Nat Turner
Did you know that some of the people you know have are raised from a slavery family. At one period of time they were owned by somebody, abused by somebody, and worked like animals? Well thanks to Nat Turner you are lucky you or your family members are free, because he got the attention of the south after many years later that if they were treated like the blacks are being treated they would probably snap like Nat did too. So from there they started treating slaves with more respect, and freedom.
Nat Turner was a very helpful guy especially to slaves he worked with , and love ones. Nat turner was chosen by God to Preach on how to lead slaves from bondage, because if two slaves fell in love they would focus more on their love than doing what their master has told them. And also if they fell in love they would have a baby and then the master would take their baby and use it as a slave when the baby gets to the right age. Then if they were in love there would be more chance of suicide if one died, or one was separated, and also more chances of run away.

In his life he lead a riot and killed approximately 50-70 masters and white families(men, women, and children). He hid for 6 weeks, in the woods not too far out of town, after he was found he went to court and pled guilty, because he did not want to put shame in god. He was sentenced to be hung, and the others that were found killing with Nat Turner were sentenced the same punishment. Whatever he did, he did it through the belief of god, and he always did it 100%. Just like the riot, he had to stop slavery, he never quit, he just wanted his culture to be free, his family he wanted everyone to be equal and in
First of all, both Frederick Douglass and Nat Turner has a lot of similarities. Both were well-educated slaves, and education helped them to be different from other slaves. In fact, while learning to read and write, Douglass understood his real life of being a slave because he could develop his imagination and interpret what was happening around him. For example, at the end of the chapter two of his book “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave, Written by Himself”, Douglass mentioned the slave song that he sang with other slaves when they were going to the Great House Farm which is the Colonel Lloyd’s plantation. When Douglass was a slave, he could not understand the real meaning of the song; however, when he grew up
Nat is without a doubt a “freedom fighter” and although his fight ended in blood, it was necessary at the time to help to end the continuance of such a cruel and inhuman practice. Slavery in itself was much more horrifying than every white death that ensued following the rebellion combined. Oates’s assertion that Turner’s rebellion was the first war against slavery is incredibly accurate, except in one sense, one does not need to be African-American to agree with this claim. Though an African-American could view slavery as a much more personal subject, because it affected and enslaved many of their own ancestors, one does not need to be black to understand how terrible slavery actually is. Any single person who can assess slavery with an open mind and completely unbiased will see that the suggestion that one person can own another person solely because of the color of one’s skin is completely inhumane, and it’s absolutely no surprise that those who were being enslaved decided to react. Nat did in fact commit a crime, he started a
Nat Turner to my option is one of the most well-known and slave rebel in our history, and to this day, his actions are still remains a focus of disagreement. Although Turner’s revolt may have had some adverse effects to solve the problem of slavery, but it did do one thing for sure, it opened many American’s eyes to the issue. Slavery of African Americans, commonly called blacks, was an accepted part of our society during his time frame, and even though during this time it was not frowned upon, it still was not civilized or considered right in anyway. To my opinion, from what I read the opinion of many others that, it was the unjust and hurtful treatment of the slaves by their masters during the 1800’s that eventually led to not only Turner’s slave revolt, but it also was a big help in the movement to abolish slavery.
Nat Turner was a leader from the very moment he was born. But unfortunately he was also born into slavery. He was hit with the regulatory slave rules, he could not get married, travel without the permission of his master, could not own property, and he could not earn money. During his slavery, he was sold to many different slave owners and each time, he was sold, he was forced to leave some part of his family, as well as his friends he had made. This was the brutal and demeaning system of slavery that he sought to overthrow. He was not just looking for his own individual freedom, he was fighting for the abolishment of the whole entire system of slavery, along with liberating African Americans from white tyranny. During the 1820s he had many visions of what he believed to be God commanding him to prepare himself to fight against great evil. He was not the only one that was “receiving visions from God” there were many other Americans that said to experience
Nat Turner’s rebellion was one of the largest slave rebellions in the United States. Nat turner was born into slavery in the year of 1800 in Southampton, Virginia. People on the plantation believed he was a prophet and chosen by God to lead them to great things. He knew of stories that were told before he was alive and his grandmother and mother knew then that he was special and sent from God.
Nat Turner was born in October 2, 1800, on Benjamin Turner’s plantation in Southampton County, Virginia. His father was also a slave of Benjamin Turner’s and was believed to have successfully escaped and lived his life in the Great Dismal Swamp in southern Virginia and North Carolina. His mother was a slave named Nancy who used to live in Africa but was taken in 1763. Nat Turner was highly intelligent and imaginative even from early childhood, and his mother thought that he was destined for great things. He was overheard describing events that even happened before he was born, so the other slaves believed that he was destined to become a religious prophet. Nat Turner was a very religious slave who had many visions and led a rebellion

Nat Turner was an African American slave who was born in Southampton County, Virginia on October 2, 1800. He started working on southern plantations 1831. When he was younger, everyone thought of him as being very smart. They saw that he was smart when he was about 3 or 4 years old. While young Nat Turner was playing with some of his friends, his mother heard him tell the children about something that had happened to him when he was born. She later had asked him about what he told the children. She asked him details about the incident, and it confirmed that he knew about this past event. From that time on, other slaves believed that in addition to his unique view, his physical markings were a sign that he would be a prophet.
What was the importance of Nat Turner and where does he stand in American history? Nat Turner is an American slave, who has been forgotten about in history as well in the hearts of African-Americans. He led and organized one of the bloodiest slave rebellions in American history. This rebellion was "…the rebellion that served to change the course of American history in the three decades before the Civil War" (Goldman 10). Within this paper, it is to analyze on his impact on the nation.
Nat Turner was a slave who used his failed troop in 1831 at Southampton virginia. That attempt leads to an incident which became a justification of civil war. He was born on a small plantation in virginia, owned by a slaveholder Benjamin Turner. Nat’s mother was born in Africa captured by the colonial masters, and shipped to the United State as a slave. She taught her son to hate slavery because she felt death is better than slavery. His master’s son taught Turner to understand how to read and speak English. He grew up to be a clergyman and served as a preacher to the slave surrounding him.
He fought to integrate the University of Mississippi and though his own efforts were denied he rejoiced when James Meredith succeeded later. He helped key African- American witnesses to the murder of Emmett Till get out of town and escape vigilante justice from white mobs. He had fought for his country during World War II and wanted basic freedoms for his fellow African-Americans back home. He became a leader in the NAACP of Mississippi and helped organize voter registration for African-Americans. He was assassinated by a white supremacist who got away with murder for years before political consciousness and swayed against race
Throughout history many heroes have had to kill or take down their oppressors. For example, in the Revolutionary War the patriots attacked the British and won a war. While it can be argued that war is never the answer to solving conflicting issues, it has always been the precedent for solving major problems, in this case, freedom from England. Perhaps, Nat Turner had heard of the patriots fight for freedom and was therefore inspired to fight for his own. Just like the patriots, Nat Turner and his gang killed many individuals. As stated from NCPedia, “Their plan was to move systematically from plantation to plantation in Southampton county and kill all white people connected to slavery, including men, women, and children...” While the argument can be made that he killed innocent individuals, it can also be argued that they were not innocent. While women and children may not had been directly partaking in the cruel acts, as their white master husbands and fathers, they would still grow up believing that the conditions of slavery were okay, and thus become the same as their fathers. By killing all individuals connected to slavery, Nat Turner showed that in order to stop a problem you must eliminate it at the root. The root being those who would grow up still believing that the slavery system was justified. Like all heroes he eliminated the problem at the source; fighting off the main villain and their collaborators. Further, Nat Turner can be considered a hero for the African American people. He showcased the American ideals of fighting for what you believe in. As noted throughout history, the white Revolutionary American Patriots were heroes for fighting for their freedom, so is it not the same for Nat Turner? He fought for what he believed in and therefore isn’t there a connection to the idea of a hero? Just because slaves were the minority does not mean that they cannot be heroes. After all the Revolutionary American Patriots were the minority as
After reviewing the documentary and readings, the lasting impression i have of nat turner and the revolt is amanzed by how they use spirtually motivaed resistance. Nat Turner believed God sent him a sign to rebel against people who were oppressing Africans no matter what age or gender. He refused to go another day being treated like a slave by first killing his owner then on to the next White slave owner until he was lynched. Even though, I feel Nat turner used God's words in order to convience other slaves to kill slave owners. If Nat Turner was so godly he would have followed God's commanents and not killed anyone, But on the other hand many things would not have been accomplished with out

With being the leader of the NAACP, many white Americans did not like him, and when he helped James Meredith get into Ole Miss, he sparked a fire that would not go away until June 12, 1963, when he was murdered outside his home, and the murderer would not see justice until 1994, over thirty years after his death.
