The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization, characterized by government headed by emperors, and large territorial holdings around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa, and Asia. What is imperialism? It’s a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Because of high taxes,outside attacks, and emperors being over throwned, imperialism was ultimately the main factor of the fall of rome.
Rome loved conquering other tribes. They had lots of power over other people. One the problem that Ellis stated was that they had was high taxes to support the army(Gaynor Ellis and Elser, Page 174). Because they did that there was heavy burdens on business people and small farmers. This problem they faced was because of their economic status. Yes since taxes were high to support the arm who was always in action trying to conquer more and more land. Which caused business people and farmers to have burdens and cause them to lose their land. Since they couldn’t pay off the taxes soon enough they had no money or production. Because of this the economy fell and less money was being produced, there was loss of jobs, and less resources since farmers were going out of
