined as a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. As a child, Malala was raised in Pakistan by an advocate of education: her father. He ran a school that she attended throughout her childhood. But when Malala was only eleven, many Pakistani schools were being targeted by an extremist group called the Taliban. Due to these attacks, only 44% of Pakistan’s population are literate. Malala refused to stay silent about the injustices that were being inflicted upon her Pakistani brothers and sisters. Instead,
“It’s not easy to be a hero. You do it because of what you believe, not because of what other people deserve.” Anyone can face a challenge or a hardship. But what makes a true hero is how the person takes on the challenge. Often, heroes show feats of ingenuity and acts of bravery. Two heroes that acted during the American Civil Rights Movement, were Martin Luther King Jr, and Rosa Parks. A hero is a person who has demonstrated behaviors to ethically receive our appreciation and respect. A hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength within themselves to persevere and undergo hardships and calamity.
Courage and selflessness are words that describe heroes. Mundane people can be heroes when they have enough perseverance to do extraordinary tasks. They sacrifice their needs for others. Frederick Douglass was a brave, honorable and bold abolitionist, his heroism was impactful and it changed the mindset of many people.
Malala did not only have challenges to face, she had courage to overcome them. In the text it said, “Malala and her classmates stopped wearing their uniforms and began hiding their books under their clothing. Staying alive meant going to school had to be top secret.”(7) This is an example of courage because Malala and her classmates are risking their lives to go to school and get an education. “When asked on a Pakistan talk show about
Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives can be a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country. Even a parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. You don’t have to go to great lengths by risking your life to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Beowulf; a man whose greatness begun when he saved an entire kingdom from the clutches of the vile monster Grendel. Beowulf was known for countlessly putting his body and his life on the line to save his people. His courage and determination is what kept his legacy alive for all of these years. Not only that, but the respect he had for the people around him made him a remembered warrior as well. That’s what I think makes a hero. Being determined to get a job done, having the courage to step in and complete that job, and having enough respect for your people to still obey their wishes despite your apparent fame. The hero I will be writing about is the fictional Marvel Comics character known as the Black Panther (real name T’Challa). He and Beowulf
Every individual has a different perspective on what makes a person a hero, for it is not limited to a certain concept; determination, altruism and a hint of hardship and bravery can always birth a hero. Although many acts of heroism are seen and made everyday, the levels of these attributes vary. Abraham Lincoln and Harriet Tubman are both philanthropic, noble individuals that willingly spent their lives as abolitionists of slavery, and both are great examples of the highest levels of selflessness and heroism.
Everyone has heard the saying, “Not all heroes wear capes.” Well, why do people always say that? So girls can take a picture of the pizza delivery guy and use this quote as their instagram post? No. This has a deeper meaning. This implies that the purpose of a hero isn’t to fly around in spandex, but actually making an impact. Heroism is being able to face challenges with passion and drive, being courageous and determined to fight for the cause, but not always going with the flow.
During this tragedy Malala and her family showed a tremendous amount of courage as they stood up to the deadly terrorist. One example of courage that Malala’s dad showed was that he kept his school open. According to the text, “Despite the Taliban order, Malala’s father decided to keep his school open. This was incredibly dangerous, especially because the Taliban were gaining in Swat.” (7) This takes courage
One way an ordinary person can be heroic is by being helpful. An example of an act like this is in a poem called “Frederick Douglass,” a poem about an African-American man who was beaten but he had thoughts of wanting a world with freedom. In this text it says “visioning a world where none is lonely” (Douglass 8). This quote is about Frederick Douglass being captured to be a slave and beaten, and still had hopeful
Another idea of a hero was when Gandhi had stood up for his country; India. “Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's rights, and build religious and ethnic amity” plus he had “spent a number of years in jail in both South Africa and India”. In other words Gandhi never gave up showing everyone how India should be independent. Gandhi had stood out his way by leading marches to declare independence. Gandhi had been admired for his bravery (when he was thrown in jail a few times), his confidence (he never showed any sign of weakness) and perseverance (he had never gave up).
Heroism is bravery. “Meaning "man who exhibits great bravery” in any course of action is from 1660s in English.’’ (etymonline.com) Malala Yousafzai is a hero because she stands up for what she believes in and she demonstrates bravery. “As a child, she became an advocate for girls' education, which resulted in the Taliban issuing a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Malala when she was traveling home from school. She survived, and has continued to speak out on the importance of education.’’ (biography.com). Malala was very brave because she stands up for what she believes in even at a young age. Continuing to fight for what you believe in even when you are issuing a death threat is incredibly brave. “In order to hide her identity, she used the name Gul Makai. However, she was revealed to be the BBC blogger in December of that year. With a growing public platform, Yousafzai continued to speak out about her right, and the right of all women, to an education.’’ (biography.com) Bravery is all about perseverance, and Malala shows bravery with continuing to speak out about her rights and women’s rights even though her identity
In order to be a successful hero you must be a highly motivated person. Without motivation you would not be very successful because you would have no ambition to try and make a difference in the world. I think Rodney Dangerfield is a great example of this because he started he career at just 15 and he died while he was in the middle of a movie. Also when his wife tried to make him quit he just blew their many years of happiness and divorced her. In one of his quotes he stated, “At twenty a man is full of fight and hope. He wants to reform the world. When he’s seventy he still wants to reform the world” (Dangerfield 3).
Heroes act a certain way that people may not always take into mind. Heroes are always very determined, but humble and modest. They put others before themselves and keep their minds on their goals and never give up on what they’re doing and what they stand for, even when risks are involved. According to “The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an
What does make a hero a hero? Is it there looks? Alternatively, maybe is it their personality? However, the question is what are those essential qualities that make one a hero? Different people require different heroes to look up to or try to emulate. However, whoever it may be, they all possess certain qualities. My hero is my mother, for the reason that she is selfless, compassion, and courage. That kind of selflessness can often be premeditated, since concentrating on others' needs often winds up helping one accomplish one’s own goals. However, a heroic leader does so without any anticipation of a return. The display and concern show the care one has for others. This can often apparent itself in strong but gentle actions planned to increase the lives of others. Courage and bravery come to mind first when we think of heroism. However, it is difficult to achieve anything truly heroic unless one is up against overwhelming chances. As Nelson Mandela put it, "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it." These minor acts of heroism rarely attract any notice. A true hero is always sympathetic, benevolent and shows a great deal of compassion and sympathy to those poorly or in agony. He or she keeps away judgements; that are oriented to the self and embraces an attitude that serves others.
