This report provides information on Honduras which includes the geography, its society, and government conditions. It offers facts about Honduras’ natural resources and ethnic groups. In addition, the article examines its military and transnational issues including, international conflicts, refugees and drug trafficking. The article provides insight to what controls the economy of Honduras. This article will be useful for my final project because it offers background facts on the level of development.

Honduras has the highest homicide rate in the world. (worldatlas.com) It’s a country that has been affected by imperialism multiple times throughout its history. In the early parts of the country's history, Honduras was imperialised by Spain and went through a couple of different political powers before becoming independent. During more recent times the U.S. used military force to gain control of the country in hopes to help the political uproar and failing country using imperialistic tendencies. Imperialism shaped Honduras into the country it is today by creating unnecessary wars leading to political tension, hindering the country’s economic and modern development and is continuing to shape the country by trying to reverse the adverse effect that imperialism had before.

After conquering its independence from Spain on September 15th 1821, along with the other Central American countries, it wasn’t a walk in the park for El Salvador. When the Central American States Union dissolved in 1838, the country was subject to various wars and revolutions with other countries in the region, namely Honduras. From 1931 to 1979, the military and an economic elite governed the nation, and the decreased in coffee prices increased the number of the lower class civilians.

My dad was born in the small Central American nation of El Salvador, more specifically in Anamoros located on the east side of the country. He lived in the countryside so he often played with their animals, spent most of his childhood swimming in the rivers or playing soccer with his friends, and would frequently hang out with his grandparents in the afternoons. In 1980, when he was about 12 years old that all began to change, he and all those around him needed to be more cautious about their surroundings.

Have people ever heard about El Salvador? If they have, they probably heard about its high homicide rates and criminal gangs (CIA World). Unfortunately, the beauty of this Spanish-speaking country gets overshadowed by these negative traits. However, El Salvador has much more to offer such as its history, geography, culture, economy, and climate; characteristics that build up this Central American country.

Central America has been plagued in the past with drugs, violence and poverty. This is a concerning issue because it have affected the lives of many people who now want to move away because of the death rates that has risen up because of the violence in the area. Due to the thousands corruption, poverty, and violence occurring in Central America, the Central American Government has allowed the immigration crisis to exceed in its country.

Furthermore, Daniel goes on to explain that this is often a common occurrence in Southern and Central America. He also explains how this migration and the fact that many people that are sending money back to their families are hurting the economy of Honduras rather than help the economy.
