Nat Turner
Did you know that some of the people you know have are raised from a slavery family. At one period of time they were owned by somebody, abused by somebody, and worked like animals? Well thanks to Nat Turner you are lucky you or your family members are free, because he got the attention of the south after many years later that if they were treated like the blacks are being treated they would probably snap like Nat did too. So from there they started treating slaves with more respect, and freedom.
Nat Turner was a very helpful guy especially to slaves he worked with , and love ones. Nat turner was chosen by God to Preach on how to lead slaves from bondage, because if two slaves fell in love they would focus more on their love than doing what their master has told them. And also if they fell in love they would have a baby and then the master would take their baby and use it as a slave when the baby gets to the right age. Then if they were in love there would be more chance of suicide if one died, or one was separated, and also more chances of run away.

In his life he lead a riot and killed approximately 50-70 masters and white families(men, women, and children). He hid for 6 weeks, in the woods not too far out of town, after he was found he went to court and pled guilty, because he did not want to put shame in god. He was sentenced to be hung, and the others that were found killing with Nat Turner were sentenced the same punishment. Whatever he did, he did it through the belief of god, and he always did it 100%. Just like the riot, he had to stop slavery, he never quit, he just wanted his culture to be free, his family he wanted everyone to be equal and in
After reviewing the documentary and readings, the lasting impression i have of nat turner and the revolt is amanzed by how they use spirtually motivaed resistance. Nat Turner believed God sent him a sign to rebel against people who were oppressing Africans no matter what age or gender. He refused to go another day being treated like a slave by first killing his owner then on to the next White slave owner until he was lynched. Even though, I feel Nat turner used God's words in order to convience other slaves to kill slave owners. If Nat Turner was so godly he would have followed God's commanents and not killed anyone, But on the other hand many things would not have been accomplished with out
On October 2, 1800 a young African American boy named Nathaniel was born on John Clarke Turners plantation. Prior to Nat turning 12 he grew up like any other boy in the 1800s. He played with many kids including his master’s kids and white kids. Nat was also a very intelligent kid and had been born with markings on his body that in the African culture meant he would become a leader or prophet. Nat was so intelligent in his childhood he taught himself how to read and write and he would tell people stories of events that happened prior to him being born as if he had lived in these events. John Turner didn’t take long to realize that Nat was highly more intelligent than all the other slaves and John showed him off to his visitors and other locals. Whites would tell Nat that he “would never be of any service to anyone as a slave” because he was so intelligent but despite all this after his 12th birthday he became a plantation slave. Nat grew more and more spiteful of the white folks. He was always told he was too intelligent to be a slave but despite that he had become a slave and he hated it. While Nat was growing
He fought to integrate the University of Mississippi and though his own efforts were denied he rejoiced when James Meredith succeeded later. He helped key African- American witnesses to the murder of Emmett Till get out of town and escape vigilante justice from white mobs. He had fought for his country during World War II and wanted basic freedoms for his fellow African-Americans back home. He became a leader in the NAACP of Mississippi and helped organize voter registration for African-Americans. He was assassinated by a white supremacist who got away with murder for years before political consciousness and swayed against race
First of all, both Frederick Douglass and Nat Turner has a lot of similarities. Both were well-educated slaves, and education helped them to be different from other slaves. In fact, while learning to read and write, Douglass understood his real life of being a slave because he could develop his imagination and interpret what was happening around him. For example, at the end of the chapter two of his book “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave, Written by Himself”, Douglass mentioned the slave song that he sang with other slaves when they were going to the Great House Farm which is the Colonel Lloyd’s plantation. When Douglass was a slave, he could not understand the real meaning of the song; however, when he grew up
During the days the rebellion took place, Turner was making a difference every day which affected all of the slaves around the area. He made a difference during that stage in his life and it made slaves realize that they had a leader who believed in many things and wanted to take a risk which makes Turner a person to look up to. This rebellion proved that slaves didn’t care what the whites thought of them, they believed in Turner’s plan and thought that it was right for them to follow in his footsteps. We know that the rebellion had a huge impact on society, especially slaves that lived around Nat. After it ended, Nat was known as an iconic figure and he became known for his beliefs and actions years later. Overall, Nat Turner was a historic
In the end, Nat turner made a very big impact on the South which made it hard on the slaves. He was painted as a hero to blacks because his rebellion was the start of the Civil War ,but in my eye he just made it worse for them at the time. However, without his action the Civil War many have started later or had never happened at
Nat Turner was a slave who used his failed troop in 1831 at Southampton virginia. That attempt leads to an incident which became a justification of civil war. He was born on a small plantation in virginia, owned by a slaveholder Benjamin Turner. Nat’s mother was born in Africa captured by the colonial masters, and shipped to the United State as a slave. She taught her son to hate slavery because she felt death is better than slavery. His master’s son taught Turner to understand how to read and speak English. He grew up to be a clergyman and served as a preacher to the slave surrounding him.
Nat Turner was born in October 2, 1800, on Benjamin Turner’s plantation in Southampton County, Virginia. His father was also a slave of Benjamin Turner’s and was believed to have successfully escaped and lived his life in the Great Dismal Swamp in southern Virginia and North Carolina. His mother was a slave named Nancy who used to live in Africa but was taken in 1763. Nat Turner was highly intelligent and imaginative even from early childhood, and his mother thought that he was destined for great things. He was overheard describing events that even happened before he was born, so the other slaves believed that he was destined to become a religious prophet. Nat Turner was a very religious slave who had many visions and led a rebellion

With being the leader of the NAACP, many white Americans did not like him, and when he helped James Meredith get into Ole Miss, he sparked a fire that would not go away until June 12, 1963, when he was murdered outside his home, and the murderer would not see justice until 1994, over thirty years after his death.
What was the importance of Nat Turner and where does he stand in American history? Nat Turner is an American slave, who has been forgotten about in history as well in the hearts of African-Americans. Nat Turner was an African American slave who was born in Southampton County, Virginia on October 2, 1800. He started working on southern plantations 1831. When he was younger, everyone thought of him as being very smart. They saw that he was smart when he was about 3 or 4 years old. While young Nat Turner was playing with some of his friends, his mother heard him tell the children about something that had happened to him when he was born. She later had asked him about what he told the children. She asked him details about the incident, and it confirmed that he knew about this past event. From that time on, other slaves believed that in addition to his unique view, his physical markings were a sign that he would be a prophet.
