Homeland is a television series on Showtime that is a political thriller about the Central Intelligence Agency and their involvement in the destruction of a man named Abu Nazir. The show takes place in Langley, Virginia and mainly involves a CIA agent named Carrie Mathison, her coworker Saul Berenson, her boss David Estes and a Marine, sergeant Nicholas Brody. Carrie becomes obsessed with uncovering the secrets that agent Brody knows about Abu Nazir. Her obsession with Brody and Abu Nazir puts her in a position where she is in harm’s way just to get answers. As an agent Carrie Mathison suffers with a secret of her own. Carrie suffers from bipolar I disorder and struggles with this secret because she cannot be a CIA agent with this disorder. She as extreme manic episodes that don’t last as long as the criteria for DSM-5 diagnosis says it should but because she has had this disorder since she was I college it is still seen as a sign of bipolar. Homeland portrays the bipolar disorder just as it is described in many literatures. The behaviors are noticeable, the symptoms are spot on and when Carrie is on her medications her disorder is well controlled. Bipolar I is well represented in Homeland. The only thing that was not mentioned a lot in Homeland is how Carrie was treating her bipolar disorder. She was on medications but which ones were not made known and neither was how well the ECT worked for
Many people have said and think Sister Souljah is a racist. She has made a statement to let people know she is not a racist. She considers herself of being a black sister with an unselfish heart and wants to be heard and will be heard. Sister Souljah has impacted and affected our society today. You’d be hard pressed to find one in a crowd. The average serial killer generally blends in with everyone else (Directory Journal, 2010). In fact, most are soft-spoken and even polite. Their monstrous nature only comes through when you dig deeper into their personalities, actions, and habits. Most seem to have come from dysfunctional family settings and were emotionally, sexually, or even verbally abused as children (Directory Journal, 2010). It is almost as if this background activates some psychological trigger that increases their feelings of inadequacy or worthlessness that led them to seek out their own heinous form of release.
Carrie practices her powers in secret, developing strength, and also finds that she is somewhat telepathic.
Throughout the movie Joan Crawford shows many examples of being bipolar. Bipolar is a disorder in which a person’s mood changes from depression to elation and back again. (Rathus 2010). Joan Crawford shows this in her movie more than one time, the first time she shows it she finds out that she has just received the role she was hoping to get and then finds her daughter playing with her makeup. When she finds her daughter imitating her and she freaks out because she doesn’t like her acting like her so she instantly goes from excitement to almost killing her daughter and cutting her hair all the way off. That is a clear example of bipolar because she starts out very joyful and ends up very angry. In the movie, she goes outside to thank all of her fans for receiving the award and it very proud and happy then goes up to see her daughter and finds out she has a wire hanger and beats her with the wire hanger. This is an example because she is very happy then instantly almost kills her daughter. Those are the two most supporting examples that I found from the movie and they show the example of bipolar very good.

I highly recommend Caroline Corrigan for acceptance to the University of Rhode Island. She hopes to study pharmacy in their great program. Caroline is an excellent, well-rounded student who strives to do the best she can inside and outside of school. She is a great example to others and a great leader. Caroline would be a wonderful asset to the University of Rhode Island, just as she is to her current school, Mount Saint Charles.
Riding the Pale Horse of Death, Aileen Wuornos murdered seven men over a nineteen-month period from December 1989 until November 1990, along highways in the state of Florida. While working as a prostitute, Aileen would solicit her victims then murder them. Wuornos confessed to committing seven murders. Aileen Wuornos was found guilty and convicted of six murders. Aileen received the dubious honor of being named officially the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s first female serial killer. Aileen was given six death sentences, more than anyone else on Death Row at that time and maybe even to this day. Ms. Wuornos was

Writing in the 20th century was great deal harder for a Chicano then it was for a typical American at this time. Although that did not stop this author, Sandra Cisneros. One of her famous novels, Woman Hollering Creek was a prime example of how a combined culture: Mexican-Americans, could show their pride and identity in this century. In conjunction, gave the opportunity for women to speak their voice and forever change the culture of Latino/a markets. Not only did it express identity/gender roles of women and relationships, but using these relationships to combine the cultures of Mexican and American into a hybrid breed. This novel, should have been a view-point for the future to show that there is more to life than just gender and race.

Bipolar Disorder is a mental illness, which involves hypomanic episodes, which are changes in someone’s usual mood. Originally, Bipolar Disorder was called manic depression because it does share similar symptoms with people diagnosed with depression. Bipolar Disorder is a severe condition because it can cause mania, which then causes hallucinations and paranoid rage. (Bipolar Disorder) Bipolar Disorder is classified into two categories, bipolar type 1 and bipolar type 2. Bipolar type 2 is more serious because there is more major depression episodes. (Bipolar Disorder) A study done by Revista Brasileria de Psiquitra, shows a higher prevalence of Bipolar Disorder type 1 but overall both are pretty low in the general population. (Clemente)
Carrie stared out the window of the car at the endless plains outside. People always described this kind of scenery as boring or dull, yet Carrie enjoyed looking at it. She needed the reminder that vast open spaces such as this still existed. After living with her father in the big city for nearly three years, Carrie had had enough. Moving back to her childhood home was a tough decision, but she needed to see something natural and the city parks would never be enough. Nobody can really enjoy a city park; the officials chase down and ticket those who “abuse” the grounds. Carrie collected quite a few tickets for, of all things, climbing trees. People climbed trees all the time where Carrie came from and the worst that happened was a scraped knee or a broken branch.
