High School Students Attending College

Going directly to college after high school can be completely beneficial to one’s life. It is what the government encourages while in high school and can easily be accomplished. By attending college at a young age you can live the infamous college life that so many adults speak of as “the best four years of my life”. These four years can be achieved and should be enjoyed. As a young student, one can have the stamina to attend class with hours on end. As a current college student, I see many adults coming back to college because they have been part of the group that has tried to succeed while only having a high school diploma. The truth of the matter is those high school students that realize that a four-year degree in college can secure a place in life that is acceptable for them will be the ones to succeed; furthermore, these students are the future of America.

One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.

One of the most important decisions in any teenager’s life is what they decide to do after high school, the choice is usually between college and deciding to get a job and start making money. Although the cost of education in America continues to rise, the benefits of a higher education are substantial and can be seen in the success of anyone who has a college degree.

Going to college will set the basis for your career pathway in the future. High school students contemplate that college is not the right choice for them, but there are multiple benefits that come with a college degree. If students decide to attend college, they may considerate it a waste of time and stress. Unlike high school for some, college needs taken seriously. Attending college prepares and gives you knowledge on what to expect when you start the career. Those who attend college are more than likely to get a higher wage job then individuals who decided not to join.

Being a high school student college is a huge thing to think about. College is a great opportunity to makes new friends and open up a whole new chapter in your life. I believe that everyone should go to college, and receive a college degree. College could benefit everyone. The benefits of a college degree are endless. With a college degree you could accomplish anything. You would more likely to get a high paying job, and are able to build a better life for yourself.

Why do students feel like they have to go to college? It is the norm to go to college right after high school because that is what everyone else does. The failure to complete college had been recognized as a personal problem. There are multiple responsibilities when it comes to going to college and some students are not quite ready to attend. Most students go to college for the wrong reasons, whether it is to get away from home or to have fun and party. With all the responsibilities that students have to uphold comes stress and even depression. About 33 percent of college students drop out of college for multiple reasons whether it is family issues, too much stress, full time job etc. Many students lack the funds in order to cover their tuition and other fees. This is one of the reasons why some students decide that dropping out of college is the answer. Attending college strengthens one’s knowledge and opens up their mind to new things. College students should stay in school, however,it is not for everyone. Students should not stay in college if they are not prepared or if they can not handle the pressure.

Society today is often very pressuring towards young adults when it comes to attending college. Maybe it’s because it is the most appropriate idea for people. College provides the average human with a higher satisfaction of life due to the experience and the positives outcomes than that of someone who chooses not to go to college. Although college results in the possibility of debt afterwards, it is still worth the journey.

As a junior in high school, I am already worrying about my potential college education in the future. College is daunting, especially for someone in a lower middle-class family, like myself. We barely have enough money to pay bills sometimes. As much as I would like to go to college and further my education, I do not believe that college is worth the cost.

It is a well known fact but there are many people including counselors, parents, teachers, and friends who resist saying it out loud for fear it will sound like discouragement and negativity: college is definitely not for everyone. The pressure on high schools students, especially those that excel, to attend a college or university is enormous. And in the case of a bright, industrious and motivated high school student, attending a college or university is an obvious career choice. For those students, it's only a matter of what university to attend, whether one's SAT score is high enough, and the availability of the money. Then there are the millions of high school students who are not really personally motivated but are being pressured by their counselors, teachers and parents should they attend college if they really don't care? This paper examines those issues.

ROTC programs are also helpful in college tuition. There are scholarships and courses that help an individual prepare to be an officer in the military. Typically the programs are their own courses and take at least four years to complete. After the courses are completed, the individual goes straight to the military for the branch, as an officer, he enrolled in. He also are given many different allowances. The allowances given are usually a housing allowance and a food allowance, depending on the region the individual is attending college. He also gets his tuition paid for, as well as money for books and monthly spending allowance (Yuengling). Worrying about college can be avoided from joining the military. The military even pays for children of veterans and active duty soldiers. Through the military an individual may be relieved, because of all the educational benefits provided for him. The military can help fuel the future of any soldier who wants the benefits.

In “Serve or Fail,” Dave Eggers dissatisfies the phenomenon that although college students have too much leisure, they are not willing to give a few hours doing community services. Eggers suggests that colleges should consider instituting a service requirement for graduation, and colleges are best-poised to create in their students a lifelong commitment to volunteering. He pointed out that there are even programs done by colleges and high schools in order to gain more than two million volunteer hours a year. Owning a lot of time, Being mature and able to handle wide range of tasks, and receiving the opportunity to discover a potential career, make Eggers believes that college students are uniquely suited to do volunteer work. Eggers admits

Most high school students think about attending college at some point, but there are many factors that go into deciding that choice. Whether attending a community college or a university. Whether its in state or out of state. Whether the cost is too high or just right. College takes a lot of time so make sure it's doable with your schedule before committing. If continuing your education is a priority for you, then college is the right choice. One of the biggest choices one must make is deciding whether college is the right choice for them.

Most times, students end up living a life they didn’t want after high school. With no degree, students may find themselves working at a labor or hardworking job making little money. College students are usually better off in their life with an efficient job and a healthy family.

The last year in high school, every high school senior is faced with the same questions. And have to make some very important decisions. The question of what do they want to do when they graduate? If they decide to go to college what do they want to major in? As well as what college do they want to go to? Many even have to decide on junior college verse a university and how can they benefit from either one. Many students think about going to a junior college just to start off their college career. As well as getting their basic courses out the way, while saving money. And other never think they would ever go to a junior college because of the myths.

In life, one of the biggest choices for a young person to make is if they’re going to college and which one to go to. Society expects young adults to make big life decisions as they near the end of their high school careers, but is it all that different? College and high school are similar in different ways but they each have their own strengths. It is up to you to decide whether furthering your education is the right step for you.
