Many people believe that college is a priority, but college is very expensive. The books, room and board, and school supplies is what makes college so expensive for students. College is so expensive that student loans are higher than what students make each year. Why not give students the ability to have knowledge, than having to pay to get the knowledge in college. The majority of careers in today’s world is based on knowledge and technical skills. Free college allows all students to get equal education. In 2012 students payed an average of 23,872 dollars at 4 year universities for the year, not including books and supplies (U.S. Department of Education, 2014). This is nearly double the 14,216 paid in 1992 (U.S. Department of Education, 2014). Post- Secondary education is important not only for the financial security of the graduate but also to our national economy the government implement free education for students entering higher education because it would help our economy, work close the inequality gap, and people have a right to experience higher education. It would also help to combat storages in the logistics and skilled labor industry.

A college education has become a necessity in today’s civilization. Students all over the country are concentrating on their academics and are attempting to receive perfect grades. Think of it this way, what if you were working hard to support you and your family and you had to pay for your education, would you want to do it? A four-year degree has basically replaced the high school diploma as the necessary preparation for a career in this modern economy. Colleges should be free for every students. There are many obstacles that students face during each semester. Some of those obstacles are the work for classes, time management, and mostly stress. However, there are enormous numbers of people who are suffering from students loans after graduation or dropping out from colleges. Some cannot afford to repay for loans because their income is low and there are also many other bills to pay for such as rent, heat, and water. In other cases, many teenagers chose the workforce or the military because colleges is not cheap. The United States is a land of opportunity therefore colleges should be free to everyone. If colleges are free then everyone will have the opportunity to do something without stressing over about money/debts.

Universities and colleges should let students who cannot afford tuition attend for free. Higher education may put those attending into future debt that may be difficult to pay back. Many students struggling with affording payments may experience schedule conflicts between work and school. Providing free tuition not only helps the citizens of America to have a better future, but also helps the country.

In the world, we live in has many problems that need to be resolved but one that hits close to many students is free education.
