I feel that homecoming shouldn’t be abolishing. Abolishing homecoming would be upsetting to students and former students. The reasons i feel this way is because homecoming could be so much fun, you also get to know more about your school, and learning there traditions of the school. To begin with, homecoming could be fun to new students and former students. In homecoming week they do something called spirit week. In spirit they allow you to dress up and show your school spirit. They have a homecoming football game which is so fun because you have people coming out to support your school. They also all teacher to show their spirit and dress up. They have students running for homecoming king and queen. Which is competitive to see who will …show more content…
Homecoming is so much important to former students they admire so much of the history that they have to come and support it. Also, learning the school traditions. The school has a lot of ways they do things for homecoming week and the homecoming came. One of them is to show so much of your school colors to show your spirit. Our colors are maroon and grey which they will be seen a lot during the games. The school traditions can also be announcing the homecoming king and queen. They usually announce them at the football game during half time on the football field. At our school, they just don't announce the king and queen. They announce Mr. and Mrs. freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior also during half time. During the election they allow the candidates to show how good they are and pass out things to help them win. The students are only allowed to vote. The teachers are not because they don't have permission to vote. The candidates are competing against each other which is fun because you see how much people like to compete. Even if you don’t win you still can trying again except if you’re a senior. Senior’s can only run for homecoming king and queen why is that? I think they only allow the senior’s to run for king and queen because it’s their last year. Freshmans can’t run yet for king and queen because they’re new to the school. In conclusion, I disagree on abolishing homecoming is a great topic to write about but I understand
All I want, and all I have ever wanted, is for people to view me as a leader. Someone you can come to for advice when needed, or one of my best qualities, to make people laugh when they are feeling down on themselves. In September of this year, 2017, I was chosen as one of the candidates for Homecoming King. In October, I was chosen to be the Homecoming King. I could not have been more honored to be a representation of my school. A teacher had seen me working as a student helper in the main office, and just had to tell me, “Kurt, congratulations,” I replied with a gracious thank you. She then went further to tell me, “ It is so nice when good things happen to good people,” replying again with a compassionate thank you. Then, it had become apparent
In today's society where opinion matters, people have been extremely vocal about the lack of support the government has provided to our veterans. Many feel as if the government should do more, while others feel as if they are doing enough. Everyone will have a difference of opinion no matter if they have severed in the military or not. No matter how one may feel, is extremely important to take care of our veterans. As they have sacrificed their lives, time, and family to protect our country. Contrary to one's belief, the government provides a substantial amount of programs, which support the veterans. Honestly more could be done. On any given day you could see women and men standing on the corner holding signs implying they are homeless veterans and will work for food. A few programs the government offers our veterans are funding for mental health services, The Wounded Warrior Project and Vocational Rehabilitation and Education, which will be discussed throughout this essay. When you research the programs, they make it sound as if all proceeds are going towards the best treatment and care money could buy.

Continue reading and I may convince you to start conserving/recycling.
The United states national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, states: "Land of the free, home of the brave." This patriotic song adopted by the United States as our national anthem to express our nation's identity is no longer justified in relations with females being required to be drafted into the military. The word required emphasizes that this is not the "land of the free" because the United States is making it a requirement for citizens to be forced into the military out of their own free will. Furthermore, the anthem states "home of the brave", but people are not being brave when they are being forced. Bravery means having courage and being ready to face anything that comes your way, but if the military is making it a requirement to those

Everybody at least wants to go somewhere new in their lifetime. Perhaps it’s to visit family or maybe it’s to get away from the same old, same old, I’ll admit Indiana is pretty boring. Anyways, I’ve always wanted to go to Oregon, mainly because of the weather. Like every state, Oregon has it’s advantages and disadvantages. I’ve always adored Oregon for some reason and have always fantasized of living there, even if I don’t live there, a vacation to Oregon would still be suffice.
At Batavia High School, I have gladly been able to participate in many different activities. Since Freshman year, I have been in Student Council and Track and Field. I was blessed with year and last to be allowed into National Honor Society as the Publicist, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and National Social Studies Honor Society. Each have helped me to connect more with my community and school to both benefit myself and all that is around me. Also this year, I was able to because the Executive Board Secretary for Student Council where I was able to help plan many different events throughout the year. One of those events include homecoming, in homecoming I was heard of decorations

Throughout the novel “Homecoming,” the effects of the slave trade on the characters are explored. For example, Quey, the son of Effia, feels the pressure of carrying on his father’s slave industry in the midst of struggling with his identities. According to Quey, “he was one of the half-caste children of the Castle, and, like the other half-caste children, he could not fully claim either half of himself, neither his father’s whiteness nor his mother’s blackness. Neither England nor the Gold coast” (Gyasi 55). Quey makes it clear that he struggles to find his place in the world because he could never put an identity on himself. When asked to accept a position in his mother’s village, Quey was not enthusiastic about it because he had
Now that the Fiftieth anniversary year is past, we decided with the Athletic Department that it would be a good idea to bring back a Homecoming. That said Jackee Meadow and her team have scheduled Varsity girls and boys soccer games to conclude spirit Day,and on Saturday pre-founders day seventh and eighth grade soccer games, as well as Alumni Soccer Game.
Through this I was able to meet new people and learn new ways into managing my time with school work. Two lessons I have learned out of this experience is to definitely try new things in college even if it scares you and if you make a mistake you should never give up and keep trying until you succeed. These new lesson will help me, especially being a first year student, is that life is better when you go out of your comfort zone. If I had to change one thing about my “Homecoming” experience, it would be that I wished we had more than two weeks to practice so we could perfect the dances but other than that I am glad that Montclair has opportunities like this for students to help them get active on campus and do other activities besides

“Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics,” announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. “What is your topic Cindy?” As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. “Waffles are better than pancakes.” I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. “Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!” I survived to live yet another day.
Having escaped rule from a tyrannical British government, the United States was founded on ideals of freedom and equality for all people. These fantasies of universal egalitarianism turned out to be merely that: fantasies. American history is full of stories of the oppressed struggling to get the rights they deserve and of the controversy over these issues that consequently ensues. “The Hypocrisy of American Slavery” by Frederick Douglass and “We Shall Overcome” by Lyndon B. Johnson are two speeches made confronting two of these issues. Douglass’s speech, delivered in 1852, condemns the institution of slavery and maintains that slaves are men and are therefore entitled to freedom. Johnson’s speech, on the other hand, was written in 1965 and discussed the civil rights movement. In it, he implored local governments to allow all American citizens, regardless of race, to vote. Despite the significant gap in time between these two addresses, both speakers use similar persuasive techniques, including ethos, pathos, and parallelism, to convince their audience that change needs to be implemented in America.
