Seniors in high school are often faced with the difficult decision of deciding where and if they should attend college. College does have its benefits but it is not for everyone while it may be the main goal for some graduates, not every student is interested. Seniors should be aware that college is not the only option after high school. Students usually stress out thinking about their future and finances, and although college will help a person gain more education and possibly more money in the future, not everyone can afford it or simply do not wish to attend anymore school after they graduate.

The military just like college requires graduates to meet certain qualifications they have set. Samantha Salas, a senior interested in joining the air force shares her reasoning for joining the military, “My schooling, housing and resources will be paid for meaning I can start my life and career debt free”. Salas also explains, “I will have a great job where I not only make my family proud but know I work in helping and aiding others in their times of need”. The military provides a lot for their recruiters such as paying for housing, schooling, and insurance. There tests a student must complete in order to be accepted, but the military is also not for everyone because of the difficult challenges a person faces while becoming part of the military.
Another alternative that other students may consider is working right after graduation. According to The article “Fewer US graduates Opt for College after High school” Floyd Harris explains that 51% of high school graduates who did not attend college had jobs months’ later after graduation. Antonio Quintana, a senior who has decided to work straight out of high school explains “I don’t need college for the career I chose to pursue, I don’t feel it’s necessary to strive and prosper.” He adds “college puts you in debt and adds to the load I already have to
