I want to learn as much as I can in college. The Honors College program would allow me to extend my knowledge and to continue learning beyond a major and not be limited to one department. I pride myself for my very diverse schedule of classes throughout my years in high school. I make sure I always have electives, like art, or even a business class. By being a part of the Honors College I hope to continue taking diverse and interesting classes that I wish my high school offered but does not have the resources a college does. My goal is to have a well-rounded education in order to enjoy my college years as well as prepare me for success in the future.

Ever since I was young, I was exposed to a Historically Black College or University, Jackson State University. I had always went to activities and functions such as football games, summer programs, and other special events. I did not know whether I would attend a historically Black College or University (HBCU) or not at the time. I had finally decided to go to a HBCU, and I would attend Tougaloo College in the fall to further my education. I have many goals and objectives for pursing my educational experience at a historically Black College, and I plan to achieve them.

When I was in high school, I wished I was one of the top students in class. And when I saw the top students get awards in my senior graduation, I felt a surge of humiliating emotions – a feeling that I will never forget. I wanted to do it – I wanted to get that award, but I couldn’t. But now, since I can start fresh in college, taking honors college is going to help me get the highest distinction, the thing I couldn’t do when I was in high school. Following my passion will also lead me to stronger sense of the world and how I belong into it and why I am doing what I am. I will also basically have a deeper understanding of myself and the world by being in Honors college.
To me, being a part of Florida Southern’s Honors Program would mean more than just adding knowledge to my area of study. To have the opportunity to be a part of this program would mean that I would be able to grow in more than one way. I would take the opportunities to lead in areas such as community service and I would recognize my responsibility to maintain good character as an example for my peers. To be housed with other honors students would give me the chance to meet others with the same drive that I have, even though they may be in a different field of study. Being around others that have passion in their work would push and challenge me to step out of my comfort zone. Knowing that I can help the community while expanding my knowledge beyond typical education, I am guaranteed that I will reach my goals.

I have always felt the need to succeed in school to help me achieve my life goals. The Honors College helps me with this by offering classes that are meant to challenge me and allow me to reach a greater potential. Not only are the classes challenging, but they are offered in a wide variety of subjects so that I can challenge myself in multiple aspects of my education. Being a part of the Honors Program at USD will push me to grow in my own abilities and gain even more confidence. I have been at a small all-girls high school the past four years where I have really been challenged to improve my leadership skills, be more participatory in the classroom, share my ideas, and work closely with teachers, so I think it would be beneficial for me to continue in that setting. I look forward to be able to learn outside of what I already know I am interested in to explore new interests and passions. Team-taught courses also seem like a great benefit of the Honors Program because it would be valuable to get perspectives from different areas of study. In my high school, I have made connections in certain classes, such
My interest to enroll in the Honors Program is much more than “It looks good on transcripts”. Throughout my four years of high school, I decided not to enroll in AP classes, I refrained from joining any clubs, and constantly passed on many other opportunities due to fear of never being good enough. My desire to enroll in the Honors Program is to show myself just how much I am capable of. I have aspirations of earning my BSN at UCLA, and ultimately using my love for children and becoming a pediatric nurse. By being in the Honors Program my dream of getting into one of the best nursing schools in California seems more of a reality compared to a dream. This program would push me beyond my limits while at the same time allow me to interact with

College is the most commonly discussed topic that my teachers, parents, classmates, friends, and family members converse with me about, and the main reason branches from my current status as an eleventh grader. This means that I have a year and a half left until graduation and college entry. Every day, I am advised the same, repeated information about colleges: “College is awesome,” “College is great,” “You will have so much to stress about,” “College is no joke,” “You should be thinking about colleges,” “Do you know which college you are going to?” These popular phrases I listen to religiously are the reason why I stress about making sure that I obtain the essential resources I need for college, but why should I worry so much about something that I do not necessarily know anything about? Adults have explained so much about college and how the experience will be like, but how would I truly know the experience if I do not have a first-hand perspective on it? I believe that the Summer Scholars Program at the University of Miami
My main objective for going to college is to put myself in a position where I can bring people together to solve common problems. I am currently a sophomore in college and I’m double majoring in both International Relations and Computer Technology. As an ambassador of my generation, my goal is to become a language interpreter for the United Nations and a computer technician. I plan on studying abroad to further enhance my knowledge and gain a greater understanding of how to communicate more effectively with different cultures. The personal experience of interacting with different people will give me insight on how to not only bring people together, but enhance my skills as an interpreter as well.
