Historical Event
The most historic event that has had the most impact on mankind is the birth of Jesus Christ. This event has had the most profound significance for both Christians, and non Christians. No other life lived on this planet has so widely and deeply affected mankind. No other has made an impact through huge volumes of literature, in so many languages across the world. As we explore this event we cannot help but begin from where it all started.
God created earth and man perfect. Man was meant to have dominion over the earth, but fell into sin. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command, he had to punish them. Because of their sins, every human has been guilty of disobeying Gods righteous laws. As it states in Romans 3:23 (NLT) (For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard). The world was full of sin and chaos. From Adam to Jesus, God sent Prophets to warn mankind of what’s to come. The prophet Isaiah prophesied the birth of Jesus Christ at least 600 years prior to him being born. We see this in Isaiah 7:14 (NLT) (All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

In Matthew 1:16 (…Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah), and Matthew 1:18 (This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit). As we look further into the book of Isaiah we see in Isaiah 9:6 it says (For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of
In (Genesis 1:26-27 KJV.) We learn that all humanity was created in the image of God. Just like Adam and Eve we too are commanded to take care of the earth and create life. While human responsibility was made clear all humanity was susceptible to sin. To summarize Lecture 2. (2015), humanity’s purpose from the beginning of time has been to do good continually, learn wisdom be fearing the Lord and follow His example in deed and in thought.
English 102 is a college level of reading and writing course based on the theme monster. When I started the class, I thought monsters as scary creature in the books and movies. As I progressed in English 102, I found out monsters is more than what I though t is. Monsters can represent the fear of people and society, a problem in a society, something that is keep coming back and coming back(Such as financial crisis), natural hazard and danger. It also can serve as a warning; so, people avoid the same mistakes.
In reference to the history of punishment for crimes, which date back as far as 450 B.C., some of the earliest methods of punishment are replaced by more efficient and humane methods of punishments or corrections. Punishments back then were harsher, brutal, and inhumane because people strongly believed in the retributive approach to crimes committed by individuals. Punishments such as whippings, brandings, torture, beatings, and mutilations were in efforts to make the punishment as relevant as possible to the crime committed also known as corporal punishment. Liars had their tongues ripped out; thieves had their finger or hand cut
Here's a fun 4th of July activity to do with your kids this weekend. My toddler loves to paint, color, and draw (outside the lines of course!) as most kids do. I wanted to find something creative to do with him for the 4th of July and thought something to do with fireworks would be perfect. I found this great idea from www.learning4kids.net/2015/12/27/painting-fireworks/ and couldn’t wait to give it a try.
There is a common mistake that people make when concerning history. They make the mistake of assuming that history is what happened in the past, but history is much more than what happened in the past. History is formed from analyzing evidence from the past and making a connection. Many historians have different personal perspectives on history, and by using the historical method they can all draw conclusions as to what happened and advocate a theory. We find that history is much more than what happened in the past from reading, "The Strange Death of Silas Deane." This is a good example of applying the historical methods and producing a new theory based on reliable evidence. The author classified the important facts into groups of
There’s nothing quite like the summertime. For a lot of us the 4th of July is the highlight of the summer. Friends, family, food and fireworks can equal epic memories. Although we may be having the time of our lives, our pets do not always feel the same. In fact sometimes they can be downright terrified throughout the whole night.
Imagine you were a crew member of the USS Arizona on the “Day of Infamy.” As usual, there was a warm breeze that Sunday morning. You had just finished breakfast and drifted out of the compartment to get a little air because you had no work station to report to. Just as you left the mess area you heard this noise. You went outside to take a look because it's usually very quiet. When you arrived, you could hear and see there were airplanes. You looked across the bow of the ship and could see large plumes of smoke coming up from Ford Island. At first, you wouldn't realize it was a bombing. It didn't mean anything to you until a large group of planes came near the ship and you could see for the first time the rising sun emblem on the plane wings. The bombing was becoming heavier all around you and you knew this was REALLY IT! In the beginning there was a rush of fear, and your blood started to flow rapidly. It
Hurtado says in his book intimate Frontiers that “each newcomer transformed California the exotic into California the familiar, a long established pattern that yet continues” (133). I somewhat agree with Hurtado’s statement that everyone who migrated to California for whatever reason tried to convert California into a place that looks familiar, each and every person left their mark on California, and this is why California today is a blend of different cultures and different races. Even today we see a lot of immigrants try to fit in, in order to fit in they try to change things, make their temples, churches, mosques, they make their own community centers, they do this so that they don’t feel too alienated, they try to
It was for the 4th of July and was at a kid’s lake house nearly an hour away. It seemed as though his entire family showed up for this one party. The party started around 2pm and ended after 12. When my family and I parked, I remember thinking, “Are we the only people who don't drive a pick-up truck”. This was my first 4th of July party as well and I did not realize how big of a holiday it was for southerners. People either came dressed as Uncle Sam or had on every article of clothing with red white and blue on it they could manage to get their hands on. Every partygoer also came equipped with an American flag in either one or both hands. If you came to the party without one, as my family and I did, you were promptly handed one as you entered
4th of July is one of my favorites and personally one of the funniest holidays in my opinion. I like how it’s the only day that you are able to light up fireworks and the cops can’t stop you because the whole United States is lighting up fireworks. Love how we all get together as a family to buy fireworks and grill food and eat together and celebrate an Americans national Holiday.
If someone were to ask me right now, what my greatest experience would be I would, without any hesitation, say History Day. In the eighth grade, my friends and I decided to join National History Day, a program where students gather and research topics pertaining to a certain historic theme. I joined mostly because I wanted to learn something new and have fun with it, though I had no idea what to expect. As we brainstormed topics, we decided to do a performance on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, which we were all equally passionate about. As we dove headfirst into the research, I remember being overcome with emotion as I realized how similar we were to the girls who had perished in the fire. Many of them were our age and I immediately
The five most important events in history to me are the Great Depression, 911, Columbus’s landing, bomb invented, and World War 2. These are the most important events in history to me because they changed the world in many ways. They each had their own impact on the world. The events that happened aren’t very good or happy, but they changed the world for life.
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14 This was Isaiah’s response to King Ahaz, who refused to ask the Lord for a sign, but this was also a prophecy of how the Savior would come. God gave King Ahaz as well as the world a sign of hope which a virgin will conceive. “God with us,” is the meaning of Immanuel which the son shall be named. This gives hope that God will always be with us even through His son. This prophecy of Jesus’ being born of a virgin was fulfilled in the New Testament in the book of Matthew 1:20-23 which states, “But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be
The historical event or movement I believe had a great impact on missions today was the movement of women into missions. In Acts Priscilla, Aquila’s wife was helpful in reaching people for Christ in Rome, Greece and Asia Minor, women continued to play prominent roles in the early movement. In the 16th Century the Protestant Reformation brought about changes in the role of woman in Christianity.”…the Reformation also subjected woman to the confining perspective that their only recognized vocation was marriage.”[1] In the early Protestant mission advancement, the only women in the fields were wives of missionaries. Single woman were eventually permitted to go care for the children of the missionaries. Eventually, the doors opened for woman to
In Matthew 1, it talks about the bible’s genealogy, about who is who’s son and the family line until the present time at that time. It not only represents the genealogy but it shows the creation of the universe and man. In the KJV version, Jesus’ name is mentioned as Jesus Christ which is the same meaning as the Messiah (Hill, 75). The genealogy of Jesus starts from verse 1 to 16. In verse 16, it is telling the part of the genealogy where Jesus comes in and has his earthly parents be introduced. Joseph and Marry are married but as a virgin, Mary receives Jesus in her womb by the holy spirit. Later on in the text, the story of Jesus’ unique birth is presented. An angel of the Lord came to Joseph in a dream and the angel told him that Joseph will have a wife and that she will bear a son. Joseph was shocked and so the angel told Joseph that she is pregnant through the holy spirit and that the baby is to be named Jesus. In Greek, Jesus’ name means, Yahweh is Salvation (Hill, 79). Joseph obeys the angel and takes Marry as his wife and names the baby Jesus (KJV Bible, Matthew 1:18-25). Joseph was able to do all these things because he believed that God was with him.
