Hearing God…
And he said unto Him, If now I have found grace in your sight, then show me a sign that You talk with me. Judges 6:17 (NKJV).
Gideon was brave man with and active spirit, obscured by what was going on in his surrounding yet he was motivated to undertake something great. We hear words like these, and we wonder, how do we know when God speaks to us? Sometimes we say it to ourselves with encouragement and conviction and that’s the mystery with God, is it Him or is it just me? Then there are times when we automatically just know, deep down inside and it’s enough to know it’s Him. Fortunately, Gods voice is unique—whether it comes through His still, small voice or through the words or writing of other people. It’s something we can come
Hunter steps back and smirks as Carter climbs to his feet and brushes off his clothes. Carter resists the urge to trip hunter as he runs toward the beach and up to Hillcrest. Carter walks up the dirt hill to the chapel. The path winds through the woods and the roots of the closely grown trees are used in place of stairs. Carter arrives at the chapel. They don’t use the space as often as they should. It is simple with large screen windows, a plain wooden cross, and unadorned altar at the front. They sing inside occasionally, but the campers often don’t care for the building, they find it oppressive. Carter pauses at the top of the hill. Surveying the camp spread out below him,
What images come to mind as you reflect on your childhood? Playgrounds, blackboards, and soccer balls may be among the warmest of memories. Yet for many mermaids swim their thoughts, princesses get swept of their feet, and lions roar to their loyal place in the animal kingdom. There is no doubt that today’s entertainment has most of its touch using classical influences. Walt Disney has produced animated films that have captured the heart and imagination of audiences of all ages around the world through the magic of storytelling and imagery. Many of us appreciate the imagination and magic that Disney puts into its animations with out knowing they are based off of classical and traditional storylines
Nebs pounded on the bridge door furiously with her hooves. She knew it was futile effort, but she persisted.
Could you ever imagine sending your child on a field trip knowing that end purpose was for them to die? GOD sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to earth ultimately for this trip. Desire coming from the flesh of a woman, Jesus Christ is GOD's son. Jesus walked the earth to teach us about his father and how he wished for us to live, so that our souls would be clean in order to reach the pearly gates of heaven.
Francis explains it's an old burial spot, that may even be old than him. While talking to Liam and Beckah the inflection of Francis' voice has a fearful quality. He tells the children to flee from this place. Through his special vision, Liam saw another spirit approaching. Liam realized the spirit was Fenris. Fenris attempts to grab Liam by the scruff, while simultaneously yelling, "Bring it to me, find it and bring it to me" Fenris also mentioned his brother in his rage-filled speech. Shortly after this outburst both spirts disappear and the day turn normal. Liam shared with the rest of the group what he just witnessed. They then decide to split up to question others in the town about Fenris' family.
In 2014, I attended the Hero's journey summer program in hope to discover myself and to become a better man. My father who has attended the program many of times introduced me to the foundation and thought I should give it a try under the Young Men’s program with 8 other teens from around the world. Nervous but also excited about discovering who I truly was and what brotherhood really meant I found myself becoming the best of friends with these guys for 7 days. During the trip I learned that in relationships it is not only about how much you have in common, but that you trust each other and can work together as one. I could not tell you those guys last name or their favorite video game but I can tell you that I knew they had my back no matter what.
There I was sitting at the table eating what the nuns like to call food what just looked like to me slop I was sitting with my friend Felix. He came across a carrot and it was a full-size carrot he just sat there and stared at it not even touching it if he did not hurry up and I was going to grab it and eat it.
My heart wasn’t with him and it had been this way since the moment he brought me home to his apartment above the garage the day we were wed. I had at this point given up fighting to free myself and sunk deep into my thoughts. Upon remembering the day we met I could recall almost every detail about him; from the twinkle in his eyes to the gleam of his golden watch. There was a gleam of hope which I saw when I looked at him much unlike the strain and exhaustion I see as he lurks in the grey shadows of the garage. Though I detested this awful place, it was not New York I longed to adventure away from, it was him. Him and his oh-so ordinary ways. I wished to live a life of the extravagant and the bold, a life with Tom, a life that was not
The Field Guide for the Hero’s Journey is a book that sets out different lessons to be learned. It is these mini stories that teach the core lessons that enable us to succeed. I will hit on the three most important aspects of these core teachings. This is what I have learned from the book, and how it affects my life.
Before we had time even to move, nothing remained of the three-master save some pieces of wreckage floating on the surface and an army of rats covering the rocks left bare by the receding tide. Thousands of heads rose, felt the wind, and we were scented, seen! To them we were fresh meat, after possible weeks of starving. We were shaken from what we saw.
One of the most influential book of all time could be Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand faces. In his book Campbell uncovers the pattern that I the foundation of every story ever told or yet to be discovered ‘The Hero’s Journey’. Campbell analysed the myths and legends from around the world and from different time periods and found that all the stories are a variation of one another told time and again throughout the history. Campbell gathered the main ideas from these stories, recognized them and came up with a pattern that binds all the stories, every story ever told The Hero’s Journey. Stories based on this pattern of Hero’s Journey articulates with the unconscious part
The army is in need of a few good men... to turn into women for the service of the troops!
God came to Gideon the son of Joash the Abiezrite. God tells him that he is going to lead His people and defeat the Midianites. God also tells him that while he is leading the people he will not die during battle. Even though Gideon heard the from God, and had faith, he still was not convinced and positive that this was true. Multiple times Gideon asked God for sign. An angel of the Lord came to Gideon and told Gideon to bring him a present. Gideon brought a kid which is a young lamb. This kid was most likely cooked already for his own meal. He had the kid in a basket and also brought broth in a pot and brought it to the angel of God. The angel then told GIdeon the lay out the flesh and pour out the broth. The angel then touched the meal with His staff and a fire consumed it. GIdeon was still not satisfied. One night he asked God to have dew dampen a fleece only and the ground over night. When he woke up, he was able to wring out water from the fleece, enough to fill up a bowl. He still was not satisfied. This time he asked God to do the opposite. He asked that the fleece be dry and the ground wet with dew. He woke up the next morning and the ground was wet with dew and the fleece was dry. Now he finally believed that God would deliver them from the hands of the
Gideon was part of an army that where full of men 30,000 plus, but was told by the lord
Gideon came from the weakest clan in Manasseh and he was the lowest ranking person in his family. His story started in Judges chapter six from 1191 B.C.-1144 B.C. At the time of Gideon, Deborah was the judge in Israel. During that time, the Lord commanded Gideon to use His strength to save Israel. The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and for seven years they were in the hands of the Midianties. Unsure of what the Lord was asking, Gideon prayed for a sign from the Lord. So, the Lord sent an angel. As Gideon was making a food offering to the Lord, the angel took the unleavened bread and fire consumed the meat to prove to Gideon he was the one God wanted to use to bring peace. This is the first time God asked Gideon to step out in faith. He builds an altar for the Lord where upon Gideon asked Him to show him another sign whether or not he would save Israel. Early in the morning, Gideon and all his men camped at the spring of Harod, where the Lord told him he had too many men with him. With only 300 men to bring into battle with him, Gideon split the men into three
