Last year Algebra I proved to be a stuggle for many students including myself. This year, I feel as though I've made a lot of progress. Although Geometry has been difficult at times I genuinely enjoy this class and often look forward to learning more material from it. There are some aspects I liked, disliked, and would change about Honors Geometry, though overall it's one of my favorite classes. There are a couple of things I like about Honors Geometry. I like the group work in Honors Geometry. It's very helpful to be able to ask my classmates about material I don't quite understand. I enjoy the teacher and teaching methods. If I don't understand something Mrs. Devilling is great at helping me to understand better.
I think it is safe to say math has always been a passion of mine. I remember learning to count to 1000 in first grade. When I was finally able to do it without any help, it was like swimming for the first time, eating the ripe tomatoes I grew myself, or putting together a new song on the guitar. The feeling of accomplishment cannot be recreated. As we get older, this feeling becomes more difficult to achieve. This only increases my motivation and determination to learn something new. AP calculus has been a roller coaster of learning. Despite the struggle and rigor, I learned valuable skills that will help me in my future aspirations. Taking the AP Calculus exam gave me a rush of accomplishment. I have built a knowledge base because I am constantly
Throughout high school I have been involved in numerous academic programs tat opened many opportunities for me.
For me, the largest draw to joining the Engineering Honors Program is being able to work with and get to know my professors on a level that I wouldn't be able to in a larger classroom setting. In a large classroom setting, I don't see myself getting many opportunities to interact with my professors outside of office hours, which I still absolutely plan to take advantage of, but being in smaller classes would allow me, and the class as a whole, to have more time to ask our professors questions. On the subject of the other students, I believe that being in honors classes will give me the opportunity to interact with some of the smartest people in my graduating class, and I look forward to participating in that smaller and closer-knit group.
If I were to be accepted into the National Junior Honor Society, which is one of the highest honors that can be awarded, I would consider myself to be a very lucky person. Throughout my life, I've always considered myself as someone with good character and values.I've always prided myself in always doing the right thing and helping others. In addition, I view myself as a leader, not a follower. Being a leader comes naturally to me. I'm a leader amongst my friends and siblings. They always look up to me when they have a problem or when they need advice. I have a good standard education with an A average which will help me achieve my goals in the future.
I may not be the best candidate for the next member of the National Junior Honor Society, but I certainly believe I could be a great addition! Overall, I am a great learner, leader and student. I have not had any major discipline problems since kindergarten! I have always had top grades and have been top of my class at some point or another. I have good grades that I always maintain and standards that I never lower. My character is not the best but it certainly isn’t the worst. I try to help out in my school or community when possible but regrettably I have not given much of my time to my school or community. At the end of the day, I am a good student, friend, son and brother.
In Shaped by the Word, by Robert Mulholland Jr., one finds a way to read scripture in order to provide a deeper understanding of God and allow His Word to shape one’s spiritual life. In the Introduction, in chapter 1, the reader is introduced to the idea that there is a movement in the church that seeks to become deeper and stricter in spiritual formation. He claims there are many books written for this purpose, and his intending purpose for this book is for God to use however he may want in the reader’s spiritual life. Mulholland provides the reader with a prayer to pray in preparation of reading this book and states there may be points where God is knocking and calling the reader’s attention to something new.
Being nominated for Michigan Junior Honor Society is a big deal and accomplishment for me. I really value education and I feel that this will really help me with my education and in being a better person. As my teachers did, I believe I would be a good student for MJHS. I do all sorts of activities in and out of school and in the past I’ve done many things to give back to the community.
The National Junior Honor society, to me, represents the highest honor someone can achieve while in Middle School. Being accepted into such a prestigious society would not only give me an environment where I can improve my character, but it will also give me an experience which will help me gain a leadership position in the future. My intentions while in this society are to gain knowledge on what I can do to better my household as well as my community as a whole. While in this society I will work diligently to make positive changes to my community and school.
To me, being a part of Florida Southern’s Honors Program would mean more than just adding knowledge to my area of study. To have the opportunity to be a part of this program would mean that I would be able to grow in more than one way. I would take the opportunities to lead in areas such as community service and I would recognize my responsibility to maintain good character as an example for my peers. To be housed with other honors students would give me the chance to meet others with the same drive that I have, even though they may be in a different field of study. Being around others that have passion in their work would push and challenge me to step out of my comfort zone. Knowing that I can help the community while expanding my knowledge beyond typical education, I am guaranteed that I will reach my goals.
The Honors College is essential for enacting my goals, the Honors College will be an essential key in my learning success at Appalachian University. With the peers that are involved with the Honors College, an immaculate level of work should be expected. The peers will provide a sense of competition and make each and every person strive to be better than the next. Individuals who leave with the experience of the Honors College will have one step out the door, and be ready for whatever life throws at them.
In a school called Noble Street College Prep they have decided to go with a policy that punishes students for bad behavior. I would prefer this way of discipline. I would like to argue that this is a better policy to use. While the reward policy my work, I believe that KMS should use the punishment policy because it helps with the students academics, helps students concentrate in class, and lastly it teaches kids to have manners.
Honors classes at times can be challenging. However, everyone has different perspectives on them. The difficulty of the courses usually vary by the instructor. Some teachers put a heavy load of work on their students and some give a balanced amount of work. I don't know what the teachers are like at your school but hopefully they won't be so cruel. My teachers were okay I guess.
First, the academics. I have always enjoyed learning new things from many areas. This is what spurred me to take a variety of advanced classes in high school in many subject areas. Having the wide knowledge base and a varied array of perspectives is critical to understanding new concepts or solving problems, whether one’s at school or solving real-world problems. Thus, the interdisciplinary approach of the Honors College is essential to me in my education experience. And, of course, some of the more tangible aspects of the Honors College experience appealed to me as well. The access to personal priority registration, career path advice, mentoring and advising all will give me the opportunities to ensure my life in and beyond school will run smoothly.
Being a part of the Honors Program at USD will push me to grow in my own abilities and gain even more confidence. I have been at a small all-girls high school the past four years where I have really been challenged to improve my leadership skills, be more participatory in the classroom, share my ideas, and work closely with teachers, so I think it would be beneficial for me to continue in that setting. I look forward to be able to learn outside of what I already know I am interested in to explore new interests and passions. Team-taught courses also seem like a great benefit of the Honors Program because it would be valuable to get perspectives from different areas of study. In my high school, I have made connections in certain classes, such
The Honors Guild first attracted me into joining by its title, Honors. Throughout my academic career, I have been part of honors programs and enrolled in honors classes. In middle school, I joined an advanced placement program, and it was the first time that I found a place for myself in school. Ever since that school year, I have thoroughly enjoyed taking advanced courses because they challenged my abilities and mindset, and I was able to flourish being surrounded by like-mind individuals who pushed me to work harder.
