Boston has a rich performing arts history that dates back to 1794, when Charles Bulfinch designed the city's first playhouse. Today, there are several theaters around Boston, including the Wang Theatre. Located in the historic Theatre District, it was first known as the Metropolitan Theatre, then the Music Hall, before becoming the Wang Theatre in the early 1980s. At that time, the theatre was restored to its glory days of the 1920s, and since then, it has broken box office records with musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. The theatre holds 3,500 people and it has one of the largest stages in the United States. If you would like to watch a live performance, upcoming shows include: TruTV Impractical Jokers "Santiago
The setting of Boston in the mid-1600s is important to the work mainly because of the people. If it was set at any time afterwards, the people would have seemed out of context with their weird beliefs and practices and their strange forms of punishment and just the way they go about things. Also, the setting of the work goes along with the
I attended the Temple College Vocal Point concert on November 1, 2016 at 12:30 pm in the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre. The Theatre, located in the Mary Alice Marshal Performing Arts Center, at Temple College is small, seating approximately 100 people. Since the setting is quaint, it makes for a personal experience, allowing the audience to truly see and hear the entertainers character. The stage size also has a downside, at times the actors would trip over each other while dancing.

On February 26th 2016, I went out with my friend to saw this event. It was the first time of my life to be in such production. I was not a fan of theaters. I thought they are boring. Now, my mind has changed because the play was amazing. So, on the next day,

By 1900, there were currently thirty-three legitimate Broadway theatres, and many more would be built over the next couple of decades to meet the demand of the growing audiences. The productions included those of drama, comedy and musicals, but legitimate theatre was not the only theatrical entertainment of this time. During this time a large group of entertainers travels from one small theater to the next, entertaining thousands with their simple song and dance, mini-comical skits, and different acts of entertainment. These people were known as Vaudevillians and their theatre circuit was known as Vaudeville.

These clubs and theaters were a big hit during the twenties and were a great landmark of the changes in society during these times. They were home to great stars and the theaters started the idea of hollywood and movies.
Broadway was one of the first forms of entertainment. Before there were television programs, or movies, there was Broadway. Broadway originated in New York in 1750, when actor-manager Walter Murray built a theatre company at the Theatre on Nassau Street. A musical would show about once every weekend. The shows were very male based, and would commonly show a relationship between young boys and their fathers. Women were slowly integrated into Broadway, and as society changed its point of view on women, so did theatre.
The Belasco Theatre is a Broadway theatre located on 44th street. It was opened in October 1907 by David Belasco. When the theater originally opened, it was named the Stuyvesant theater. But it was renamed the Belasco after David Belasco himself in 1910 when he gave up his other theater which was then called the Belasco (now called the New Victory). After Belasco’s unfortunate death in 1931, the theater was bought by Katharine Cornell Productions, Incorporation. Later in 1949, the Shuberts bought the theater. For three years after, the theater was leased to NBC but then after went back to the original use.
On October 17th, Saturday at 2:00 PM, the musical Titanic was played in the Pavilion Theatre. There were some musicals performed by school that have been played in Eisenhower Auditorium before, but it was my first time watching the musical at the Pavilion Theatre, which was interesting to me. Since I have interest in the set of the stage, I was very excited to be able to explore how the play I have never seen before was going to work out in the different stage.
Next, the performance at The Globe Theater help separate it’s self from the other theaters. “The plays at The Globe” article articulate, “As soon as a play had been written it was immediately produced and printed followed productions”(Alchin). Rival theaters would send out some of their workers to go to the plays to produce unauthorized copies, plays and they were copied quickly as possible. The fact that, other theaters copied The Globe Theater’s plays shows that the plays performed there had the other companies scared of losing their audience so they had to do something similar to The Globe Theater. It proves the plays performed were a huge success and very profitable. The plays and overall Theater had a tremendous influence on the people of England in several ways.
Acting companies have been around almost as long as theatre itself. The first of the professional stage companies started back in the 1560s. They were used for their comedic trade. These companies also used women on the stage (Brown, 125-126). They can be seen as part of tribal rituals to Broadway musicals making their way across countries.
Theater originated from the religious rites of ancient Greek tribes. Located in northern Greece, a cult was formed to worship the God of wine and fertility, Dionysus. The cult held religious celebrations which included large consumptions of alcohol, animal sacrifices, and sometimes
