The word honor holds a very deep meaning. It is a very important word to me. Honor is a meaningful word. The word honor means thought highly of. When one is respected or has integrity they hold much honor. A person that is loyal and well trusted will hold great honor and leadership qualities. The Bible gives us instructions on how to be a great example and how to be a light in this world. Jesus holds high honor for what he did for us and what he continues to do for us. A word that best describes honor is distinction. Distinction means set apart or different. A great leader possesses distinction and honor in the way they lead and interact. Leaders have high confidence and self esteem in themselves and in others. The opposite of honor is disdain.
Honor to me is understanding that at every point in time, someone is paying attention to what you are doing, and behaving in a way that would not disappoint whoever is watching. Quoting the Cadet Honor Code, a cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do. Honor is about choosing to do the right thing, especially when there is an easier solution that has negative effects. Along with this, honor is taking pride in what you do. A cadet would be useless as an officer if he is just there for the money or just to yell at people. An officer with honor understands that what he is doing is possibly the most valiant job in America, and his pride in what he does shows. He doesn't cut corners, let soldiers off when they need punished, or simply tell people what to do. He does it with them, and gives them an example of the right way to do it.

It also means you do what is best for yourself and others around you. When somebody is honorable to you, you respect them , and trust them. Honorable people are also normally known as responsible and likable. In some cases, people think they are doing what is honorable, but really they are not.
For example, say you are known for being very helpful to schools and the community, and then you are earned the title of an honorable person. Many people are known for showing honor. The soldiers in the army and military are much known for being honorable and role models to people because they fight to protect us. Having honor does not take much, you do not have to join the military or save the world. It’s what in the heart that counts for earning honor.

Honor means the respect given to someone who is admired. My definition of honor would be similar but to me honor is given when that person earns it and then they become admired. In many cultures, honor and manliness go together. Honor lost was manhood lost. Because honor was such a central aspect of a man’s masculine identity, men would go to great lengths to win honor and not lose respect. In today’s society, honor means being true to a set of personal ideals, or being a person of integrity. Men are often told to “man up”, which means to show strength and courage. There are a few groups in today’s society that still consider honor to be a worthwhile goal. Our military, police departments and fire departments are all considered an honorable profession.
