The following design was inspired by the subsequent excerpts from Elise de Wolfe’s book, A House in Good Taste. Elise de Wolfe was one of the first recognized interior decorators. In her book she discusses many decorating tips, successes, and mistrials she has discovered with experience. While the book was written in 1913 and design styles have changed drastically since then, I have taken many of her ideas and have adapted them to fit a more modern design style. I chose to adapt her ideas from the chapter A Light, Gay Dining Room due to the fact that a lot of de Wolfe’s hardest projects, yet biggest successes have been with dining rooms.
Some extra necessities I have is a white ceiling fan, two lamps, one T.V., two white furry carpets, one black circular cozy chair, a tiny garbage pile, a big laundry hamper, and three mirrors. On my wall I have a lot of drawing/paintings I did in art class, some pictures of my friends and I, a big wall square that I got from pottery with a white board, chalk board, jewelry hanger, mirror, picture hanger, chalk board, magnetic board, a calendar, and a clock. It is my favorite thing on my wall, but I always have a quote above a mirror and my monogram above my bed in black. My bed is extremely comfortable, I hate leaving it. It is a full size bed in a big white frame, with a flower comfortable. The colors are black, white, grey, purple, green, and blue, with black sheets and a big black blanket at the end. I love my throw pillows, I have three. One is a white fuzzy one that I use to cuddle with because it long or put behind my normal pillows. One is a big black square that I don’t ever use and one is a tiny square that says “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”. Since 2nd grade my room has changed a lot! My bedroom would be a bedroom as big as a parents master bedroom. It would be a decent size, and have lots of spacious area. The walls would be a light, baby blue, and it would have a few gray accents. I would have signs, and little decorations on the walls. As soon as you walked in from the door you would feel very soft, furry carpet, that was gray with a mix of white. As soon as you looked up from the beautifully laid carpet, a few feet to your left would be a vanity with bright ring lights, and makeup mirror lights. All of my makeup brushes would be in a section, with foundation and other makeup products organized as well. There would be a bar wear I would put my curling irons, and my straightener. There would be a very comfy, fluffy chair I would sit on as I was doing my hair and makeup. The chair would be as fluffy as a polar bear's fur. There would be a greatly beautiful designed rug with baby blue, and gray designs. Next to that a few feet away there would be a glass desk, that I did my homework on. There’d be a jar of pens and pencils, a place for markers and scissors, as well as extra paper for all of my work.
In order to get organized; you need to get rid of any unwanted items that are laying around, such as garbage, dirty dishes, and of course dirty clothes. Once you get all of these items in their designated spots, you will be left with only the items that actually belong in your bedroom. From there you would begin to start putting these remaining items in their proper place. I would suggest to start with folding all of your clothes and getting them put away in either your dresser or closest because your clothes often times take up the most space. Then you can focus on all of the other random things that are scattered about.
My room has many characteristics of which I share; it has many pictures that I have taken, about my friends or other interesting things that I have found. It is the only place that I can make my own, I can be creative and decorate
One place that I see every day but don’t put much attention to is my house. The house that I live in is near by a park and a gas station. My house is small and cozy is made of steel frames, the anterior part of the house has a beige and pink color that combine a beautiful shade. The inside of my house has many portraits of family members and drawings. I have a total of two bathrooms and four rooms a kitchen and two living rooms. We have a living room that’s used for grown-ups and the other one is used for the children. The kitchen table and chairs are made of wood, in the ceiling there is big chandelier. The walls of my house are painted in different colors that are green, beige and pink. I like that every room has its own different color, it’s not boring it brings life and shade.
My bedroom is a very special and different room. Thriugh the day it's a relaxing sanctuary but through the night where all my wildest dream and fantasy's can be let loose into the tender world.
