It’s difficult to imagine what your first time doing something will be like. You’ll hear many different stories about it and it’s still difficult to know what to expect. High school is one of the biggest concerns for teens now days. The night before, the anxiety of the next day may keep you awake for hours. Since you worry about it so much, you may not get the necessary sleep for the oncoming school day. I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. that night and couldn’t fall asleep until approximately 12:00 a.m. It was nerve-wracking to think that I may not fall asleep and would then be expected to wake up at 5:40 a.m. Although, when you think about it, high school follows the same concept as middle school. The only notable difference is the number of students
Have we as a community done all we can for our youth, more specifically our high school kids? Have we tried everything we possibly can? It seems like the community as a whole have done what we can for our toddlers, our elementary, junior high, and even for those who find themselves in jail. But what about high school kids? There is limited if any at all programs to help adolescents find their way to adulthood. What if we think outside of the box and try something new? Using deprived dogs that don’t have a home; to help save our troubled adolescences, that way we can teach them responsibility, compassion and social skills. While at the same time finding the unwanted dogs a forever home.
It was October 6, 1998 when he was lured from the bar that cold, fateful night. His skull was smashed with a pistol butt as he was lashed to a fence, left for dead in near freezing temperatures. Nearly eighteen hours later he was found by passersby and taken to a hospital where we remained in a coma for several days until slowly slipping away. At his funeral, picketers carried signs saying, "God Hates Fags" and *Fags Deserve to Die."
With the classic top-down, the kids are joking, passing the marijuana joints around and drowning their senses with beer, completely unconcerned that everyone can see them. To the people passing, it looks like a bunch of delinquent high school kids on drugs out looking for trouble. None of them the least bit concerned that at any given moment, a simple phone call to local law enforcement and their little party is over, and instead of heading to a festivity, accompanied to jail.

High school is a place normally portrayed in movies as either a hard, or easy place to survive. I went to high school in a small school outside of Salina Kansas, it was a fairly easy school but there were some tricks to getting by in high school.
Walking into the stadium the screaming is like a train trudging through. Straight ahead i can see through the people at the 8 mats surrounded by the hard, green seats Each mat is a different color from schools all around Minnesota. There are 3 sections of seating the main floor and then two smaller cushioned sections above. As I look to the left there is a mom screaming jumping up and down in tears because her unranked son just beat the 6th ranked guy. I can also point out the father of the young man that lost that match, his face is blank he can't believe what has just happened. On the mat straight ahead there are two of the best wrestlers in the state going head to head for a spot in the finals. One of them had his head wrapped in what used
We are two juniors at Warren Township High School. Our names are Marry Golden and Michelle Huico. Up to this point, we enjoy changing to the Almond Campus. A glamorous place with many colorful wallpapers and security guards. It was reassuring and it looks safe to stay in this school. The “Blue Devil” mascot especially gives us a great first impression. It’s been an exciting year for us so far. Many teachers at Warren are also great and they help us improve our grades significantly. What we want to say is important to us because our future is at stake; Therefore, our expectations are tremendously high. A healthy teenager should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep. Unfortunately, most of us wake up at 5:00 am, take a shower, eat breakfast if
I just got into it with my not-brother because his two-year old child was running around with food. Food on which she could have choked. I said something similar to "she could choke on that while she's running, so either take it away from her or have her sit down". He did neither, so I went to take it from her hand and he hit my wrist. He stood up and starting yelling and cursing, like I can't even explain how loud he was. I got behind one of the gates that prevent children from entering certain parts of the house and he said you think I can't get to you behind that gate. At that point I would've dialled 911 if Siri had heard me the first time. It resulted in my mom, wrapped in a bath towel, coming out of her bathroom to suppress the situation.
As you approach your first year of high school, you think nothing is going to change. After all, you are staying in your same school, with the same people, and you already own this place. You are probably about fifty percent right about that. Yes, you are staying in the same school, but the halls will become more crowded and your schedule more hectic. Yes, you’ll see the same people you did last year, but maybe just during lunch since as you walk into your first period you will notice that you don't recognize any of the faces there. And no, you do not own this place, but don't let that stop you from keeping your head up and making the best of it. Welcome to high school, The Heartbreak Games. PS: you're Ruth.
My fellow Huaorani we are facing a mass extinction. If we don’t act soon the tradition we have set up will disappear completely. The oil companies are trying to take over the ground beneath us because there is oil. They will stop at nothing to continue to make a profit and will show no mercy to us doing so. They look at us as if we are not even human, they show no respect for our traditions or our way of life.
High school is a vulnerable time for anybody. We all have been there. It is when people are changing and different friend groups are formed, and you might be a part of a group if you are lucky. However, if you are not so lucky and left out of the in-crowd then your picture might as well not even show up in the yearbook. For me, I have felt invisible in high school on multiple occasions. The first time is when I did not start on the football team. My coach overlooked all my hard work and effort that I had put in just to play even a mere minute at the varsity game on Friday nights. The next occurrence is when I had a crush on this cheerleader for months. I tried everything to get her attention but she always seemed to ignore me for an older and better looking senior. Feeling like you are not good enough and being overlooked is the worst way to live. It hurts more than physical pain. There is no hope besides graduating and moving on to a different stage in your life where you can at least attempt to be finally seen and recognized. I believe the character in the song “Invisible” by Robert Medici is a depressed high schooler that represents most the insecurities that the young high school population has.
As many of you the people reading this know what horrendous event occurred at Rockville high school. For those of you that don't know what occured, a 14 year old girl was sexual violated during school by an 18 and 17 year old males. This girl thought she could be safe and secure inside school walls which all students should. But now this so called safe haven that has been portrayed has now been breached. Many schools are now changing policies including the school i attend about going to the bathroom. Now there is a hall pass and sign out sheet required for every class for a student to use the bathroom. But not only are the schools worried. Parents are worried for their children's safety due to recent events.
They pass you in the hallway like a cold wind you feel the presence but you don’t see a face to the body. A body in the shadows unwilling to be recognized. Any slight acknowledgement of existence is unimaginable to the shadow. This shadow is not the darkness in a white wall this shadow is a person with warmth to a hand and a beating heart like any other. The only difference is that this young soul has never been in a world so massive with all different types of people with different styles and personalities. A new universe was opened.
*C. Motivation*: What if the person waiting on the list needing an organ transplant was someone you loved? Imagine if you had a brother or sister who had unexpectedly died and you were able to meet the person who received their heart, for example. Think of the satisfaction and possible comfort knowing that your brother or sister provided life for somebody else.
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
